Question:	Can the chimes be silenced
Answer:	I do not know what a cone-shaped single device looks like. The coffee is in a pod that is round at the top and round where the coffee granules are located. The coffee granules are in a paper like filter much like traditional coffee filters. It does not reshape into a cone shape. It is packed with coffee granules and stays round. I would say that it will not be flexible enough to fit a cone-shaped unit.
Question:	what size battery do you use for the pendulum to swing
Answer:	I looked at my jar of instant coffee and my box of K cups and they both say 100% Columbian coffee, nothing about chicory in it. It's from a New York restaurant chain that has its own brand of products called Chock Full o Nuts. I worked at one when I lived there in the 70's and I have not changed brands since then. No other coffee compares!

Answer:	I'm listening right now and can't hear a thing! The clock is less than 10' away from me and I have normal hearing. The chimes can be turned off too!

Answer:	If you mean that the chimes sound when the minute hand is not on twelve, then it could be that the mechanism is not synchronized correctly. In that case, you need to remove the glass face plate and physically move the hands to coincide with the chimes. I hope that works with this clock; my previous wall clock needed to be synced that way but it had a hinged face plate to facilitate the process.
