I imagine if it had to connect to Internet then the battery on the base wouldn’t last as long as it does because of the power draw. I get at least a full 24 hour day from a full charge (I charge while my son bathes so I’ve never taken it to 0). Plus the base will alert you at 99.5F and 100.5F so you will want that nearby so you can hear it.

Answer:	No, not at all. It's a very simple setup actually - just the actual thermometer that communicates wirelessly with the 'base' unit which could be located inside the house. I also have found it to work very reliably!

The greatest distance I was able to get to before the unit pool temp. display dropped out was between 140 and 150 feet. Ambient Weather's description of the unit's performance is accurate. The temp probe was just moved from the rain barrel, where it was being evaluated, to our small pond, where it will remain.

Answer:	Yes, it certainly does. To change units on your thermometer, press the ON/OFF button twice in rapid succession while the thermometer is turned on. Important Tips for All Temperature Readings

• Always wait for three flashing lines on the display before every reading. Wait at least 15 minutes to take a reading after eating, drinking, exercising or bathing.
• If you or your Kinsa were outside on a cold day, wait until you are used to the new temperature before taking a reading.
• A person’s body temperature will fluctuate depending on the time of the day. The best method to determine your own normal temperature is to record it twice a day (early morning and late afternoon) when feeling well. The average of the two is considered your normal body temperature.

Underarm Readings

Wipe armpit with a dry towel and make sure that no clothes are in the way. Place the thermometer probe in the armpit and keep your arm pressed firmly against the body. In general, a normal underarm temperature is considered 35.8°C - 37.2°C (96.5°F - 98.9°F). Also, please note that underarm readings are typically 0.6°C (1°F) lower than oral readings; this is perfectly normal. The Kinsa app automatically takes underarm readings into account when calculating the severity of the fever, but it does not artificially add that 0.6°C (1°F) to the temperature reading.

Oral Readings

For oral readings, always place the probe tip of the thermometer in your mouth’s heat pocket - under the tongue at the back of the mouth. Keep your mouth closed while the temperature reading is being taken. The temperature in one spot of the mouth can be very different from another so always put the probe tip in the same heat pocket for every reading. A normal oral temperature is considered 36.1°C - 37.7°C (97.0°F - 99.9°F).

Rectal Readings

Consider applying a bit of petroleum jelly on the QuickCare tip to make it easier to insert. Place your baby on a firm surface, either on her stomach or back, with legs lifted up to the chest (think diaper-changing position). Insert the probe tip about ½ inch inside the rectum. Never insert the probe past the metal tip. Stop if you meet any resistance. Hold QuickCare between two fingers while keeping your hand cupped around your baby's bottom (you might need to squeeze the cheeks together to hold it in place). Remember, rectal temperatures tend to be about 0.3°C (0.5°F) higher than oral and 0.6°C (1°F) higher than underarm readings. In general, a normal rectal temperature is considered 36.4°C - 37.9°C (97.5°F - 100.3°F). If you'd like to verify your results, be sure to wait 5 minutes first for the most accurate second reading.

Answer:	Absolutely. It comes with a bracket and a sticky square for mounting. Also comes with a nylon loop that can be attached for hanging. I just have mine sitting on one of the fridge shelves and it works fine.

Answer:	There is a battery level indicator on the home screen, when the battery gets very low it turns red. I don’t remember for sure but I think I got a low battery alert in my iphone. You don’t need to worry much about the batteries, ( these units are amazing). We have a smart home with a dozen or so govee sensors in all the duct work, attic, and every room. All have been in service over a year now. The unit inside our dehumidifier often sees 50f, and the units in the attic, and inside the furnace often see over 100f. We did have one mini mounted inside the dehumidifier intake that drained it’s battery every two days. Govee replaced that unit, ( they have great support). All the other units display battery levels over 3/4ths still, ( after a year of constant use), ps the things are dead accurate, ( both temp and humidity), more so than the other half dozen brands I tried. I do get temp and humidity alerts when any room sensor goes under 73f, over 80f, or over 60% humidity. But unfortunately the alerts aren’t automated yet thru our Alexa, ( on my wish list, lol). Currently we can only automate temp control only with our echo, (has a built in thermostat), but nothin with regard to humidity, ( humidity control is not incorporated via Alexa yet). Answer:	This thermometer gives no advance warning that it thinks its battery voltage is getting too low, and worse comes. I took my temperature with it this morning and handed it to my wife, who was surprised to see its display repeatedly telling her to "contact thermo.withings.com". Both batteries measured 1.28 volts (using an accurate Fluke DVM), low but sufficient to keep the display cycling for over 15 minutes. (The manual says you'll need new batteries every 8 months, which is about how long ours lasted.) We have sadly learned that this is not a smart thermometer, but a stupid one. After I put in new batteries, it did not simply return to working as it had been. Now it won't take a temperature. The only thing Withings gives me to work with is another "setup" through its iPhone app, yet that app refuses to pair using Bluetooth to go through "setup" again. And neither the thermometer nor the app has a reset/restore button or function. Our $100 thermometer has become a brick IN ONLY 8 MONTHS and one set of batteries.
