2 best alternative comforters
Alternative comforters, often referred to as "down alternative comforters" or "synthetic comforters," are bedding options designed to mimic the warmth and coziness of traditional down-filled comforters without using natural down feathers. Here's what you should know about alternative comforters:
Material: These comforters are typically filled with synthetic materials such as polyester fibers or microfiber. The filling is designed to replicate the insulating properties of down feathers.
Hypoallergenic: One of the key advantages of alternative comforters is that they are hypoallergenic.Unlike natural down, which can trigger allergies in some people due to dust mites or allergens, synthetic fillings are less likely to cause allergic reactions.
Warmth: Alternative comforters come in various warmth levels, just like traditional down comforters. You can find options suitable for different seasons, from lightweight options for summer to heavier, warmer comforters for winter.
Weight: These comforters often have a similar weight to down-filled comforters, providing a comfortable and cozy feel without being overly heavy.
Durability: Synthetic fillings tend to be more durable than natural down, as they are less prone to clumping or losing their loft over time. This makes alternative comforters a long-lasting bedding option.
Easy Care: Cleaning and maintenance are relatively simple with alternative comforters. Many are machine-washable, making it convenient to keep them clean and fresh.
Price: Alternative comforters are generally more affordable than down-filled comforters, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious shoppers.
Allergies and Vegan-Friendly: These comforters are an ideal choice for individuals with allergies or those who prefer cruelty-free and vegan products, as they do not contain animal-derived materials.
Design and Aesthetics: Alternative comforters are available in various designs, colors, and patterns, allowing you to choose one that complements your bedroom decor.
Size Options: They come in various sizes to fit different bed sizes, including twin, full, queen, king, and California king.
In summary, alternative comforters are synthetic bedding options that provide warmth, comfort, and coziness similar to traditional down comforters. They are hypoallergenic, durable, and easy to maintain, making them a popular choice for a wide range of sleepers. Whether you're looking for a lightweight summer option or a warmer winter comforter, there are alternative comforters available to suit your needs and preferences.

Question: | Does this sleep hot ?? Is it heavy |
Answer: | This is not a heavy comforter - compared to my old down comforter, it feels very light. But I find that it sleeps INCREDIBLY hot. |
Question: | Should this be washed befoure using it |
Answer: | Yes, always wash any fabric that will be having skin contact before using. Whether it is a blanket, clothes etc. You need to wash it first to get the dyes and other chemicals off. |
Question: | what kind of duet cover will work with this insert's corner tabs? How does one attach corner tabs to cover's corners |
Answer: | I don't know how these work w/o sewing fabric ties on both comforter and duvet. I found the perfect answer for any duvet and it holds comforter in place w/o slipping, tearing, shifting or sewing! I found these clear hard plastic circles (doubles-one snaps inside the other ) to hold corners in place w/o any problems. I first used them 4 a med. weight comforter (not this one) and an antique lace duvet. Held beautifully and invisibly w/no damages. With the corner tabs, you just put the larger circle on the top of tab and the smaller circle on the outside bottom of the duvet cover and snap together.Voila! I can't recall the name but Bed,Bath & Beyond has a four-pack for about $10-$12.Just tell them what you are looking for and that you need clear plastic comforter/duvet cover corner holders. They also last forever and are easy to remove for cleaning or changing styles. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this comforter be good in an unheated bedroom in upstate NY during the winter |
Answer: | I suggest using two duvet inserts. We keep our bedroom very cool and I use two inserts without covers during the winter. Very light weight yet warm and cozy. |
Question: | What is the fabric content |
Answer: | Packaging states, "this comforter is made from super microfiber...treated with an anti-microbial and anto-allergic finish..." Tag states, "Face: 100%Polyester; Filling: 100% Polyester, 3D Hollow Siliconized; and Back: 100% Polyester. Hope this helps! |
Question: | should I also buy a duvet cover? or is just this enough |
Answer: | Traditionallly you would put it in a duvet cover. I can't stand them - they're difficult to put on and never look as nice as in ads. We put a patterneed sheet on top of it that is one size smaller (so the edges of the comforter show). We'd seen something similar done in an upscale hotel. The sheet keeps the comforter clean and can be tossed in the wash every week or two - or changed out for a different look. Just my take! |
Question: | This may sound silly, but this is what goes inside of a duvet cover right? new to the whole duvet thing |
Answer: | Yeah, it's kind of oddly-described. It's just a fluffy blanked thing you sleep under. You CAN put it inside a "duvet cover." Think of it just like a pillow and pillowcase. Have you even been tired and gone to bed and realized you'd taken off your pillowcases and were too lazy to put on new clean ones, and then just slept on the pillow, like a caveman (well, a caveman with a pillow). This is the same thing -- you don't really NEED the cover, especially on something that's $20. Originally, European Duvets were often valuable, and of course you'd put them in a cover to protect them, so you could just take off and wash the cover, same as you wash a pillowcase. The other reason is that feature/down duvets (aka comforters) in some cases have little poky things from the feathers, and a duvet cover (especially one with rugged fabric) would keep these from bother you while you slept. For this cover, it's really not necessary, but it will probably have a more finished look if you do put it inside a cover. Or just go to sleep, whatever you feel like. That's what i do... |
