I myself use it for cutting plastic films used to wrap many products. It can also be used to skin sheathing off wire--for the past few years, my grandfather has used a bander for castrating livestock---rendering this blade obsolete for the intended purpose. My advice--don't buy these Chinese ones, buy a good used American made knife for the same price--I paid $5 for the used 1970s USA made Imperial Stockman I have. The Chinese ones are very poor quality compared to Schrade products made in the USA or Ireland. I've got an Uncle Henry version I got as a gift of this I never even took out of the box. |

| Answer: | Though i have not tried wearing it upside down, I don't think it would be totally safe, at least not without something extra to secure it. The knife IS surprisingly secure in the sheath, and I have tried to "shake it out" of the sheath by holding it upside down and shaking/swinging it briskly, and it's never worked loose. However, if you're putting it on a vest/chest rig, I can easily imagine it disappearing if you're climbing fences, jumping from height, low crawling, etc without an extra strap or band securing the handle to your gear. This is such a nice knife, I would be sad (even at this price point) to lose one. Something as simple as a small strap with a snap, run through your molle and around the handle, would negate any fears I have about wearing it upside down. Hope this helps...this is a great knife, and is my daily carry knife. |
