Answer:	It gives the dimensions in the description. Considering a standard paper is 8.5X11, and this is intended to hang files, which are made of paper, all these people saying 6.5 " is the size are obviously incorrect

Answer:	Just opened mine with a nail file from a nail clipper. Definitely only keeps honest people out. It takes me about 2 seconds to open with the nail clipper and about 2 seconds with the keys. (On the plus side, replacement keys are easy to find. LOL) Even if the lock cylinder was better, you could just drill where the lock latches within a short period of time. I bought this for heat protection, rather than security. It's a great place to keep digital copies of family photos and what not. I would probably opt to keep sensitive documents in a safety deposit box. If the fire rating didn't require the unit to be latched, I'd just leave it unlocked all of the time. TLDR: Ease of break-in: 10/10 Security: 1/10

Answer:	I expect so. The unit is just a cluster of timer-controlled switches. If your fan can be controlled with a conventional electro-mechanical switch, I expect these will work also.
Question:	Is there a way to shut the vent to save on heating costs when not in use
Answer:	ignore the seller he is clueless and probably can't speak english well enough to explain. The LED color indicates if you are in automatic or manual mode. - When white it is in auto mode and reacts based on current programmed humidity threshold (1 , 2 or 3, with 1 being the most sensitive). you don't touch the push button it will come on and go off after the humidity drops. - When red, it indicates that you are in manual mode. Basically you are controlling fan on/off based on button push/toggle. What is confusing (and kind of stupid) is that if you push the button you essentially are throwing the thing into the manual mode (red). And it will only react to button pushes to turn on /off. To get it back into automatic mode after you have thrown into manual mode, you push again and it runs for 20 minutes and then it will go back into auto mode. (as indicated by white LED). What makes it difficult to understand is that if you have the programming too sensitive it will just always run and never shut off. Once you get it set right and in auto mode it is best to never touch the button.

Question:	Can you use the fan without the thermostat feature? I don't want it going on and off all night long
Answer:	I think the other replies were with older models? I just purchased this model and there's no issue with opting out of the thermostat feature. As noted in the instructions, to get to continous air flow, you just keep clicking the button through the modes (first you click throught the various thermostat temperatures, and then you get to "high" or "low" as options. If you click high or low either one will stay on continously. Both options are extremely quiet. It sounds like the person who had a louid nose on the low setting had a defective fan.
Question:	I want to use this in a stand-alone one room dance studio with only one window. If it's very hot outside, will this really keep it cool inside
Answer:	It’s not an AC unit so it will only be as cool (or slightly less hot) as the air from the source. That being said you could use this fan on Exhaust to suck hot air out and use a tower fan to create a breeze in the room. But to cool a room on a 90+ degree day, I’d recommend a window AC. This fan will circulate air tho, so it’s not a bad place to start.
Question:	I need the CFM and decibel (noise) ratings on this fan. These are my two most crucial criteria, but no one shows them
Answer:	This is our second window fan. I don't remember what brand/model etc our first fan was, but the CFM WAS WAY higher than this Holmes fan. My assumption is by lowering the maximum fan speed & thus drastically lower the CFM, they can advertise the fan as being quieter and using less energy. ***We have used this fan for 2 years and we DO NOT recommend it if you are looking for a high CFM (volume) fan***

Answer:	I’ve been using an older version of this fan for about 20, yup, 20 years. I use it in a garage studio. Sometimes it runs for months 24/7. It’s slowing down, tons of dirt and mysterious things on it. While it is exhaling i spray wd30 on it till it speeds up again, lol. I have absolutely punished this fan. But like I said, I run it all year, summer and winter. One side died about 4 years ago, but the other is running as we speak. The reason I saw this is because I was looking to see if they still made it. Yay they do; and it is very quiet. Next paycheck I’m getting a new one. I love the intake exhaust function,brilliant! So happy they’re still available. Can’t go wrong, and not a lot of money.

Answer:	It really depends on what you mean by quiet. You can hear it on low speed but it is not annoying. As you increase the speed, the sound because more noticeable. I would say that it is just as quiet as a 20" bladed fan can be. It is the blades rotating in the air that make the sound. The only way to reduce the sound would be to decrease the blade's angle-of-attack or decrease the fan's rotation speed. Either one results in less air movement. Sound is air movement, therefore, more air movement (which is what fans do) equals more sound. I hope that this helps.

Answer:	I haven't gotten too fancy with the settings - didn't use the sleep mode or others - but the same speed and oscillation came back when I turned it on the next day - the same I had set it for the day before. So I didn't notice any 'reset'.
