Active Ankle
At Active Ankle, our experts understand that the needs of every athlete are different. Some players need a brace that offers the most protection, some need a brace that offers the most mobility, and others are somewhere in between. This is why Active Ankle has developed a full range of ankle braces and ankle sleeve options. In order to find the right brace for each athlete, Active Ankle asks just two questions that every athlete can answer:
Rigid Braces for Maximum Protection
Rigid braces offer the maximum amount of ankle protection to any athlete. These braces are ideal for athletes with weak ankles that have experienced injuries in the past. Rigid braces are also great for players who frequently jump and risk ankle trauma, such as front row volleyball players and basketball centers and forwards.
Lace-Up Braces for Moderate Support
Lace-up braces offer more comfort than rigid braces while providing the support and feel of a traditional tape job. Lace-up braces are ideal for athletes accustomed to a traditional tape job provided by athletic trainers. Unlike athletic tape that loosens with athletic movements and moisture, the laces and straps on these braces hold tight and can be easily adjusted if needed.
Ankle Sleeves for Maximum Comfort
Ankle sleeves are perfect for athletes with strong ankles looking for additional support in a low-profile design. When worn over a standard sock, ankle sleeves are barely noticeable during play and can even be worn without shoes. These unique ankle supports provide compression, prevent swelling, and increase blood circulation.
T2: Ankle Braces for Volleyball Players
While all of our braces are designed for a variety of sports and activities, the classic design of the T2 is what makes it our most popular brace for volleyball players. This rigid brace protects front and back row players during lateral movements, jumping and landing, and dangerous under-the-net contact. With a new and improved material that makes it 10 times more durable when compared to previous T2 braces, you can play with confidence that your brace can withstand the impacts and demands of competitive play.
Protect & Prevent
According to the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, 15% of all sports-related injuries are ankle-related, making it the most common injury. Active Ankle braces are designed to minimize the risk of injuries that occur during competitive play, including contact with other athletes and other uncontrollable elements of every sport.
Support
No matter the ankle state and position on the court or field, Active Ankle has a brace designed to provide additional support to ankle muscles and joints. When players wear ankle protection, they’re less prone to injuries and can feel more confident in their movements. This allows them to focus on performance and play to their full potential.
Recover
Physical therapists and athletic trainers encourage the use of Active Ankle braces to help athletes with ankle injuries return to the court or field faster. The additional protection of ankle braces reduces the risk of reinjury and facilitates recovery. Athletes can return to play while resting assured that their ankles can withstand the demands of their sport.

User questions & answers
Question: | size |
Answer: | I'm 5'10", 183lbs with average build and most importantly wear a 9.5W shoe size. Having tried this brace on at a sports store I figured out I needed a Large size and they work great. I believe if your foot size is 9' to 11 or 12' then Large is your size. Under 9' medium may be your size but not 100% definitive. Best thing is to go to a Sporting store near you that carries this brace and try it on - you'll also see that Amazon sells it for a good deal ($) less. |
Question: | I ordered two and discovered they both were for left side, how do I get one for the right |
Answer: | Turn the brace around and move the small strap to the backside. There aren't different braces for left vs right ankle. |
Question: | what is the difference between T1 and T2 brace |
Answer: | Straight from ACTIVE's website: The T1 was our first brace design with two straps for a more customizable fit. When we came out with our next brace, naturally we called it T2 because it was our second brace, but on this model we had consumer feedback looking for a brace that would be quicker to put on, thus the one strap. |
Question: | can this be worn with an orthotic insert that I use for plantar fascitis |
Answer: | The brace has a padded plate on the bottom that would sit on top of your insert. It would work, but may take some getting use to. |

Question: | I wear a size 13 shoe. What size would be best |
Answer: | I wear a 13-14 shoe depending on manufacturer-I use the XLg Cramer Ankle support |
Question: | What size should I get for a women's shoe size |
Answer: | WHERE are people getting the erroneous idea that you order by shoe size? There is a chart at the top of the webpage which uses ANKLE circumference for picking the proper size. |
Question: | Are there stitches on the bottom? How thick is the material |
Answer: | Yes there are stitches on the bottom of the brace. The thickness is just a normal standard thickness that most all neoprene braces are made of. The exact measurement was not available. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this brace have a rigid ankle support or is the support only from velcro straps |
Answer: | There are no rigid parts in this ankle brace. The support comes from the stirrups, laces, and velcro straps. |
Question: | Is this per pair, or does the price indicate a single brace |
Answer: | it is ONE single brace. This tie up brace was recommended by my Doctor and worked very well. excellent! |
Question: | I wear a size 10 womens shoe, will a small be a good fit |
Answer: | It more depends on what you're using the brace for -like everyday wear or sports wear- because i used the brace for when I played volleyball, so that my ankles were supported. These braces are on the bulkier side so you have to be sure your shoe has room in them for the brace. But back to the size fitting. If your shoe size is a 10 then a small most likely will not be big enough (I'd move up to a medium). I also wear a size 10 so I hope you found this helpful! |
Question: | does this ankle brace have a closed heel or open heel |
Answer: | Open heel |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this brace prevent supination in your foot |
Answer: | James - the brace should definitely help to prevent supination although it's not directly included in the products description by the manufacturer. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to reach out! |
Question: | The Photos are WRONG - They are photos of the T2 not the T1. Amazon should fix this |
Answer: | I agree the T1 Should have the double strap which, I think, allows for getting a tighter and more firm support than the T2 |
Question: | Will this brace help me with my vertical jump |
Answer: | Well, I suppose it might if, as a result of the increased stability, you then went out and worked on your vertical; or if you put the brace in shoes that have springs in the soles. |
Question: | Anyone have any idea on the appropriate size? Male, 6'1", shoe size 10-10.5. Also, can this be worn comfortably without shoes for beach vball |
Answer: | I got a large. My shoe size is 12. Fits perfectly. You'll probably want a medium. For beach, I haven't tried. It might work, but I doubt it will be comfortable. It has moving parts, and if sand gets inside there, it probably won't be good. I do know somebody who has used a non-active ankle brace on sand (one of those cloth ones with lots of laces), and he says it was manageable, but the sand got everywhere. |

User questions & answers
Question: | It came in pair |
Answer: | Only one per package. I had to order two. |
Question: | Can you wear it while playing soccer |
Answer: | Yes! I play soccer and used to have one just like this. Misplaced it and had to search the internet for another after spraining my ankle in indoor this spring. |
Question: | This looks like black athletic tape. How is this any different if I were to just wrap athletic tape around my ankle |
Answer: | Since you can reuse it over and over, you'll save money in the long run from not having to keep buying tape and save time from not having to wrap it every time you need it. That said, if you don't have weak ankles (and, thus, suffer from recurring spraigns) and just need a one-time fix, use tape. |
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | It’s made in Vietnam. |

Question: | What's the product warranty as I hear it breaks at the same spot for everyone |
Answer: | Hey Thanh! The plastic on these braces has a lifetime warranty. If they break, simply contact customer service using the number on the Active Ankle website, and your broken brace will be replaced. |
Question: | How is this different from the Active Ankle T |
Answer: | Thanks for your question! We made some changes to the hinge on the Active Ankle Volt to allow for greater stability and a smoother range of motion, and you may find that you prefer the fit of the Volt Brace over the T2. Additionally, the Volt Brace has a removable plate on the outside to customize it to match your team's colors. |
Question: | Are the active ankles sold in pairs or individually |
Answer: | Mine came individually. I would assume this is still the case unless explicitly stated. I love it and so did my orthopedic doc by the way. |
