Answer:	Don't know, but it's not Salicilic Acid like so many are these days. Nor does it have Benzoyle Peroxide. All I know is that I have been using it for over 25 years and now have my teens girls using it too.

Answer:	It's a long list and not really broken out as to active vs inactive. Here's the first 4 listed: Tiethanolamine, TEA Stearate, Sodium Tallowate, Glycerin. There are 16 other ingredients in descending order. Note, this applies to the "acne-prone" formula.It claims to be Hypo-allergenic, rinses easily and won't clog pores. I discovered it could be several factors: different insertion in the ear, earwax and the last time it happened to me my daughter had an ear infection in the ear with the higher reading. After her ear infection was cured the reading was just +- .2 different between the 2 ears.

Answer:	You can cut the whole bottom out and the outside will still stay inflated if you cut holes in the bottom it just won’t hold air we have one the kids use like a inner tube because the bottom ripped so I cut it out.

The best we could figure is it got caught by a briar on the way. If one small briar put a hole in it, I don't know if it would hold up to any rocks or branches that may be in a river.

Why Measure in the Ear?

Ear temperatures accurately reflect core body temperature, since the ear drum shares a blood supply with the temperature control center in the brain: the hypothalamus.

Smart Ear thermometer monitors the infrared heat radiated from the eardrum and surrounding tissue and detects once an accurate temperature measurement has been taken.

Taking a Temperature

Ensure the ear is clear of earwax and debris and the tip of the thermometer is clean.

Choose one ear to use for readings and stick to it. There is a small temperature difference between both sides of the head and so choosing one ear will produce more precise readings.

Smart Ear uses an infrared ray to measure the temperature inside the ear. To ensure the most accurate reading, please use the proper technique:

For infants under the age of 1, gently tug the ear straight back to straighten the ear canal before taking a reading.

For children over the age of 1 and adults, gently tug the ear straight up and back before taking a reading.

Cleaning & Storage

The probe tip is the most delicate part of the thermometer. It must be clean and intact to ensure accurate readings. If there is any debris left on the sensor window at all, it will throw off readings.

To clean the probe tip, use a cotton swab with alcohol and gently clean the small round window at the tip of the sensor.

Smart Ear is designed to be used without probe covers so you never have to worry about refills. Clean the probe before and after every use.

Use storage cap (included) to protect your thermometer from dust when not in use.
