User questions & answers

Question: is there a thermostat
Answer: This heater was purchased for our telephone receptionist is always cold. She LOVES IT! She was more concerned about her upper body than her legs, so she sat it right on top of the desk beside her. The heater is Super quiet (she is on the phone constantly), plus it puts off really good controllable heat. We HIGHLY recommend this heater.
Question: Is there a burning plastic smell? I tried a moda flame product and my eyes and nose were burning by nighttime
Answer: Yes, it appeArs to be able to distribute just cool air. There is a temperature guide that can regulate the temperature. Also, it is very quiet and turns itself off if toppled.
Question: where are the controls? i want to put in our fireplace so want controls to be in front not on top or back
Answer: No this unit does not glow orange or light up other than the indicator light on the top of the unit.
Question: Is it radiant heat for the forced hot air kind
Answer: I own one each of the 10-inch and of the 16-inch heater units. The 16-inch unit has an easily removable, without screws, cover on the back to access the air filter for cleaning. The 10 inch unit looks like it would require screw removal to access the air filter. They both have the same heating capacity rating, 750Wats low (setting-1), and 1500Watts high (setting-2) settings. I find that the 750Watt low-setting on either heater is sufficient to heat the room each is in, a bathroom and a bedroom. A third setting is for fan-only, no heat. They each have a switch on the back to control the oscillation motion. They each have a tip-over safety switch on the bottom incase the heater falls over. I am very pleased with both of the heating units performance and styling.

User questions & answers

Question: How much weight can you put on the end of this? Thanks
Answer: It depends upon how well it's secured to the "wall" or surface where you're installing it. It is made from wrought iron - my hub has his secured with concrete bolts to the inside of a cement block outdoor fireplace. He regularly puts a 10 quart cast iron kettle on it to cook chili or soup over the fire, so you're talking 25-30lbs. We've had it for a few years and it's performed very very well.
Question: Can this be installed in a semi covered area
Answer: Yes, it is powder coated an could be used for an outdoor kitchen area, for example.
Question: Can this be attached in a prefab firebox with refactory panels
Answer: I have no idea. I bought mine to move laundry baskets from one floor to another. I like it a whole lot for that use—it works and it looks nice. I had contractors install it.
Question: what size crane do I need for a 32inch fireplace
Answer: Assuming the measurement you gave is width (side to side) of the opening, I would suggest a 14-16" crane - you want your kettle that's hanging on it to be fairly centered over the fire for cooking. Half the width would put you pretty much in the center. Make sure that one you intend to purchase actually has at least a 14" arm (not full dimension including the post/bracket) Make sense?
