Answer:	I measured from the floor to the top of the seat cushion with a straight edge pressing the carpet down. It was 16.2 inches for one chair and 17.3 inches with another chair.

FYI you are better returning the chair now because we have had it for only months and the screws keep popping out, wheels fall off occasionally, and the fabric has completely matted and it's impossible to make it look decent.
