Question:	Why is the white one more money
Answer:	Once I fill the kettle with water (34 oz), I turn it on by clicking the button on the top of the handle. The water begins to simmer and then boil in a little over 5 minutes. The kettle automatically shuts off with a soft click. I don't find the sounds offensive. There are two soft clicks and a soft sounding hissing sound that lets me know that the water is being heated. I love the kettle for boiling water when making French press coffee, Jello, tea, etc., and rinsing down my sink. There is no comparison to a whistling tea kettle perched on your stove! This kettle will not wake a sleeping baby.

Answer:	The interior is plastic but the bottom plate is stainless steel. Overall this device works very well. We have had an older model which has worked fine for over 5 years...

Answer:	Lid opens on a hinge, the design is sound. You would only need to 'clean' the kettle if you have very hard water & it scales over time. If that is the case you just swish with white vinegar & water like any other kettle.

Answer:	You can remove it. I had the exact same issue, thinking “great, can’t clean it.. lid and filter don’t come off”. While the lid definitely doesn’t — major issue! The filter will pop out if you pull a bit harder than you are comfortable. You think you’ll break it, but it’ll just pop out. Try heating water so it’s all warm and gives easier..though not necessary. And then pinch with thumb and index finger. Wiggle it a little and start pulling directly upwards. There nothing latching it on, so there’s nothing that will break. Though if you do this at an angle, a small holder hook could break eventually, so pull straight up. Definitely a terrible design! Older Bodum Ibis was far better.
