Answer:	From Wikipedia, you can find the following formula for magnification power: [MA] = (25cm)/(f) + 1 Solving for f, you would need a focal length of 8.6mm. Magnifying glasses only work if the object is closer than one focal length. This would make the magnifying glass completely impractical, and is quite obviously not true. This is additive to the diopter measurement of your eye (which changes with age) so if your eye currently is capable of 1.0 diopter, you add this to that to get a new strength of 2.0 diopters. So yes all of these lenses do indeed magnify.

Answer:	The length of the flexible part of the neck is about 12". With the non-flexible portions at the top and bottom it is about 15". Answer:	Even at the weakest magnification, you have to hold whatever item you’re looking at about 2 inches from the lens. Not for long-term use. I use it for things like getting out a splinter, tying a knot in beading, something very short term.

Answer:	You need to find something that provides a long depth of focus! The one I bought is such that, you must hold the thing you're looking at about four inches from your face, within a couple of inches one way or the other, which is awkward. Also look for something LIGHT in weight. I removed the left eye-piece to use separately, and now just use the right. Especially since this unit does not offer separation adjustment so the odds of you getting stereo vision with it are not good.
