Answer:	The bromelain is a derivative of pineapple, it is an enzyme...you will also see papain which is derived from papaya...these are the active ingeredients in meat tenderizer that break down the connective tissue in proteins. If you are buying this because your dog eats their poop, one or both of those ingredients will stop many dogs from eating their feces....just sprinkle it on every meal and it should help to reduce or eliminate that behavior, or keep it from starting. No one product will work for all dogs but these 2 enzymes have been shown to work in many dogs, and many supplements sold for the purpose of stoping Coprophagia at least those that work contain at least one of these enzymes as the active ingredient. There were studies done to suggest maybe these enzymes helped dogs digest more of the protein in their food, but those are older studies, it seems the likely cause is they just do not like the taste. Many people manage with a higher quality food or good training. But to answer the question I am trying this because my 6 month old puppy now wants to eat his poop on occasion, only if it is fresh, and only if someone is not right there to stop him.
