I’d measure it to hang where you want your feet to touch the ground enough to be able to sit down (without having to climb up and in) and where you can have your feet still touch enough to swing/sway start and stop your swing/chair. Ours hung from a very tall pergola, so the length of the chain it’s hanging from will vary depending on what you’re hanging it from and how high from the ground you need it to be. Measure a chair that you comfortably sit in so you can see how high off the ground you want the bottom of the swing/chair to be when hanging. Hope that helps

Answer:	I hung mine with the rope provided. It is over 2 2x6 crossbeams on my deck. I just tied a lose knot. However, it does gray the rope like this and would be better if you had a hanging stand or something sturdy like that.

Question:	How does this chair swing hang from the ceiling? There are no directions. Not sure if it hangs from 2 hooks or 1 and what kind of knot is used
Answer:	First, I reinforced the ceiling. I ordered a spring on amazon after having no luck at local hardware stores. It holds 500lbs. and has two open ends to hook rope to steel ring mounted to ceiling. The ring has a plate with 4 holes. Simply google hammock or hanging chair hardware, you’ll see several options. The rope is so thick, I did a simple loop knot on bothe ends. I didn’t double up like in the picture because it looked so bulky. The single rope is absolutely strong enough. Hope this is helpful, it’s my favorite chair!
