Answer:	I purchased this scale years ago, so it seems to be good quality. The battery lasts a long time, but I only use it 3-4 times a week. The profile is quite low, so it would be easy for an elder to mount. The "real estate" is fairly small so I have to stand on it a bit pigeon-toed to see the reading. However, the reading stays on for about 3 seconds (?) so one can step off and look quickly if need be. (A heavier person would need this feature if weighing him/herself.) I made myself a padded cover for it to use while I was travelling with it, but a laptop case might work to pack it around. Hope this helps.
