| Answer: | The difference between MCT oil and coconut oil you buy from Trader Joes is the price at $9.95 and MCT oil which is more concentrated can cost $15 to $30 a bottle depending on the brand. Coconut oil has MCTs in it, about 62 to 65 percent and concentrated MCT oil is almost entirely MCTs. Trader Joe's coconut oil is a very good quality and I use it in all my cooking and the MCT Oil I use by itself or in my bulletproof coffee. There are four different kinds of MCTs, which differ depending on the number of carbons there are connected to the fat molecules (this ranges between 6 to 12 carbons long). The MCTs in coconut oil are made up of about 50 percent of one kind (lauric acid), so the fact that coconut oil is mostly just one type of MCT is one reason that some people prefer concentrated MCT oils more. “MCT oils” usually have all four types of MCTs that can be difficult to get from other foods. Coconut oil is one of the best sources of lauric acid as you can see, which many studies have shown has antibacterial, antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Although about ninety percent of the fats found in coconut oil are saturated, a high percentage is not the very short chain MCTs that have less carbons (lauric acid has 12). | Answer: | Breaking bonds of the "bad triglyceride," while fractionated is a thing like aromatherapy-style Almond Oil (mostly vitamin E and tocopherol's been taken apart until usually alpha & gamma are the carbons of what you will ingest, NOT what was a former "part of a lipophilic part, or glyceride and was spliced" and the carbon-chains holding a form is natural so liquid is normal). Liquid comes from Lauric acid being the 1/2 outta the entire thing, and they must extract it... So, they use a mass spec and Rotovac; but only so easily because caprylic acid has C8, 8-C- bonds in the chain of just one lipid. Carbon is more compounding than all others combined. Fractionated oil usually doesn't have a smell, no taste for sure. It's all about lipid content, leave butter/olive oil/what do you eat that you were so worried? Lol. It's just a lipid. Also, aldehydes melts away fat... so, the MCT content can be a factor, yup. If you wanna switch just in case use a tiny capsule of Hyaluronic Acid, tastes like nada, absorbs 100/1000x it's weight in H2O, or use a dap of Vegetable glycerine. MCT's are around everywhere I get mine at Target first ingredient ~1,000mg of Lauric acid, and nothing harmful. I double Maj'd in Biochem and Pharmacokinetics. If you're really going to doing something weird, send me first. Or your PCP, if they knew things. |

The smelly formulation won't make you sick (if you hold your nose); at least it's not a function of the product going bad.However, the last couple of bottles of Selenium that I bought were "Now Foods" brand, and they don't hardly smell at all. Like, almost 100% odor free. If I were in your situation, I'd use up the smelly bottle and then switch to Now's Selenium.I was going to save a few cents by buying these Nature's Way, but if these are a return to the smelly formulation, I think I'll stick with the Now brand. Thanks for the warning.On the other hand, about Nature's Way, I was in a CVS and bought a bottle of Nature's Way Saw Palmetto (extract), which is another supplement that can be disgustingly smelly. I was prepared for the worst, but their Saw Palmetto doesn't smell hardly at all. So you never know. |

| Answer: | OMG mine smell SOOOOO BAD! I nearly gag when I take them out of the bottle. This is the second bottle I've purchased of this brand through Amazon. The first bottle was fine, zero smell. This one like I said makes me gag with stink. I emailed Nature's Way earlier this week and complained about it, asking if it was normal - they replied that it was fine in a slightly rude and impersonal brush-off email. Well it may be fine to them but I am never buying this brand again because I can't lurch my stomach every time I take my vitamins. |
