Answer:	Yes the fishing pole is strong and my toddler can hook the fish but it takes him a couple of seconds but also keeps his attention, and it taught him something new. So overall, I'd buy it again.

Answer:	It does not actually reel in the fish. It would not do any lifting. My son still loves it, though.

Answer:	It is manufactured wood with veneer over it. Parts of it, like the top of the steps, are fiberboard. By the sink, ours got wet. The fiberboard expanded, and the dowels holding it together broke. We're lucky no one was hurt!
