About the Artist

Award-winning artist Jim Shore grew up in rural South Carolina, the son of artistic parents who instilled a love of the traditional images and values of American folk art. He cites his inspiration as his grandmother, a master quilter who taught him an appreciation for the craft, and his collection of quilts dating back over 150 years. Jim studied engineering and received a degree in business, not art. Answer:	Hi, No, there are not painted gold on the outside. The outside is of natural shape and color, brown and grey. Or dyed blue, teal. thank u :)

Question:	What are the height of these bookends? will thy hold up albums
Answer:	They are not very tall, maybe only 6 or 7inches but they are heavy. I am using them to hold up some of our family albums and they work great.
Question:	What weight do you recommend for holding several thick paperback and hardback textbooks
Answer:	Go big! The weight is not per stone but the set :( The ones I got were much smaller than I expected and NOT the same quality that is represented in the photos. They are ok but I am quite disappointed considering the price.
