User questions & answers
Question: | buy extra warranty or protection plan |
Answer: | Add me to the group! I purchased this iron a year ago. A year and TEN days ago. I know this because this morning when water started pouring out of my iron, I had to look up the date of purchase, so I could use my spiffy one year warranty. So much for that!! One year, and this pretty expensive iron is broken, ten days after the warranty expires. I am beyond frustrated, reading that this has happened to others who purchased one of these irons. My last iron was $12 at Walmart and lasted 15 years, four moves, 2 children, and a serviceman who wore BDU's, which needed to be ironed, five days a week. Get the warranty!! |
Question: | Are the lower heat settings gentle enough for jersey/stretch knit fabrics but still hot enough to get the job done right |
Answer: | Yes they are. That's part of what you're paying the high price for. I had another Rowenta iron similar to this and it had over 100 temperature settings. This is important if you iron a variety of delicate synthetic fabrics, because the cheap irons just don't "cut" it. |
Question: | is this iron made in Germany or China |
Answer: | Mine says Made in Germany on the iron. But don't do like I did and think it's an excellent product because it's not made in China. Wait till it starts leaking water out of the bottom. I can only use mine as a dry iron anymore. Read all the online reviews for this model. Leaking seems to be a common problem with these Rowenta's. |
Question: | why should I not use distilled water in my rowenta iron |
Answer: | I think the cleaning tap water after each use demand is reflective of the answer whether to utilize distilled H2O. I drink only distilled water for the past 30 years as it removes all impurities including radioactive isotopes ending up at 6.9 ph. Tap water is targeted at 7.2 ph, human blood 7.4 ph. Removal of the intended steam water after each use solves the standing water colloidalization of metal; then distilled no cleaning demand. For me, I will use this method with DISTILLED WATER and see my last iron last over 30 years until it breaks from age old wear. New iron, why should I change a sure thing of past experience; nope! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the voltage of this steam station |
Answer: | Yes - I am super critical of steam irons and especially those that are "leakers" - the only issue I have is you have to replenish the water when on a higher setting - specifically cotton and linen - Rowenta is the only iron product I have used for the past 20+ years and is an excellent product. More expensive but worth it - another hint/suggestion - after each use I self clean the iron pores from accumulated calcium build up. Found that over the years my Rowentas have lated longer due to careful cleaning. |
Question: | What is the difference between : rowenta perfect steam pressure iron/steamer and rowenta dg8520 perfect steam iron station eco energy with 400-hole st |
Answer: | Yes, there USA difference. You do get what you pay for. Irons are no exception to this rule. I have had a Rowenta 5080 and 8080, and now have the 9280. It is the best iron I have had. If you really want the best ironing experience, combine a Rowenta 9280 and a HOMZ Durabilt ironing board. Makes you look forward to ironing. World of difference-top notch iron and board combined. |
Question: | Why is the model in purple $64.37 more |
Answer: | It's about 3 cup or 26 ounces, the steam iron it's amazing best investment ever. I can iron two or three shirts with full tank. It's a steam iron and due to the 400 holes it uses a lot if water. |
Question: | Does this iron have auto shut off? And how long before shut off |
Answer: | I had the 5080. It worked well for a long time, but finally stopped producing steam. I next bought the 8080, used it for almost 6 years, and it still works. I treated myself to a new iron with the 9280. It is an excellent iron, the steam output is electronically controlled by the fabric selection you choose, thereby taking the guesswork out of manually controlling the amount of steam you use. The LED indicator for type of fabric is a nice feature, so you don’t have to check on the setting on the dial/switch. If you can afford it, and want to make ironing an easier task get the 9280. It is a real nice piece of equipment. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the product 50-60 Hz |
Answer: | Yes, 50-60 Hz |
Question: | Can you use tap water in this steamer |
Answer: | I would question using tap water or distilled water. Because I have 2 Rowenta irons. and love them both. I used only tap water for 2 years. I notice. my tank was getting a build-up on iron & rust. I called the company to how to a suggestion. clean it & water product to use. They were very helpful and told me how to clean it. They also suggested I use only bottled spring water . So now I buy small bottles ( like 12 oz ) to use in my Rowenta irons. . Just a suggestion . |
Question: | Do you have to use this upright, or can it be tilted downward without leaking water |
Answer: | Great product. I use this weekly for mixed fiber shirts. I have tilted this about 5-10 degrees on rare occasions without any leakage, but for best results I find it should be used upright. Also the steam is hot, so upright provides the ventilation. |
Question: | How long is the cord |
Answer: | Hi, The description mention 3 m (meters). Thanks |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this fan have a timer |
Answer: | It's a very nice fan, but it does not have a timer. |
Question: | where do you store the remote |
Answer: | The Rowenta VU5670 has storage for the remote. There's a slot in the carrying handle behind the fan, on top of the motor. |
Question: | Does it have a timer |
Answer: | I (carelessly) bought the VU551 in July 2018; it does not have a timer. There is a newer model -- same price -- and it does appear to have a timer. |
Question: | Can you remove the front grid easily to clean the blades |
Answer: | I say NO, and that is why I am even looking at this page. I bought mine in Aug, 2016. It does have the screw at the bottom, which allows you to slide down a clip. The problem lies in the plastic trim ring that goes around the whole edge of grille. It essentially locks in and seals the front and back grilles together. It does not give much leeway. I just spent 20 minutes trying to separate it- pop one grille out or just slide the trim ring off to either side. I tried it with two screwdrivers. Didn't work and I was afraid of busting the rim. Perhaps some of these other people who had it "easy" had a slightly different model/year. If you put this fan in any room with any humidity (maybe that's WHY you bought it in the first place??) then you ARE gonna have a rusted grille. Have fun getting metal dust in the air when you take that brush to clean the grille. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it steam men's dress shirts, given its back to rub shirts up against |
Answer: | I have not used it on a man's dress shirt. My husband likes his shirts starched so they go to the cleaners. Thus far, I have only used it to steam out wrinkles on silks, knits and previously ironed clothes that get wrinkles in the closet. The back is a great feature on the steamer. |
Question: | Can this be used to steam items that are not propped up vertically (e.g., bed linens that are laid out on the bed, sofa fabric, sofa slipcover |
Answer: | Yes, I do use it for bed linens, curtains - am sure you could use it on a sofa depending on the fabric. |
Question: | How long have you had this product? Any problems with parts melting/rusting? Mechanical failures (i.e. on/off button)? Thank you |
Answer: | i have had my steamer for about 9 months and I use it all the time. There is no melting, or rusting of any parts. There are also no mechanical failure problems. This is a great machine and well worth the money I invested. My ironing board is very lonesome now. :) |
Question: | Does this steamer come with the crease attachment |
Answer: | I didn't find a crease attachment, but I like it with that pull-down panel and with that I can make creases in my pants it takes a little getting used to how to maneuver it but it is not that hard, I can steam/press my clothes really quick. However, as far as cuffs & collars it comes out better if you use an iron in those areas. I checked to find the best steamer available and this model was in the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog as being the best of the best. I despise ironing but love my clothes steamer...full disclosure, I paid full price for it and did not receive anything for endorsing this product. |

Question: | It spits and leaks all over my clothes. Items are too wet to wear right away. How do I solve this problem |
Answer: | No, I haven't found anything that would override it. I also use it for quilting and would rather it stayed on. I found out later that the Rowenta Focus does stay on. If I had known that at the time, I would have purchased it instead. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Size/dimensions of this steamer |
Answer: | The correct answer is that the iron will shut itself off if it is on and (1) you leave it flat for 30 sec., (2) tip it over for 30 sec., or (3) leave it vertical for 8 min. Unplugging the iron is not an AUTO turn-off. |
Question: | I just tried mine for the first time. The steam comes out (a little more than an iron) consistently, but it is not very strong. Is this normal |
Answer: | I can see the water level rise as I add water to the iron. You can see the level through the clear plastic cover. That said, this is a powerful iron that puts out a lot of steam. Therefore, it goes through a tank of water after I iron just two or three shirts. I am happy to refill the chamber as needed, since this powerful iron will take the wrinkles out of any fabric. |
Question: | where was it made |
Answer: | 120 volt |
Question: | Is there a way to override the auto shutoffs it will stay on. I need this feature for quilting |
Answer: | DG8520 has safety clip for nose of iron (plus indented heel area to securely hold iron nose to heel - iron stays securely in place since its gripped by both sides) - keeps unit snug together with less chance of falling while transporting (previous iron could flip off during transport as you have to physically hold onto both top iron and bottom generator/station unit). DG8520 also has on/off switch (for previous models without built in on/off switch - its possible to plug into power strip with on/off switch) which previous models do not... along with larger water tank. Both can be filled with water without unit having to be cooled down. Just refill and keep on pressing! ;)I've owned several of the last 3 models (for my sewing business - these Rowenta iron steam stations can be your best friend - saves time for repetitive motions)... and like the DG8520 the best. The built in on/off switch and longer time between refilling have spoiled me... plus it's neat that I can carry unit without fear of iron being bumped off while in transport. |
Question: | what does 3 way auto shut off mean |
Answer: | The designs are different. I am completely happy with the purple one. I had two previous models that I hated because they dribbled water all over, so (personally) I would not even bother with the cheaper one. In fact, I might buy another purple model to have in storage in case Rowenta changes the design on the NEXT model. |
Question: | how can you tell when the steam iron is getting low on water - I can't even see how much I am putting in once it goes inside the iron |
Answer: | From the description: SAFETY COMES FIRST WITH ROWENTA - Stay-cool fabric hose; 3-way auto-off feature shuts iron off after 8 Min. of inactivity on heel and 30 Sec. on soleplate or tipped over on its side |

User questions & answers
Question: | How often or how long should these last? Also how do you know which ones need replaced |
Answer: | Absolutely NOT. I was mixing cement which meant the hose was under pressure for 30 to 40 mins at a time. The connector blew out after about 3 cycles of this. |
Question: | I just bought this filter. It has a strong scent. Is it normal |
Answer: | Taylor, 'lead' in this description is meant like 'leader'. It's a lead hose, meaning it is small like a connector hose. Lead does not equal lead (led) as in pencils. But no, I do not see where it says it is drink safe. I do see that hybrid hoses appear to be and they're very flexible. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could the Rowenta DA1560 start a fire |
Answer: | The Rowenta DA1560 that I had started smoking and a terrible smell came from the iron. It didn't actually have flames coming out of it, but I unplugged it before that could happen. I did replace the one that was defective with another Rowenta DA1560 and I have not had any problems. |
Question: | Does it have auto shut off |
Answer: | No, it doesn't have the auto shut off feature. |
Question: | Where is the cord located |
Answer: | The cord is located on the back (bottom), to the right of the flat surface the iron rests on when upright. |
Question: | My handle will not stay up and it worked fine until now. I have used it for a project and now am very disappointed. What do I do? It seems unusable |
Answer: | I painfully smashed my fingers twice using this iron. I barely apply pressure to the handle and it collapses. I liked that it gets very hot, but not if my fingers get sandwiched between the handle and the heat. Very poor design. My Conair mini iron works much better. Tossing it in the trash can. Don't buy! |

User questions & answers
Question: | I know you should replace this filter when dirty, but does it need changed.. meaning will the unit operate properly without this filter bring changed |
Answer: | No, it will not do that ....for me, I had to order the battery replacement by mail and during this time period the securing screws were misplaced. WATCH THE BATTERY CHANGE. |
Question: | I need pu 4020 nanocapture but can’t not find one |
Answer: | Not true -- it does have a countdown timer. The Oslo Silver 2.0 Twin has three modes: split, lap, and countdown. And the countdown mode can count down from as high as 9 hours and 59 minutes. I own three of these. |
Question: | Rowenta, purchased nano from Amazon but it is not effective as the original from Rowenta |
Answer: | Utility sink faucets are usually fitted with the same threads as hose bibbs. A washing machine supply line has a female connector on each end. Connect the washer hose to the utility sink faucet, connect the garden hose to the other end of the washing machine hose. I cannot guess why you want to do this, but knock yourself out! |
Question: | I just received my filter and the Nana captur granules are not yellow, they are white. Did anyoane else experience that |
Answer: | I just have the very short connector hose. It stays outside for now. Mine was not overwhelming however not full length hose |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are there cheaper filters |
Answer: | I don't think so |
Question: | Does this fit the pu2025 tefal air purifier intense pure air xl |
Answer: | No idea. I am not familiar with the tefal air purifier. |
Question: | Does this fit the rowenta pure air pu3030/pu |
Answer: | I believe so |
Question: | Has anyone found a less expensive alternative |
Answer: | I have not, however...the fact that this filter only needs replacing every 3 years helps me reason out the cost to be just over $10 a year for the filter so that really is not bad. And I try to take the front off every couple weeks and I use my vacuum hose with the round brush attachment and clean the front of the screen filter & the black filter behind it. ( We have cats so it gets dust & fur collected) This helps stretch the hepa filter changing to the 3 years. This is the best air purifier in my opinion. Hope that helps. :) |
