12 best wood stoves with blowers

Wood stoves with blowers are popular heating appliances used in homes to provide efficient and even heat distribution. These stoves come equipped with a blower or fan system designed to enhance the heating capabilities of the wood stove. Here's what you need to know about them:

  1. Improved Heat Distribution: The primary purpose of a blower in a wood stove is to improve the distribution of heat throughout the room. By blowing air over the hot surfaces of the stove and into the living space, the blower helps to circulate warm air more effectively, preventing hot and cold spots in the room.

  2. Enhanced Efficiency: Wood stoves with blowers can increase the overall efficiency of the stove. By moving air around the stove, they ensure that more heat is transferred from the stove to the room, reducing wasted heat.

  3. Fan Speed Control: Many wood stoves with blowers allow users to control the speed or intensity of the blower fan. This enables you to adjust the heat output according to your comfort level and heating needs.

  4. Quiet Operation: Modern wood stove blowers are designed to operate quietly, so they won't disrupt the peaceful ambiance of your home.

  5. Easy Installation: Wood stove blowers are usually straightforward to install and can be added to most wood stove models. They typically come with mounting brackets and instructions for installation.

  6. Energy Efficiency: Using a blower can help you burn wood more efficiently and reduce the amount of fuel needed to heat your home. This can translate into cost savings over time.

  7. Increased Safety: Properly installed blowers help cool the stove's exterior and reduce the risk of accidental burns. They also help ensure that the stove operates at a safe temperature.

  8. Maintenance: Like any mechanical component, wood stove blowers require some maintenance. Regular cleaning and lubrication of the fan motor and blades may be necessary to ensure optimal performance.

  9. Compatibility: When considering a wood stove blower, make sure it is compatible with your specific stove model. Some blowers are designed for particular stove brands or models.

  10. Cost: The cost of a wood stove blower varies depending on the brand and features. While they can add to the initial cost of a wood stove, their efficiency and heating benefits can make them a worthwhile investment.

In summary, wood stoves with blowers are designed to improve heat distribution, efficiency, and safety while using a wood-burning stove for heating. They are a valuable addition to any wood stove, making them more effective and comfortable heating solutions for your home.

Ashley Hearth AW1120E-P 1,200 Sq. Ft. EPA Certified Pedestal Wood Burning Stove, Black

Ashley Hearth

Based on 5 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Ashley Hearth Products AW1120E-P is a beautiful air tight plate steel wood burning stove with nickel-pewter trim that accents a charcoal black finish. A heavy cast iron door with air washed ceramic glass allows a magnificent view of the burning fire that will enhance any hearth setting. The AW1120E-P wood stove meets the stringent requirements of the EPA "Step 2" 2020 Certification Guidelines. This wood stove has 68,000 BTUs that can heat up to 1,200 square feet. The Ashley AW1120E-P burns logs up to 18 inches in length while the pedestal base provides an elegant touch to any room. Here's how it works: the primary air inlet at the front of the stove ignites the wood upon start up. Once burning, the secondary air inlet at the rear of the firebox feeds air to the top of the stove through three ignition tubes directly above the wood. The result is that you have ignition, or fire, at the bottom and at the top of the wood stove which, in effect, consumes the wood. This is a very efficient method of getting the most energy possible out of the wood that you are burning. The AW1120E-P model replaces the previous Vogelzang models TR001, TR001B, TR001WS and APS1100 wood stoves.

  • 68,000 BTUs heats up to 1,200 Sq. Ft.
  • Firebrick lined for long life and combustion efficiency while large ash pan with brushed nickel handle makes cleanup easy
  • Accepts logs up to 18" in length

  • Blower sold separately (model CB36 or B36)

Product description

How is the stove fan working?

The stove fan generates its own power by the heat from the stove. The stove fan uses thermoelectric technology to convert a temperature difference into electricity. At the center section of the stove fan base is a unique thermoelectric module. The module change the heat into the electricity.

How to use the stove fan?

Position the stove fan on a smooth flat surface of your stove top ,near the side or back of the stovepipe. The hotter the stove surface is, the more air the fan circulates.

Attention:

Recommended surface temperature is between 185F - 660F (85C - 350C). Temperatures above this range may damage the stove fan and the electricity generating units and invalidate your warranty.

Never handle the base of the stove fan, do not set the stove fan down on an unprotected surface when hot.

To move or carry the stove fan, always use the extendable handle while wearing gloves .

Keep the stove fan away from small children when in use.

What if you have questions or concerns?

Our Customer Care Team is available and ready to assist you. Simply email us with your Order# and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

Recommend buying 2 pieces to take full advantage of the heat from the stove.

  • Compact Size--8.7 x 6.7 x 3.6 inches,the material of the stove fan is aluminum.
  • No Batteries or Electricity required--The stove fan uses heat from the stove surface to spin, adjust its speed automatically with the stove surface temperature.
  • Longer lifetime--There is a Bi-metallic safety device in the base of the stove fan.If the surface temperature rises above around 300℃,the safety device gently elevates the front of the fan to protect the TEG and motor.
  • Whisper-quiet--The only moving part is the blade assembly. You don't even know the stove fan is there, but you FEEL the WARMTH!
  • Less Consumption ,More Efficiency--The stove fan will help reduce the fuel consumption and make the room warmer quickly.

User questions & answers

Question: can you really use this with a fireplace as the title in the ad states
Answer: I use this fan on my fireplace insert, which has a metal shelf about 8-9" wide right above the door. The fan begins to spin at 120 degrees or so, and spins fast at 320 degrees. If your stove or metal surface isn't hot enough, it won't work well, but at a reasonable heat, it moves hot air enough that it is uncomfortable to stand in front of it for long. I love the fact that it's quiet, doesn't use electricity, and warms the room.
Question: I have this 4 years. love it. this season, the blades started to wobble and make noise. can i tighten or fix anything
Answer: Probably the housing is becoming worn and play in the shaft Not sure if that’s adjustable
Question: Has anybody used this on a pellet stove at lower temp settings
Answer: The stove fan is designed to use on freestanding stoves with a normal surface temperature between 185° F - 660° F (85° C - 350° C).
Question: I have a nice enamel finish on my stove and don't want to scratch it. Does the bottom of the base have any material on it that would protect the stove
Answer: No it doesn’t have any bumpers or anything like that. Mine is an older stove so it is pretty tough but I haven’t had the fan move around on it’s own or anything so I’m sure if you were careful with putting it on the stove it won’t scratch.

Appalachian Wood Stove 3 Speed Blower Motor, Appalachian Item #0510-2002

User questions & answers

Question: Does stove have yo be hot for blower to run
Answer: No. You can trun the fan on manually. The fan will automatically go on when the stove reaches a pre-determined temp. you can set the desired fan speed.
Question: Is this fan/ blower loud
Answer: Not terrible , but you differently need it to get any heat from this stove !
Question: Does this motor have an internal thermostat that will shut it off if too hot
Answer: No it does not, but it shouldn't get too hot if the stove is not overfired.
Question: will this replace the bc274-A
Answer: I have the BC274 No. 7063-5807 which has a variable speed switch. If yours does as well, this would not work unless you replace the variable speed switch with a 3 position switch. To my eye this looks slightly taller than my current motor as well, though that may just be the angle of the picture, and I since I haven't ordered a replacement for mine yet (though I desperately need to soon) I also can't vouch for the angle/length of the mounting arms. Hope this helps somewhat!

User questions & answers

Question: Vermont castings sequoia uses the fk26. blower installed with the fireplace died. front opening only 4" high. must i disassemble new one to install
Answer: I installed one for my Mom and Dad.I don"t believe I had to disassemble the entire stove. I think I did it all from the rear.If your good at remembering how things come apart its pretty straight forward. If not,it might be best to get a serviceman. I had not ever done one before and it was not difficult. I think they quoted my parents appox. 200 dollars install.I got a very good price for the blower from amazon.Hope this gives you some options.
Question: Will this fit Vermont Castings Encore 2040? It seems to be a cross to their 2767 kit.. Thanks
Answer: Richard, I purchased this assembly for my 2040 and it matches up to the fan and temp sensor switch mounting holes. The wiring however is misrepresented in the accompanying pics. The pics show the wiring as being insulated as it is with the original from Majestic. The wiring on this fan is not insulated. (I suspect they borrowed the pics from Majestic) I wasn't comfortable installing the new fan with uninsulated wiring so I switched the old wiring to the new fan. Considering the price of this fan vs. the OEM fan from Vermont Castings, I am satisfied with the purchase. Also worthy of note: 1) the blower wheel is plastic on the new assembly where as the wheel on the original was metal. 2) The fan speed on the new is about the same on high, but overall the variable speed is not as variable on the new as the old. 3) The fan seems to move about as much air on high speed but is actually quieter than was the original...a desirable change.Hope that helps!
Question: Is this compatible with a Vermont casting radiance model 5078 convection blower
Answer: I used it on a Vermont Castings Stardance and it worked. I can't say for sure about the Radiance models.
Question: Part number matches but does it work on the Defiant
Answer: We have a Dutch West, not a Defiant so don’t know. Works well on our stove.
