Here are some common dementia products related to alarm clocks, clocks, home decor, and kitchen items:
Dementia-Friendly Clocks: Clocks designed for individuals with dementia often feature large, easy-to-read numbers and labels for days of the week, months, and even periods of the day (morning, afternoon, evening, night). Some clocks also display the time using images of the sun and moon to help distinguish between day and night.

Dementia Clocks with Day/Night Indicators: Some clocks have a clear visual indicator that shows whether it is daytime or nighttime, helping individuals maintain their daily routines.
Calendar Clocks: These clocks not only display the time but also the date, day of the week, and sometimes even the year. They can be beneficial for individuals with dementia who may struggle with orientation.
Medication Management Devices: Some products are designed to help individuals with dementia remember to take their medications at the right times. These devices can include electronic pill organizers with alarms and visual or auditory reminders.
Cognitive Stimulation Games: Various games and activities, such as jigsaw puzzles and memory card games, can help stimulate cognitive function and provide entertainment for individuals with dementia.
Wandering Prevention Products: To ensure the safety of those prone to wandering, dementia-specific door alarms, motion sensor systems, and GPS tracking devices are available to alert caregivers or family members when a loved one leaves a designated area.
Cushioning and Home Safety Products: Home safety measures like cushioned corners and edges, non-slip flooring, and grab bars can be crucial for preventing accidents and injuries in the home environment.
Communication Aids: Picture-based communication boards and devices can assist individuals with dementia in expressing their needs and preferences when verbal communication becomes challenging.
Kitchen Safety Products: Products designed for kitchen safety include automatic shut-off stove controllers, temperature-regulating kettle tippers, and easy-to-hold utensils to reduce the risk of accidents while cooking or preparing meals.
Home Decor: Simple and clutter-free home decor can create a calming and familiar environment for individuals with dementia. This may include organizing items, minimizing reflective surfaces, and using soft, non-glare lighting.
These dementia products are designed to promote safety, independence, and well-being for individuals living with dementia while providing peace of mind to their caregivers. Joy
Joy is pivotal and can come from so many sources, like a chat over tea or winning that game of bingo. But the deepest is when it’s effortless, spontaneous and shared. The slightest of smiles from someone with dementia or Alzheimer's – uncontrived, sparked and unplanned – can bring immense joy and be infectious.
Staying active

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the large version for low vision adults |
Answer: | No, this is the regular Match the Shapes. The Low Vision Edition can be found here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LLXZH20 (or search Amazon for B01LLXZH20). Note that the tiles are the same size in both versions, but the Low Vision Edition has larger templates with wider spacing making it easier to place the tiles and easier to see the patterns. Keeping Busy |
Question: | what order activities can you do with match the shapes. the activities we did are so easy. what else can be done with them |
Answer: | What we love about "Match the Shapes" is that in addition to the activities and games suggested, you can use the tiles with or without templates to come up with other activities that are more or less challenging. Without knowing which activities you have completed, it's hard to know what to suggest. In general, the more tiles you give the person with the least guidance (templates, etc), the more challenging the activity. For example, in the "Activities and Games" instructions we describe how to add extra challenge by using all the tiles and no templates to have the person complete a pattern with all the like shapes in each row and like colors in each column. Most find this quite challenging. You can also make up your own challenges by asking the person, for instance, to put the tiles together in a way that the pattern repeats after every fourth tile, or make a square of 16 tiles so that no shape or color repeats in any row or column (similar to Sudoku but using shapes instead of numbers). If you contact us directly, we can try to offer more suggestions specific to your requirements. Keeping Busy |
Question: | Are the tiles washable for multi-resident use |
Answer: | Yes, they can be washed with any disinfectant or cleaner that does not damaged painted surfaces. The templates are laminated plastic and can also be cleaned in the same manner. The activity is considered to be infection control compliant by most guidelines. Keeping Busy Inc. |
Question: | Is this game large enough for low vision adults |
Answer: | Yes |

Match the Shapes
The colorful shapes on the black tiles naturally draw people’s attention. They are fun to look at and handle, and provide the basis for a variety of fun and challenging matching activities and games. The 36 tiles come presorted into four bags with a corresponding template in each bag. Start with one bag of pieces and a quarter page template.
Successful? Add another bag and the matching template and carry on with new colors and shapes. Too easy? Move to the next level. Too challenging? Move back a level.
The instructions detail how to find the appropriate level of challenge. Even if the person can’t follow the templates, the pieces are great fun to match, stack and sort. A very popular activity.
Brightly Colored Tiles
People are drawn to the brightly colored tiles, picking them up, and sorting and stacking them. For some people with dementia, this is enough for an engaging activity. For those with more abilities, it makes it easy to introduce the more advanced concepts.
Get Familiar with Shapes and Colors
The introductory templates are used to familiarize the person with the shapes and colors. One side of the template shows color swatches, and the other shows the shapes.
Start with One Template...
Once the person can distinguish between the shapes and colors, use the pieces and template from the first bag to start the puzzle.
Add Another...
Add the pieces and template from the second bag and continue the puzzle. Point out how the colors continue in the same line up and down and the shapes are the same across.
And Finish the Last Two...
Add the third and then the fourth template in the same way to complete the puzzle.
Add Complexity...
For added complexity, any of the templates can be replaced by the black template.
Match the Existing Pattern...
This is more difficult because the person has to match the colors and patterns from the other templates with no hints.
When Done, Put the Pieces Back in Their Bags....
When done, ask the person to sort the templates and pieces back into their bags by matching the picture on the bag label with the pieces and templates. You will be amazed by the look of satisfaction from helping out by putting the puzzle away on their own!
