Answer:	The ribbed hose on mine came with a hole in it also, strange. i had to make sure the water level is above the hole other wise the water pump beeps and then stopped.

Answer:	Yes, It can be work as a fan, if you don't select "COOL" option. But sound noise is louder compare to a plain fan. In the COOL position is stay the same noise as fan.

Answer:	When filled, the water in the tank can last 8 hours (I've had it last longer somehow), but the ice pack will only last maybe 2 hours in warm water. So you will get 2 hours of cold water (extra cold air) and 6 hours of room temp water (cool air).

Question:	Is it loud
Answer:	Fans moving air tend to be somewhat loud. The more air moved the more cooling effect you get. I would say many people would think it is loud. I think it is functional. Turn up the radio or TV and the sound from the fan will tend to become less noise and more background.

Answer:	We run the unit for 3-4 hours and have to refil it every other day. We run the air on high and flow of water nearly max. Hope this helps. It's a great unit for the 350 sq foot space we use it in.

Answer:	Moving air is always noisy. The more air you move the louder it gets. The unit itself is actually quiet considering the amount of air it moves. There is minimal motor sound and on low speed it is relatively quiet. We just upgraded to a window mount unit that moves 4500 CFM and it makes the Honeywell seem very quiet. bBasically it is about the same sound level as a fan moving the same amount of air.

Answer:	There is some really bad answers on this question and several of the other questions which suggest a basic lack of physics knowledge. First a couple of definitions. 1 calorie = the amount of energy to raise the temperature of one gram of water one degree celcius. So to bring 1000 grams of water (roughly a quart) from freezing (0 degrees celcius) to the point of vaporization is 1000 grams x 100 degrees = 100,000 calories. (Note: the Calories you measure in food are actually kilocalories so this amount of energy is equivalent to 10,000 calories of food.) The second definition is called the latent heat of vaporization. This is the energy required to turn one gram of water into one gram of vapor. When our sweat evaporates, it carries The latent heat of vaporization for water is 540 calories. So to evaporate that same 1000 grams of water (about 1 quart) it takes 540 x 1000 = 540,000 calories. This is the cooling effect that we get from sweating. When our sweat evaporates it carries away 540 calories of heat energy from our body. The same thing happens when you evaporate a quart of water with an evaporative cooler by passing air through the sponge. The air becomes wetter and cooler. This is a real cooling effect that works but is not as powerful as an air conditioner. Air conditioners are usually rated in thousands of BTUs/hr and a typical window unit is capable of about 6000. 1 BTU is about 250 calories so for for an evaporative cooler to have a cooling effect of 6000 BTUs it would need to evaporate 2343 grams or more than 1/2 gallon of water per hour. That is going to saturate the air pretty fast and the cooler is going to lose effectiveness unless there is a constant source of dry air. So yes, an evaporative cooler does actually cool the ambient temperature of a room and the people who are saying otherwise don't understand physics. Whether it can cool a 500 square foot room depends on numerous variables. If the humidity is high then the evaporative cooling will be low and the unit will not be effective. A constant source of dry air is a big help. But if the dry air is from outside it might also be a constant source of heat so it might be counter productive. If you could pull dry cool air from your crawlspace it would help. If the room is poorly insulated it will make a big difference. Probably, the reason the room is hot is because it is poorly insulated. Chances are this means the cooler will only be marginally effective because heat is radiating into the room through the walls and windows faster than the cooler can cool it down. These coolers really work but they are not as effective as air conditioners which makes sense because they use a LOT less energy.
Question:	will this work as a fan without water? weather is usually dry but occasionally humid
Answer:	I would imagine it would , since there is the "humidity/cool" button. In our case , our a/c freezes up, when our outside temp goes over 93 degrees. We turn the reg a/c off, fill up the SPT evap roll around cooler, and use that. It has to be the best "just over $110" investment we've ever bought. We live in Arizona, it's not that humid. Bought it 2 years ago to cool the garage, which faces west. Maybe you should contact the cooler company, for the "without water".

Answer:	I would contact Amazon and ask to return the unit. It should not be leaking and you should not be responsible for the repair. One question though: Did you overfill it? You have to be so careful to keep the water below the line on the tank level.

Answer:	In all honesty, in my experience, 0 minutes. My unit may've been defective but it literally only blew out room temperature air.

Answer:	Yes, the bin doesn't come all the way out. There's a drainage plug near the back. I haven't done it yet, but I assume you let as much water as possible drain out and then wipe the bin.
Question:	Would this unit work in a small, windowless room in NYC
Answer:	No, it won't likely work. This is a swamp cooler, and it needs open windows to work efficiently. In a windowless room the unit will just build humidity rather than cooling. Also, the humidity in New York is likely too high for it to function, since they do not cool when humidity is higher than 40%.

Answer:	Yes. The same button that turns on the humidifier turns on the light. The only difference is, you hold it for three seconds to turn on the light. Answer:	Try using a stable platform as a riser. An inverted flower pot comes to mind, there are endless size options, they are fairly hefty but not unmanageable and inverting provides a solid base. Turn it over and you have a cozy container for the device. Of course there endless other options just as good.

Answer:	Make sure the cylinder has water in it. Make sure the top is fitted properly into the base. Make sure the USB plug is properly hooked up to an electrical outlet. Answer:	I read somewhere not to add anything other than water to the water tank. The unit is made by Intertek. Maybe their website has more information. Having said that, I put ice in the water tank to cool our room faster. We absolutely love this unit.

Answer:	Hello, Thank you for contacting NewAir, I apologize for the experience that you are facing but I am more than happy to assist with your issue! We recommend a half-and-half compound. The first half of the mix is clean water. As for the second, lemon juice or citric acid are both excellent mold killers. Clean and dry the tank with this cleansing agent. Pay special attention to the drying stage, for you're trying to get rid of the damp, not create more. Treat the hoses and cooling pads with the same mix, then you should use a damp cloth to wipe away any residue. Dry everything. By the way, a half-and-half vinegar and water substitute also works. Just don't use the mix on the pads, not unless you want the smell of vinegar in the air whenever the newly cleaned evaporative cooler is utilized. Best Regards Customer Care

Answer:	I use the kind you purchase in the sporting goods area for small camping/lunch size coolers. I pop 1 or 2 in the tank and voila! Cool air!

Answer:	That is a difficult question (what does "cover" mean?). I live in a one-bedroom apartment that is normal. I have it at the furthest point (in the corner of the living room because I do not want significant moisture hitting my computer in the bedroom) from where I sleep. All I can say is this humidifier is the best thing I bought in 2016. Waking up with dry and crusty, sometimes somewhat bloody, snot and a raw throat during the winter dry months is over. Also, I only keep it at about 75% power since maximum seems to go overboard. As a critical person, I am very happy with this product. I have already recommended it to one of my friends.
Question:	I'm not good with converting the amps to watts thing, so how many watts of power does this draw
Answer:	Not sure exactly what you mean but the on and off control is a dial. The dial has low/off on one side then turns up to high on the other with the ability to chose any setting in between as it rolls up. There is no light with the humidity dial. However there is a separate independent button that turns on a night light that shines through the water in one of three colors red green blue ( I tell my son they're Jedi/smith light saber colors so he gets to pick each night what kind of Jedi or sith he wants to be). The night light is decently bright but not too bright as it's diluted by the water.

Question:	When I push the cooler-humidifier button it only stays lit for about 45 seconds. And then the unit beeps, any suggestions
Answer:	How is your water?? In Utah the water is all mineral and some water. After a season, the pump gums up to where it will not turn. After 45 seconds the blue light shuts off because no water is moving. Take off the filter to observe. The pump is removable but it is sealed. With cord unplugged, remove the motor, observe the white impeler, spin it with a toothpick to free it up. unfortunately this is temporary. New pump is about $35. I have same problem with my fountain pump, but i can take it apart to clean. White vinegar is suppose to help.
Question:	What's the ampage on this thing? My apartment's circuit breaker unfortunately flips at 15 amps, so I'm limited to what I can buy

Answer:	I live in Santa Cruz a block from the ocean. Maybe those complaining it is so humid here are those who are not from an area that really IS humid. I also used these in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I am from the east coast where sweat will drip down your body. Here it is much drier. I would never recommend this for the east coast; you need a real air conditioner there. Mine works great. I have two in my house. I like that it's portable and you can adjust the speed and thrust of the air. My cats like it, too, and often lay in front of it. Or maybe those who are unhappy with it are used to regular air conditioners. It is a swamp cooler!

What is a swamp cooler

Answer:

I'd have to say no about the base. Mine starts to get a pink film after a few days and there are tight spaces and lots of them on the base making it difficult to use a small brush and soap to brush off. I also had to rinse the soap off and was scared of getting water inside the unit. I hope the electrical parts are properly waterproofed, I'd rather not get electrocuted trying to clean the base. The tank is easy to clean with a sponge and soap but the tank wasn't what got dirty.
