Although it is usually passed, as was stated by the others, via bodily fluids such as saliva and blood, if an infected person sneezes, the infected particles are spewed into the air and can, and HAVE, infected someone nearby who inhaled the airborne particles. However, this has been shown to be rare and infection generally is by way of direct contact. As for this being any protection, you'd have to use the correct filters and/or other apparatus. Viruses are extremely small, even compared to bacteria. In order to prevent them from passing through the filter, you'd need one specifically designed for that purpose. Offhand I'm not sure any of those listed are suitable. To be absolutely sure, I'd check with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and ask their advice. That's only if you're absolutely set on subjecting yourself to exposure to this deadly, and rather nasty viral contagion. Of course, just traveling to an area known to have had cases of ebola would require numerous permits and safety measures taken ahead of time. Personally, unless you know a whole lot more about it, I'd steer clear. Ignorance about ebola and its infective capabilities will only make you an easy target. I've got bachelor's degrees in biochemistry and biology and I wouldn't go within 500 miles of an infected area. Why would you? And if you live in the United States, there's no need for protection as there are no present cases here and those traveling into America are checked for signs of illness from infectious diseases before being allowed on the plane, and again before getting off. You don't need to take apart the 2 pieces for cleaning, just take off the filters. I don't think it would be worthwhile to replace either piece of the respirator separately.

The chemical cartridges are specific to exposure. 3m has a page on their website titled "3m PPE Safety Solutions", this page will direct you to a matrix for specific exposure/cartridge matching. "Warning" before entry into an OSHA/NIOSH PEL or IDLH atmosphere, a fit test is suggested and I would say mandatory for personal safety. Certain atmospheres of use would mandate a full face piece or gas-proof goggles.

Place the respirator over your nose and mouth with bottom straps unfastened.

Pull the top strap over your head, placing the head cradle on the crown of your head.

Hook the bottom straps together behind your neck.

Answer:	With the exception of children-sized masks, I haven't come across any adult custom-sized masks over the past 8 months (I started buying masks in Feb. 2020). That said, you are right, not all masks are equal in size, fit, or quality. Comparing the Broad KN95 mask that comes with the device to the 10 other KN95 styles I have, IMO this mask is on the larger side. It forms nicely to the shape of my face, and forms a tight complete seal around the face, more so than some of my other masks do. A simple seal test you can do with any mask: when wearing it does breathing become difficult? When inhaling does the mask get sucked into your face. If the answer is "yes" to both then the seal is tight. Mask and facial details that can affect the seal include: how tight the elastic bands pull the mask close to your face; HOW the mask sits against your face; the configuration/shape of your face compared to the shape of the mask edges (e.g., if you have hollow cheeks the mask may not form a tight seal in the cheek area). Today I used scissors to manually cut 1/2" (12mm) in some of my masks. Worked perfectly with the Broad. When my $45 grommet maker arrives I plan to choose the best fitting masks for use with the Broad. With the two additional devices I bought, the extra batteries, HEPA filters, carbon filter, hoses, and rubber mask "mounts" I'll be set for a long time. Like I said in my review, once you use the Broad AirPro mask you will NEVER want to go back to using plain ol' masks.

Answer:	I don’t believe that. The air you take in is filtered through a HEPA filter, which can take out particulates PM 2.5 and even lower. Covid viral particles average 0.125 microns, and it can also remove them. I am an environmental engineer. I strongly suspected covid was airborne, so bought this mask with a pump and filter. Ps. Airborne means it can travel much farther than 6 feet that droplets travel, depending on temperature, humidity and air mass movement. Like opening a perfume bottle in a room. It can eventually diffuse around the room, but the rate can be changed by fans or other air movement.

Answer:	It is ok be hooked to your compressor. Don't know the connection type of your mask or helmet. It should be Bayonet, just as 3M 6000 series masks.

Answer:	This is NOT recommended hydraulic oil is not ideal. The use of a vegetable oil would be a smarter idea, But would need to be changed more often in the compressor. There are other better options in air supply delivery. But with the right filtration system, this could be done. The charcoal filter helps with the removal of must of the oils but would need to be changed more often as well. A good filter is a must to be safe as long as the system get maintained and kept in proper working order, Be safe and maintain fresh air to the user.
