Answer:	It does wear down, but it takes a long long time. We had one for years before we needed to replace it thru Amazon. A few fibers might come off, but it's nothing like those mats that youre talking about. It works well, so we always pack it up in our trailer when we go camping & use it then too.

But, we have camped in our travel trailer, in the mountains on occasion, and, since we take one of these with us, it has worked well with the pine needles & leaves. Seems to be a good little item !

Answer:	Yes - I did and it certainly DIDN'T take all day. It is small but that makes it easy to handle. I was able to do a very good job of cleaning in preparation for application of a protectant. No bristles fell out and it did not damage the material. If you are unfortunate enough to have a vinyl top you can use almost any ole brush.
Question:	I see the brush is smaller than the original kiwi brush, but does it work the same
Answer:	What! And settle for smaller profits? I'm fortunate as I'm told I never throw anything away. This means I have the original man sized brushes. They measure 6-3/4" x2-3/16" with a full1-1/8" horse hair length. They look great and work great. I can't imagine using anything less.

Answer:	Well, if you don't mount it, it's difficult to scrape your shoes in it. I mounted mine on a piece of 2"x4" (lengthwise, about 16" long) and buried it right by the concrete on the driveway close the house. I painted the entire thing with clear lacquer (spray paint) so the weather wouldn't deteriorate it. It works great!

Answer:	I mounted mine centered on a 2x6 board about 2 feet long.This allows you to stand on the board with one foot while you clean the other boot.Then simply tip it over to clean.Any permanent structure it is mounted to would definetly prevent cleaning.

The metal plate you see on one side is to stand on and hold it in place while you scrape one boot if you do not anchor it down. We will be anchoring ours because it is a pain to turn it around to hold and scrape the other boot. It has four brushes. Two on the sides and two on the bottom.

Answer:	Northern Tool dot com says no replacement brushes to this model. However, I would think as they are screwed on, that if you could find similar sized brushes, you could replace them....if ever it was necessary. This is made in China. The other one they sell on their site made in the US offers replacement brushes. I have both for comparison. I don't know if my husband or sons use either one by looking at the mud they track in through the garage and into the house.
