Answer:	According to the instruction booklet, turn the unit off. Then press and hold the power button about 3 seconds. The display should show the sequence F / SET / C / SET. Answer:	I am not aware of a feature that let's you mute the sound; however, it is a very low tone that I sometimes have trouble hearing it so I doubt the sound would be very bothersome to you. In addition to being a soft tone, it is very quick tone so again I can't imagine that it would be very bothersome.

Switch Between Fahrenheit or Celsius

You can alter how the temperature is given by switching between temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius. To do this, go to n ‘Power off’ mode, press and hold the ‘Scan’ button. Then press the ‘On/Mem’ button for 3 seconds whilst still holding the scan button. The ‘°C’ will change to ‘°F’. You can use the same process to change from ’°F’ back to ‘°C’.

Using your Closer to Nature Digital Thermometer

An incorrect reading (around 35°F lower) can be measured if the ear canal is not straightened correctly. The ear canal is not identical in each ear; this can result in a slight difference in some individuals.

The instructions for use advise that three readings should be taken, with the highest being the one which is registered. The unit measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum.

It is therefore important to straighten the ear canal prior to taking a reading. For children under 2 years old, gently pull the ear back. User technique is critical.

Troubleshooting Tips

- The ear canal needs to be clean.

- The thermometer lens needs to be clean and undamaged.

- A fresh hygiene cover must be used each time.

- The unit must be equilibrated to the temperature of the room where readings are taken.

- Accidentally pressing the on/mem button instead of the scan button will show a previous reading from the memory rather than take a new reading.

- A higher temperature will be recorded in an ear that a child has been laying on compared to their other ear.

Answer:	Ships from USA, does not mean manufactured in the USA. I notice there's a little trickery in the wording on many Chinese products. Many products now do not openly state if the product is made in China. Why is this? Because they don't want you to know it comes from China, because it would prevent a sale!

Answer:	I found this on the iHealth site (it was listed for this thermometer):: *Some iHealth Thermometers may arrive without the iHealth logo. This is still an iHealth PT3 thermometer but we have removed the step for printing the logo to improve production speed due to the high demand during this crisis. All other components are the same. Hope this helps you and others who might purchase this thermometer with the logo missing.

Answer:	YOU SHOULD NOT USE EAR PROBE REPLACEMENT COVERS AS THIS DISTORT THE READINGS. This thermometer is designed for family use.
Question:	Do I have to touch my skin when measuring my forehead? Is it no touch
Answer:	When measuring your forehead you do have to touch it by sliding the probe from the middle of the forehead to the side of the forehead towards the temple. It only takes one second. However, when you have selected Object mode with the settings button, then the screen will display a 'house' icon instead of the ear or forehead icon - when in Object mode, the thermometer is non-touch. That means that you then hold the thermometer approximately 0.4 to 2inches (1 to 5cm) away from food or liquid when measuring such objects. You can also measure room temperature when in this mode if you are not pointing the thermometer at anything specific.
Question:	can it be used on dogs
Answer:	Dear Customer, Yes you can also use it on dogs. We would advise you to use the ear probe to measure in the dog's ear rather than using the forehead mode. This is because the dog's fur can distort the forehead readings. A dog's normal ear temperature is between 100° to 103°F. (37.6-38.6°C). The older the dog is, the larger the dog, the lower its normal temperature will be. In puppies, representatives of miniature dogs, the normal readings are likely to be in the range of 101.8 to 102.4°F (38.8-39.1°C) which is slightly higher than for large dogs. Note that the same applies for dog as for humans: the ear probe must be aimed at the eardrum and not towards the sides of the ear canal to get accurate readings.
Question:	how to change from fahrenheit to celsius
Answer:	Open the battery compartment, remove batteries. There is a toggle switch inside that compartment that you just need to switch to °C or back to °F.

Question:	I purchased this one but it gives me a different reading from each year one of them 97 the other is 99.9 why? And which one should I take
Answer:	Happens to me too. I discovered it could be several factors: different insertion in the ear, earwax and the last time it happened to me my daughter had an ear infection in the ear with the higher reading. After her ear infection was cured the reading was just +- .2 different between the 2 ears.
