Answer:	There is nothing to extend. I used the camera holder to set it up on a regular tripod and it worked great (has typical 1/4" threaded hole). This is a great tripod for setting up on objects like a table, rock, etc.

Answer:	Noy comfortably. I out my 7DMk II with a 24-105L on it and while it holds ok in a pinch, in the long run, the ball head would probably get stressed enough that over time, it won't hold the weight. Now the Rebel is lighter and with a 50mm prime (the "nifty fifty"), I think the tripod would hold up but I'd still look for something a little sturdier. I'd worry about using it on a regular basis for a DSLR - even one as light as the Rebel.
