Answer:	I have not tried it, however, if it were a problem there would have been a warning in both manual and sticker on unit. Really there is not a need for the external power. The batteries will last for weeks at a time. I have 3 of these units and only replaced batteries 1 time on one unit. Even after removing batteries the old batteries checked 75%.

You get an eye exam and see what strength lenses you need. Take the glasses and the script to eye place and they put the correct lens strength for YOU in the frames. Make sure you order the frames to fit your face. Like: 49mm,52mm. The more set apart your eyes are the larger the number. Ask a eye place to help you. Walmart even. Good luck!
