Answer:	If you tilt it the opposite way, you won't have the ridge to your laptop on the surface. However, the surface can be rotated to accommodate left handers. Just remember that the locks for tilting do not lock.

Answer:	NO. The neck of the TABLE (where the silver bar slides into the black tune on the base) adjusts up and down, and the tabletop adjusts to TILT and to TURN. But NO, it does not extend outward. I found the best way to adapt to that dilemma is to position the table with the base brace BEHIND the table (away from me), sliding the feet straight forward under my seat/bed, turning the table top towards me and adjusting the height and tilt as needed, then use a small clipboard with a mousepad instead of the built-in mousepad tray. I've tried multiple laptop tables, and this is the ONLY one that fits exactly where I need it in BOTH locations I have to use my laptop. And it's the ONLY one I've found to be stable and strong enough to last, too. The last model before this only lasted 2 months, and the tack welds holding it together broke under the weight of a small CAT (feline). This one will LAST. It is definitely worth trying. The arm leading under the top is extended a decent height and length, so honestly, you shouldn't need longer.
