Answer:	10-1/2 inches
Question:	How thick a mattress (in inches) will the trundle take without actually touching the upper bed
Answer:	I ordered a 6” memory foam mattress for the trundle and there is at least 1-1.5” of clearance.
Question:	What is the maximum weight limit for the bed and trundle
Answer:	I don't know the max, I'm 270 and it holds me with no problems.
Question:	Can use a regular thickness twin mattress
Answer:	I just assemble the bed and trundle. I have not ordered the mattresses yet because I wanted to measure the clearance. You have 7" for a mattress on the trundle - any larger and it will not slide easily under the bed. The top mattress can be any thickness you choose.

Answer:	The trundle is the same size as the top day bed. The arms are actually on the out side of the mattress ends, so the whole day bed is actually a few inches longer and wider than a twin mattress.
