9 best cadet electric space heaters

Cadet electric space heaters are electric heating devices designed to provide supplemental heat to specific areas or rooms within a home or office. These heaters are part of the broader category of electric space heaters and are commonly used to increase comfort and warmth in individual spaces. Here are some key features and information about Cadet electric space heaters:

  1. Types of Cadet Heaters:

    • Baseboard Heaters: Cadet offers electric baseboard heaters that are typically installed along the baseboard of a room. They use convection to heat the air and are controlled by a built-in thermostat.
    • Wall Heaters: Wall heaters from Cadet are mounted on the wall and provide efficient heating for rooms. They are available in various wattages and can be controlled via a thermostat.
    • Ceiling Heaters: Cadet also manufactures ceiling-mounted heaters designed for even heat distribution. These are often used in commercial or industrial settings.
  2. Heating Technology: Cadet electric space heaters primarily use electric resistance heating elements to generate heat. When electricity flows through these elements, they heat up and transfer the warmth to the surrounding air.

  3. Thermostats and Controls: Cadet heaters are typically equipped with built-in thermostats or can be used with compatible external thermostats. This allows users to set and maintain their desired room temperature.

  4. Safety Features: Safety is a crucial aspect of Cadet heaters. They often include features like overheat protection, which shuts off the heater if it becomes too hot, and tip-over switches that turn off the unit if it's knocked over.

  5. Energy Efficiency: Electric space heaters, including Cadet heaters, are generally considered less energy-efficient compared to other heating methods like central heating systems. However, they can be cost-effective for heating specific areas when used wisely.

  6. Installation: The ease of installation varies depending on the type of Cadet heater. Baseboard heaters typically require a simple installation along the baseboard, while wall heaters need to be mounted securely on a wall. Ceiling heaters may require professional installation.

  7. Applications: Cadet electric space heaters are suitable for various applications, including bedrooms, living rooms, offices, garages, and other spaces where additional heating is needed. They are often used as supplementary heating sources to maintain comfort in colder seasons.

  8. Brand Reputation: Cadet is a well-known and reputable brand in the electric heating industry. They have a long history of producing reliable and durable heating products.

  9. Maintenance: These heaters generally require minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning to remove dust and debris from the heating elements and safety grilles is recommended. It's also essential to check the power cord and connections for wear and tear.

In summary, Cadet electric space heaters are versatile heating solutions designed to provide supplemental warmth to specific areas or rooms. They come in various types and are equipped with safety features and temperature controls for convenience and peace of mind. While they may not be as energy-efficient as central heating systems, they are valuable for spot heating and maintaining comfort in individual spaces.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be mounted in a ceiling
Answer: this unit does come with a built-in thermostat
Question: What is the rough in size of this heater
Answer: I had cadet replace them. There is a newer model(almost identical except for button layout,etc.)....I have mine wired for 240 volt which has more of a noise problem.I was told by the tech department there is some sort of harmonic noise/vibration problem which has been taken into account on the newer model. The heaters I replaced with the newer model are way less noisy!
Question: When wired 240V, is the heater 1 or 2 / single or dual phased
Answer: UL safety standards require the heater to be placed a minimum distance of 6 inches (15.2 cm) from adjacent surfaces and 4-1/2 inches (11.4 cm) from the floor. Cadet recommends a 12-inch clearance from all surfaces for longer and cleaner performance. A 3-foot (91.44 cm) minimum clearance is required for furniture or other objects placed directly in front of the heater. This model is not approved for ceiling installation.
Question: how many amps
Answer: The TH115-A-240D digital stat is a great option. Have it with these heaters in every room in my house, great for controlling every heating zone, and on a schedule! As a side note everyone will save themselves a lot of trouble (and $) by abiding by the mfgs note about cleaning these things every 6 months. I do every 3. They don't have a filter so it is vitality important.

User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone know the dimensions of this unit? Specifically, is it 24" long or 36" or what? I am surprised that the dimensions of the unit aren't shown
Answer: Terri,Good morning. According to Cadet, the CST302 is the appropriate choice as a replacement. The Model that you've inquired about is this model. Please note that it does not come with a thermostat or grill, so the presumption is that you will re-using both of your existing pieces. Please let us know if you have any additional questions whatsover.Thanks.Jeff CousinsOperations Manager
Question: how far from outlet can it be installed? does it have just wiring or electric plug? if just wirin, drawing some standby piwer even when of
Answer: If you are using the 3000w 220v unit you could get by with 12g wire and a 20amp breaker. but not recommended but if it is the 4000w unit or if it was me I would use 10g wire and a 30a breaker for a heater. As far as code the breaker is sized by the size of the Wire on the circuit 20a for 12g and 30a for 10gage.
Question: The description says, thermostat included. What type of thermostst is included
Answer: Minimum every 6 months
Question: What size (Room)will this heat comfortably
Answer: Depends on how often you use the RV/Camper. We normally do 5-6 one-week camps in the fall/winter season and have replaced the filters after each season. One point, the filter should be installed on the water outlet, not on the RV/Camper inlet. Improves water pressure in the unit.

Question: i see it is 6.25" deep, will it fit in a 2x4 studded wall
Answer: Here is the info provided from Cadet, available on their website for "heater safety tips" under "downloads" (link at bottom):If a Cadet wall heater is ever dirty, blocked, or malfunctions, the heater will turn off, thanks to its manual limit switch. The heater will stay off until you press the reset button (the "manual" in manual limit switch) oruntil you turn the thermostat to the "off" or "low" position. Once this limit is tripped, you can quickly check for problems and fix them as necessary. Common causes for tripping the switch: furniture too close to the heater, dirt/dust build-up, foreign objects inside the heater. http://cadetheat.com/products/wall-heaters/register-plus
Question: Would this heater work in a double stall garage
Answer: This unit comes with a metal box that is recessed into the wall cavity by a rectangular opening that you cut into the wall. This unit was installed in 2012 and has been working excellent ever since. I wired it to a timer switch that goes up to 60 mins so the switch can be turned on to run the unit for a set time, and this unit has its own thermostat control setting. It has worked great in our kitchen ever since. - recommend it! -Alan K

User questions & answers

Question: whats needed for low voltage control? Have low voltage thermostats in each room
Answer: I believe you can run up to 2500 watts with each thermostat. Should be rated for 110 volts.
Question: Will this work with a double 15 amp breaker, with both hot and neutral attached to breaker
Answer: The short answer is yes. However, the answer that states "You shouldn't use anything smaller than #12/3 for 220/240 heat" is not correct. Baseboard 240-volt heaters require two hot lines and do not need a neutral because there is no fan that might require it for 120-volt operation. For 15-amps you need only 13/2 wire and for 20-amps you need only 12-2 wire. You will use the neutral(white wire) as one of the hot lines off the breaker so it's always advisable to put some black tape over it on both ends to let someone know it's a hot line. If there will be more than one heater on the ine do the math to see what the total amperage will be and size both your wire and breaker accordingly. Using 12/3 wire is just a waste of money and you'll end up with a wire that serves no purpose because, in this heater, there's nothing to connect it to.
Question: Does this wire from right or left side
Answer: This baseboard heater can be wired from either side. The manual explains how to wire this depending on which side you choose.
Question: how big of an area is this for
Answer: Depending on how well insulated a room is one can figure somewhere between 7.5 to 12.5 watts per square foot. There are 250 watts per foot in a 240-volt electric baseboard heater. So this heater should cover about 75 square feet (3' x 250w divided by 10 watts per square foot), or an area that is 8.5 x 8.5 feet more or less. Note: Window and outside doors in an area will have a big effect on what size heater is required as these openings provide a poor insulation value.
Question: does the cadet 30-inch baseboard heater come with a thermostat or do I have to buy it separately
Answer: You have to buy you can get it on the unit
Question: Can this be painted
Answer: Yes with a quality enamel paint
Question: How many amps does each of these 30” units draw? Can I put two on a single 15amp circuit
Answer: The unit draws 4.16 amps 2 units ok on 15amp circut
Question: how many watts on the 30 inch
Answer: 500 watts

User questions & answers

Question: Is this the model that will work with a wall mounted thermostat? So that there isn't a themostat adjustment on the unit itself
Answer: Yes, the one that says it's Black in the listing title ("Lasko 5624 Low Profile Room Space Heater, Black") is Black.
Question: What size wire to the heater
Answer: Warm is OK. Hot is not. Even 1-2 watts of power dissipation will warm a plug sufficiently that you can feel it, but is perfectly safe. Given that this heater draws 1,500 W, it's likely that this amount of power is being dissipated at the plug. The very small resistance where the plug touches the socket contacts is sufficient to cause this. And given that the purpose of this device is to generate heat, it's not like it's 'waste' heat either!
Question: If I wanted to replace all baseboard heaters in my house , is this a more Efficient way to go or is it just designed to do a heater in a room
Answer: It uses 1500 watts per hour. In my area electricity is about 14 cents/kilowatt. So, if you use if for three hours per day that would be 135 kilowatts per month and cost $18.90/month. I use it to help heat our finished basement (14ftx42ft) and it does a great job. It's not cost effective to have it on all day long, but if I know I'm going to be in the basement I'll set if for 3-4 hours. It'll take the temp from 65 degrees up to 69 in well under an hour (more like 30-40 minutes).

User questions & answers

Question: Why does my heater turn on and off like every 15 seconds
Answer: You would not wire them in a series. They would function if wired in parallel, one after the other. Wiring them in series would drop the voltage across all three to the extent that none would function correctly. Their use would depend on the total amperage capacity of the circuit breaker that is carrying the load of all three heaters, plus, whatever else is on the same circuit
Question: how do you turn this on, with your foot? is it complete or are there any other attachments that I have to purchase to make it work
Answer: Cut a hole for it in toekick, secure with screws, wire to 220v, apply faceplate. We added a remote thermostat as well.
Question: What is the model number for the cadet perfectoe 18 in. x 3-1/2 in. 750-watt 240-volt? i have a uc072 that i need to replace. can this one replace
Answer: The box is 14 1/8" and the grill is 15 3/8"
Question: Can this be converted to 120 volt
Answer: Yes, as long as the thermostat is rated to handle the current this unit draws. Nearly any line voltage thermostat designed for a hard wired baseboard heater would work. I recommend a double pole thermostat. You could certainly bypass the heater's internal thermostat, but the combination would probably work just fine if you just set the internal thermostat at its highest setting and left it there.
