I would think it would hold, depending on towel size, 8 - 10 dirty towels and depending on how wadded up they are - rolled maybe a dozen and folded neatly about 10 - wadded up and just tossed in, at least 8 for an average size bath towel - more plush less - king sized less. And at my age and the mother of 4, I have done a LOT of laundry!

Answer:	It helps.....but does not prevent a large dog from flying forward in a car accident or sudden quick stops. If you are concerned about your dog flying forward then I recommend you purchase a car harness that attaches to the seat belt. Keep in mind that some dogs will chew thru the harness strap so not sure if this will work for you. Another thing to think about is that SUVs have spacing between the drivers and front passenger seats so you might want to reinforce that space with something. I use the wire divider that came with the dog crate. I place it between the seat cover and the back of the front seats. Hope this helps.

This type of harness will also keep your dog off of your lap and keep it from jumping out the window. I have used one for years on my 20 lb small dog and it works great.
