Answer:	I'm delighted with mine, but I didn't put books on it. I have more decorative things on it. It is pretty sturdy and seems durable, but I'd pack it up gently with books to see how it works. I'd start with heavy books on the lowest shelf and then move to lighter books on the upper shelves. This is not designed as a bookcase. If you are putting SOME books on it along with other things you'd probably be okay. But if your primary concern is a sturdy bookcase I think I'd instead buy a bookcase. I'm a real baker's rack fan, but I only have books on the two bottom shelves of one and my and a middle shelf of another. This one is more delicate and decorative than my other baker's racks.
