Should the unit need to be drained, the drain plug should be removed and the condensation collected in a separate container. Answer:	No, but the compressor does stop running until the room temp warms up to the temp you set. Then compressor starts running again to cool the room. It will cycle this way indefinately and only turn off if you turn off the power, or the timer was set to turn off, or if there's a power outage.
