When i stand on the scale, the weight doesnt register. it just stays at 0.0 lb. can anyone help me or tell me if i'm doing something wrong

I haven't used it on a thick carpet, but feel it would do just fine. I think you would be better off buying a pad with the plastic spikes on the bottom. I have used that type in the past, and they grip the carpet very well. One warning! Any one you use, you should put holes through the pad at various locations. The reason being the pads hold moisture between the pad and carpet. The carpet stays wet, and mold is very possible. Hope this helps.

Step-1: select your user code

Turn on the scale, press SET button to enter the interface of user identification code. There are 12 codes for you to choose, press ↑↓ to select your own code.

One user corresponds to one code.

Step-2: set your height

Press SET button again to enter the interface of height value setting. Press ↑↓ to adjust your height.

The height is only needed to set for the first time. The scale will save the height value you recorded, then automatically match the user code and the corresponding height.

Step-3: stand on the scale

Place the scale on a hard, flat floor and avoid carpet or soft surface.

Keep the scale turn then stand on the scale gently, and wait for the weight value and BMI value shown on the scale.

Step-4: check your datas

After the weight value is stable, the LCD will show the BMI value.
