3 best ankle stabilizers

Ankle stabilizers are medical devices designed to provide support and stability to the ankle joint. They are commonly used to prevent or manage injuries, such as ankle sprains, strains, and other conditions that affect the ankle. Ankle stabilizers are typically made of various materials, including neoprene, elastic fabric, or rigid plastic, and they come in various designs to cater to different levels of support and comfort.

Here are some key points about ankle stabilizers:

  1. Types of Ankle Stabilizers: There are several types of ankle stabilizers available, including ankle braces, leg-foot supports, braces, splints, and supports. Each type is designed to address specific ankle conditions and provide varying levels of support.

  2. Support and Stability: Ankle stabilizers are used to provide additional support and stability to the ankle joint. They help restrict excessive movement and prevent the ankle from rolling or twisting in ways that could lead to injury.

  3. Injury Prevention: Ankle stabilizers are commonly used by athletes and individuals with a history of ankle injuries to reduce the risk of recurrent injuries. They can be worn during physical activities to minimize the chances of sprains or strains.

  4. Rehabilitation: Ankle stabilizers are also used during the rehabilitation process after an ankle injury. They help protect the injured area, limit motion, and facilitate the healing process.

  5. Customization: Some ankle stabilizers are adjustable or custom-made to fit the wearer's specific needs and anatomy. This ensures a snug and comfortable fit, as well as optimal support.

  6. Comfort and Breathability: Many modern ankle stabilizers are designed with comfort in mind. They are often made from breathable materials to prevent excessive sweating and discomfort during prolonged use.

  7. Ankle Conditions: Ankle stabilizers are used for various ankle conditions, including sprained ankles, Achilles tendonitis, chronic instability, and post-surgery support.

  8. Over-the-Counter and Prescription: While some ankle stabilizers are available over the counter, others may require a prescription from a medical professional. The type of stabilizer needed often depends on the severity of the condition and the level of support required.

  9. Proper Use: It's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and any guidance provided by a healthcare professional when using ankle stabilizers. Wearing them improperly can lead to reduced effectiveness or even discomfort.

  10. Regular Maintenance: Ankle stabilizers may need regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure they remain effective and hygienic. Check the care instructions provided with the device.

In conclusion, ankle stabilizers play a vital role in preventing, managing, and rehabilitating ankle injuries. They come in various types and designs to cater to the specific needs of individuals with ankle conditions or those seeking to reduce the risk of injury during physical activities. It's important to use them as directed and, if necessary, consult a healthcare professional for guidance on choosing the right stabilizer for your condition.

User questions & answers

Question: Would size 11 mens USA be a large
Answer: I have a size 11 men USA. I ordered the large, and I think it is just a little bit too big. However, it still gets the job done with stabilizing my ankle, but I would have liked to have tried the medium to see if it was more of a snug fit.
Question: I am looking for a volleyball ankle support, will do this a good job. I used buy stuff from CVS but looking for a better quality product
Answer: My teenage daughter plays both school and club volleyball and uses this brace...it's been great! Remember no brace will work if not the right fit though...she wears size 12 shoes but size small brace because the size depends on your ankle size not your foot length...I see lots of size questions and this is important bc if the brace is too big it offers very little support.
Question: How do I tell what sixe ASO I need
Answer: http://www.medspec.com/SizeChartASO.cfm is a link to the sizing chart that ASO features on their website. I wear a woman's size 10 (regular), so I went with a medium. It seems to work well for me. I wear it with all of my workouts just as a precaution. This stabilizer has been the best workout buddy for me since I rolled my ankle twice on the elliptical. It was recommended by a friend with a similar problem, I purchased it right away, and I couldn't be happier!
Question: My daughter's foot measures a 12". She wears an 8.5 shoe. this is right in between med and sm. Which size would be best
Answer: I wear a ladies size 8 and have wide feet. I measured 12 1/4" ankle circumference. I got a size small and am glad i did. Fits good with room to spare even for very thick socks. I usually size up when I am in between sizes or not sure, but with this item size down.

User questions & answers

Question: does it help prevent ankle rollovers
Answer: We do not recommend that you wear a brace or support while swimming, because wearing one in the water can shorten the life of the product’s materials. Also, the materials can become water logged and the support may not then fit the joint properly. Thanks for asking! If you have any additional questions please feel free to connect with our product support team at 1-800-537-2191 Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm CT.
Question: What's the difference between the ace deluxe sport ankle stabilizer and the deluxe
Answer: No but it will support your ankle. You need a brace to hold it at a 90* angle i use one of them also. Hope this helps.
Question: I wear a size 5 women - will it fit? Thank you
Answer: I would say it depends on how tight your shoes are i've always use it with my sneakers but this is the easiest one to use and works the best you could also find them at CVS or drugstores
Question: will it fit a size 12 mens size
Answer: My iPad is from 2018. I bought it in October to be exact. I have no idea if the size but it’s the regular size they’ve always had, I believe. And I love it because I teach Spanish and have traveled to many Spanish-speaking countries and it suits my personality much better than a stuffy and boring plain colored cover. I wish it were leather but beggars can’t be choosers.

ACE Brand Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer FAQs

Our braces and supports are designed to be worn during the day only. They should not be worn overnight, therefore should be removed prior to going to bed.

The exceptions to this are the ACE Brand Night Wrist Sleep Support and the ACE Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support. Both are designed specifically for night use, to help provide a restful night's sleep for people experiencing wrist or foot pain. But as always, please consult with your physician for recommendations.

The ACE Brand Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support is not recommended for individuals with diabetes, neuropathy or vascular disease, and is not intended for load bearing.

How long at a time should I wear my support?

The length of time is really personal preference. A general recommendation would be that you wear a brace or support during activity and for an hour or two afterwards. If you feel better wearing it longer, that is fine as well.

How tight should a brace be to be effective?

You want the brace to fit snugly in order to get the benefits of warmth and compression, but you do not want it so tight that it starts to restrict blood flow. If it is uncomfortable, it is probably too tight.
