Finish Line

Based on 4 reviews Check latest price

Product description

1-Step is recommended for cyclists who take a minimalist approach to drivetrain maintenance. It is formulated with rust and corosion inhibitors that provide ultimate protection in extreme conditions including coastal salt air. 1-Step does not compromise on its ability to reduce pedaling friction over long intervals, often exceeding 100 miles. Professional mechanics also use 1-Step to free gummed-up shifters and stiff cables.

  • Fast and easy--penetrates and flushes old lube and contaminants out and lubricates with each new application
  • Whenever chain is dry or dirty, just apply and you're ready to go ride

  • Engineered for commuters and recreational cyclists who seek a quick one-step “clean and lube’ formulation

User questions & answers

Question: Why is 8 oz cheaper than 4 oz
Answer: Because they are paying you to help them avoid storage costs. Sort of like negative oil prices. Or more like exactly negative oil prices.
Question: Will overspray harm tire rubber or carbon frames
Answer: It hasn't bothered my tires, I wipe excess off, if I could afford a carbon fiber bike I would know the answer to that question
Question: How do you use this? I’m new to bikes
Answer: Put your bike in a stand so you can spin backwards. Protect the floor(you are going to be dripping dirty oil). Back pedal (by hand), and slowly drip Finish Line onto the chain while it is running. Do this until the entire chain looks wet. Then keep running for a bit longer to work the oil in. Then, using a rag or paper towel, gently grab the chain while still pedaling backwards by hand. Watch that you do not get the rag caught up in the sprockets. Do not get your fingers caught up in the sprockets, or any other body part. It will hurt. Consider nitryl gloves, as chain dirt is really dirty. I usually repeat this 3 times every 100 miles. It will save your chain. Change out your chain when it reaches 1/8" (3mm) stretch to save your sprockets. Watch utube videos on chain cleaning and bike maintenance. Keep up on it and your bike will last 30 or 40 years or more.
Question: For a recreational cyclist, is this or the Finish Line dry lube better
Answer: This stuff is the thin liquid oil that flashes out some dirt and then stays on the chain to lubricate it. It will remain on the chain even after some water gets on it as oil repels water. Dry lube is different. To use dry lube first you must clean the chain. Then apply dry lube. Dry lube does not last as long and does not resist water But it also does not attract dirt lie oil does. If you clean the cain every 100 miles or every week and there is no rain, dry lube is good. This 1-step is for those wanting to get the job done and not mess with their chain so often. Most cyclists would have 2 or 4 different kinds of chain lube and use one when they are in a hurry (this one is good for that) and another for when they have 30 minutes or an hour to do a full de-grease and tooth-brush cleaning and lube.

User questions & answers

Question: is it any good for bicycle or only motorbike? does it matter? i read first few reviews, all for motorbikes, so not sure. Thanks
Answer: DO NOT USE ON BICYCLES. It will keep your chain a sprockets functional but leave gobs of black sticky gunk all over your drive train. Which makes your bike look like trash and is almost impossible to clean off. Get bike specific chain lubricant. I'm speaking from experience here.
Question: Would this be a good lube for my chain link operated security fence gate? Thanks
Answer: Yes, because it is a wax like lubricant that dries quickly and it is not affected by rain or cold. And you won't have to retreat it as much because it doesn't fling off every time the gate is opened. Put it in the door locks on your vehicles and they will not freeze up in the winter.
Question: Does the lable on the can say that it contains moly
Answer: I just received my 14oz. can, yellow & white, today. I don't see anywhere on the can where it says it contains Molybdenum or 'Moly' as in the Features & details. I called Finish Line and left a voicemail message. I also emailed an inquiry to them from their website today. I'm awaiting their response as to whether this product contains Molybdenum, and if not, what the reason is. I'll post again once I receive their response.
Question: will this be a good/proper lubricant for the chain of my garage door opener
Answer: It does a great job on my motorcycle chain and will do a great job on your garage door.

User questions & answers

Question: Could i use the bike wash on my disk brakes without ruining them? (is it oil based
Answer: I would avoid getting anything on the disk brake rotor -OR- pads. Even if this bike wash doesn't have oil in it, the dirt grease and grime cold be carried on to the brake components thus contaminating them. Most people recommend using isopropyl alcohol to remove contaminants, and clean with calipers removed or disassembled. Alcohol evaporates quickly and won't leave residue. Plus, always wear gloves when handling your rotors so you don't contaminate the braking surfaces with skin oils.
Question: Can I use the degreaser for the Shifters mechanism
Answer: I don't know why they asked me. I didn't buy the degreaser.
Question: Does anyone know if the All-Conditions Lube work to repel water
Answer: It seems to do that to a degree but it really makes a mess on my chain. I use a different brand wet lub for rainy conditions and that causes some build up on the chain and pulleys but the WD40 lub is much worse and difficult to clean off.
Question: Does this help for a rusted bike chain
Answer: A rusted bike chain should be replaced. It is beyond maintenance/serviceability and may accelerate wear on other parts of your drivetrain.

User questions & answers

Question: I just purchased this kit and was wondering if the mppl can be used for cables, on the inside for example as a lubricant

Question: Can this be used on bicycles
Answer: Sure, the cleaner and multi purpose lube are perfect for a bike. The chain wax may be a little heavy for a bicycle, but it will work.
Question: Do you have to rinse the chain after applying cleaner? I know some other brands like Motul have a no rinse process. Thx
Answer: Once you apply the cleaner you have to rinse off the chain. The dirty comes off reallt easy.
Question: is this combo kit flammable? i can not carry it, in my check in luggage for flight

User questions & answers

Question: Will this still work in freezing temperatures <20 (other lubes doesn't work, rear derailleur keeps freezing
Answer: Yes I ride rear round in the mountains of COLORADO and it works great!
Question: Is this considered a wet lube or a dry lube
Answer: This is an oil based, wet, lube. It is a fine, light oil and I have had good results with it. I have had several oil lubes over the years and I like Pro Gold the best. I'd say an application is good for 100+ dry weather miles. I tried the wax based lubes that are not supposed to build up road gunk. It was the opposite results for me, so I switched back to oil. Wax lubes might be better than oil in wet conditions.
Question: I have the 4 oz bottle. Am I supposed to cut off the top, as with Elmer's glue
Answer: the cap confused me too. visually it doesn't appear to do much when you twist it, but in fact it does expose a tiny pinhole at the top, and no you shouldn't cut it
Question: Is this better than GT
Answer: This is the best chain lube I have found. My current bike has over 75,000 miles, and I lube every 200 miles or so, so I have lubed a lot. I am convinced that I found the stuff I will use until I cannot ride anymore.

Rock N Roll Gold Lube

ROCK N ROLL IT!

Based on 848 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Rock 'n' Roll Gold Lube is the middle child of their three chain lubes. It's not as thick as the Extreme and not as thin as the Absolute Dry. It's good for both mountain biking as well as high-performance road riding. The folks at Rock 'n' Roll say this one gives the best chain performance in terms of making your shifting faster. Gold lube makes a geared bike feel like a fixed-gear; the movement is that smooth. Like the Extreme, the Gold has a gel membrane suspended in the fluid. The membrane seeps deep into the rollers and stays there, keeping the metal parts flexing, moving smoothly, shifting crisply, and doing everything quietly.Rock 'n' Roll lube cleans and lubes at the same time. Dribble it on by putting the bike in its biggest gear and backpedal. Drip from the top over the chainring or cog. Wipe off the excess. Shift to the small ring in front to wipe off the big ring. Wipe till the chain shines. You can ride right away, but letting the excess evaporate for a few hours or overnight is best. Rock 'n' Roll recommends not re-lubing until you hear squeaking. If you have more than one Rock 'n' Roll lube in your tool chest, you can put on the thicker formulations when it's wet and then apply the thinner when its dry and you don't have to degrease in between.Rock 'n' Roll Gold Lube comes in a 16oz. bottle and should last you for several seasons. Please Note: Per UPS regulations, ORM-D items such as this must ship via surface transport: UPS Ground or UPS Standard (Canada). We are unable to ship ORM-D items Internationally, or to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

User questions & answers

Question: Am I doing something wrong? After about 10 miles into a 62 mile ride the chain gets noisy again. I followed the instructions to the letter
Answer: Make sure your chain is clean to begin with. I spray some WD 40 on a rag and back pedal while holding the chain with the rag. I spin it about 10 revolutions making sure the all the gunk is removed from the chain. I then back pedal the chain through a dry part of the rag to make sure all the WD 40 is gone. Then I back pedal the chain again, slowly, while applying the lube. I will spin it around 2 or 3 times. Then I will spin the chain around a couple more times while lightly wiping off the excess lube with a dry part of the rag. This always works for me and my chain is as quiet as a mouse. Make sure you shake the bottle a couple of times before applying to be sure it is well mixed.
Question: Does the RnR Gold clean the chain? Or do I still need a degreaser
Answer: The whole point of this product is that it allows you to maintain the chain without degreasing it. The product is a highly volatile carrier with wax suspended in it. The carrier washes grease from inside the chain and "floats" it to the surface, where you wipe it off. If you want to degrease and clean your chain, you are not getting the value of this product.
Question: How do I transfer the line from the 16oz to 4oz bottle without it spilling everywhere? Is there a special technique
Answer: Hello! I plan to make a video about this! Put the EMPTY 4oz bottle (facing down) on top of the 16oz then with pressure against each other, flip. The fluid will transfer in a stream and should not spray or be messy. Preferably do it outside, I did it in my sink but I still spill just a little. Any more questions I'll be glad to answer
Question: does this item contain a separate empty 4 oz bottle with 2 removable nozzle caps
Answer: Yes. The times that I have ordered the 16 oz. bottle, it has always come with an empty 4 oz. companion bottle with the nozzles and caps.
