13 best nasal cleanses
Nasal cleanses, also known as nasal irrigation or nasal douching, are practices used to clean and moisturize the nasal passages. These methods are often employed to relieve nasal congestion, reduce allergy symptoms, and promote overall nasal health. Here are some key points related to nasal cleanses:
Purpose:
- Nasal cleanses are primarily done to flush out mucus, allergens, and irritants from the nasal passages. This can help alleviate congestion and improve breathing.
Methods:
- Neti Pot: A popular method involves using a neti pot, a container designed for pouring a saline solution through one nostril and allowing it to flow out of the other, clearing nasal passages.
- Nasal Spray: Saline nasal sprays deliver a saline solution into the nostrils, providing a gentler way to irrigate the nasal passages.
- Nasal Irrigation Bottles: These are devices designed for nasal irrigation, often with a squeeze bottle mechanism to deliver a saline solution.
Saline Solutions:
- Saline solutions used in nasal cleanses are typically made of distilled water and salt. Some commercial saline solutions are available, or individuals can make their own at home.
Benefits:
- Congestion Relief: Nasal cleanses can help relieve nasal congestion associated with allergies, colds, or sinus infections.
- Allergy Management: Regular nasal irrigation can reduce the presence of allergens in the nasal passages, potentially decreasing allergy symptoms.
- Sinus Health: Nasal cleanses may contribute to sinus health by preventing the buildup of mucus and reducing the risk of sinus infections.
Precautions:
- It's essential to use sterile or properly distilled water to avoid introducing contaminants into the nasal passages.
- Proper technique is crucial to prevent injury or discomfort. Tilt the head and use the appropriate angle to allow the solution to flow smoothly.
Frequency:
- The frequency of nasal cleanses can vary depending on individual needs and health conditions. Some people incorporate nasal irrigation into their daily routine, while others use it as needed.
Medical Conditions:
- Nasal cleanses are generally safe for many people. However, individuals with certain medical conditions, such as a compromised immune system or ear problems, should consult with a healthcare professional before starting nasal irrigation.
Device Care:
- Neti pots and nasal irrigation bottles should be cleaned thoroughly after each use to prevent the growth of bacteria.
Comfort Tips:
- Using a lukewarm saline solution can be more comfortable than a cold one.
- Adding a small amount of baking soda to the saline solution may reduce irritation.
Commercial Products:
- Various over-the-counter nasal irrigation kits and saline nasal sprays are available for those who prefer pre-made solutions.
Nasal cleanses can be a helpful adjunct to traditional treatments for nasal congestion and allergy symptoms. However, individuals should use these methods with care and, if necessary, seek advice from healthcare professionals, especially if they have pre-existing health conditions.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use Zero-water |
Answer: | No, the infant bath will drain into the blue part, but once you are ready to move up to the bigger tub the blue part can be used as a stool, or a seat, which is how I used it. I am the grandma and this was the greatest thing for me. We used it from birth to 14 months old. I still use the blue seat. |
Question: | Do i need to wash the bottle with dishwashing soap before using the bottle for the first time |
Answer: | as pictured it is used for infants in elevated mode. the sit assist plug can be used in bottom while elevated with blue step lift |
Question: | May I ask if it is normal that every time after rinse my nose, it turned very congested. Thanks |
Answer: | Yes, there is a texture to help prevent slipping on the inside of the white tub on the Right Height Tub |
Question: | what does the Sinus Rinse Complete Kit include |
Answer: | I don't own the comfort height bathtub, and I have never actually seen one in person, so this response is heavily based on supposition of appearance. The only advantages I can see are primarily if using the tub with a very small infant. The comfort height bathtub uses an insert for this. I felt this presented a possibility for the child to possibly slip or squirm and perhaps end up between the insert and the tub, and the insert doesn't look very comfortable to me. You are also relying on the insert to attach firmly and stay in place. I don't know how the insert attaches or if this is even a real concern, but it is no concern at all in the "right height" bathtub because the small infant piece is it's own tub, not just an insert. It also appeared to be a more comfortable arrangement to me. Also, the "right height" tub appears to me to be a little taller, and when using the tub in the small infant mode (using the large tub as a base) it seems to have a wider base that offers more stability. These were my reasons for choosing the "right height" tub instead of the "comfort height", even though it is more expensive. |

- Single piece, custom-designed rounded black cap fits any nasal opening. No push & pull components make for easy cleaning.
- Preservative, Drug, Iodine, BPA, Gluten & Latex Free

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
USE ONLY AS DIRECTED, IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST SEE YOUR DOCTOR/HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL. ALWAYS READ THE LABEL.
Step 1 Please wash your hands. Fill the clean bottle with the designated volume of either distilled, micro-filtered (through 0.2 micron filter), commercially bottled or previously boiled and cooled down water. Always rinse your nasal passages with NeilMed Sinus Rinse packets only. Our packets contain a mixture of USP grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. These ingredients are of the purest quality available to make the dry powder mixture. Rinsing your nasal passages with only plain water without our mixture will result in a severe burning sensation as the plain water is not physiologic for your nasal lining, even if it is appropriate for drinking. Additionally, for your safety, do not use tap or faucet water for dissolving the mixture unless it has been previously boiled for five minutes or more as boiling sterilizes the water. Other choices are distilled, micro-filtered (through 0.2 micron), commercially bottled or, as mentioned earlier, previously boiled water at lukewarm or body temperature. You can store boiled water in a clean container for seven days or more if refrigerated. Do not use non-chlorinated or non-ultra (0.2 micron) filtered well water unless it is boiled and then cooled to lukewarm or body temperature. *You may warm the water in a microwave in increments of 5 to 10 seconds to avoid overheating the water, damaging the device or scalding your nasal passage.
Step 2 Cut the Sinus Rinse mixture packet at the corner and pour its contents into the bottle. Tighten the cap and tube on the bottle securely. Place one finger over the tip of the cap and shake the bottle gently to dissolve the mixture.
Step 3 Standing in front of a sink, bend forward to your comfort level and tilt your head down. Keeping your mouth open, without holding your breath, place the cap snugly against your nasal passage. SQUEEZE BOTTLE GENTLY until the solution starts draining from the OPPOSITE nasal passage. Some may drain from your mouth. For a proper rinse, keep squeezing the bottle GENTLY until at least 1/4 to 1/2 (60 mL to 120 mL or 2 to 4 fl oz) of the bottle is used. Do not swallow the solution.
Step 4 Blow your nose very gently, without pinching nose completely to avoid pressure on eardrums. If tolerable, sniff in gently any residual solution remaining in the nasal passage once or twice, because this may clean out the posterior nasopharyngeal area, which is the area at the back of your nasal passage. At times, some solution will reach the back of your throat, so please spit it out. To help drain any residual solution, blow your nose gently while tilting your head forward and to the opposite side of the nasal passage you just rinsed.
Step 5 Now repeat steps 3 and 4 for your other nasal passage. Most users find that rinsing twice a day is beneficial, similar to brushing your teeth. Many doctors recommend rinsing 3-4 times daily or for special circumstances, even rinsing up to 6 times a day is safe. Please follow your physician’s advice.
Step 6 Clean the bottle and cap. Air dry the Sinus Rinse bottle, cap, and tube on a clean paper towel, a lint free towel, or use NeilMed NasaDOCK or NasaDOCK plus (sold separately) to store the bottle, cap and tube.
It is very important to keep these devices clean and free from any contamination.Replace the bottle every 3 months.
- Dishwasher Cleaning: Do not use a dishwasher to clean the inside of a bottle. While our bottle is dishwasher safe, a dishwasher will not adequately clean the SINUS RINSE bottle. The water jets in dishwashers cannot enter the narrow neck of the bottle, and portions of the bottle's interior will not be cleaned thoroughly. Additional methods of cleaning the bottle include the use of concentrated white vinegar or isopropyl alcohol (70% concentration), followed by scrubbing and rinsing as described above.
- Microwave Disinfection: Clean the device with soap and water as mentioned above and shake off the excess water. Now place the bottle, cap and tube in the microwave for 40 seconds. This will disinfect the bottle, cap and tube. If the microwave has been used recently, please make sure that the inside of the microwave has cooled back down to room temperature before using it to disinfect the bottle.

- Before using the SINUS RINSE Kit for the first time, please inspect the cap, tube and bottle carefully for wear and tear. If any of the components appear discolored or cracked, please contact NeilMed to obtain a replacement. - We recommend that you use the rinse ONE HOUR PRIOR to bedtime in order to avoid any residual solution dripping down the throat.
- We strongly advise against the use of our kit on children or adults who have physical limitations or mental disabilities due to developmental or acquired disorders. Adults should read the directions first before using it on their children. Keep out of reach of children. Do not swallow the solution; however, if you do so accidentally, there is no harm as the amount of sodium ingested in one swallow is insignificant.
- Patients who are unable to stand up or bend near the sink SHOULD NOT use this product. We advise you NOT to use this kit on patients who are bed bound or severely debilitated.

User questions & answers
Question: | On the porcelain model, is the handle solid or hollow? Also, does the cover work fairly well for keeping water from flowing over the top when tilted |
Answer: | The handle is hollow. Another reason why mine split in two pieces. The cover screws on and works good. I actually glued it back together and I'm using it again. |
Question: | What kind of plastic? What is the printed recycle number |
Answer: | It does not say what kind of plastic and does not have a plastic recycle symbol. Rest assured that it is definitely breakable, as my wife dropped it on the floor and it cracked. Go with the Yeti pot. It works just as well and has a much more impact resistant type of plastic. |
Question: | how do you use it |
Answer: | Fill it up, put in one of the packages, tilt your head sideways over the sink and stick it in the nostril that's on the top side and then switch to the other (assuming you have two nostrils). When the pot is empty, blow your nose to get out any water that still lingering in you sinuses. The real trick is make sure your head is really tilted sideways. The more sideways the better. I found that having my mouth open helps the flow...don't know why but it does. Be ready for a really weird feeling (Kind of like when you get water in your nose when you go swimming) but just go with it ...you'll be surprised how much better you feel moments after you're done. |
Question: | is it bpa free |
Answer: | It is bpa free but it is also poorly made. I've bought two of these know and both leak at the seams. Better off buying ceramic |

Mixture Packets Box Contains: 100 Regular Premixed Packets of pH Balanced Sodium Chloride & Sodium Bicarbonate Mixture (USP Grade, Natural Ingredients, Isotonic, Preservative Free & Iodine Free) Educational Brochure Instructions in English, Spanish or French What is the difference between Hypertonic (green) and Isotonic (blue) packets? This Green colored packet will make a Hypertonic (higher concentration) solution when mixed with 8 oz. (240 ml.) of water. It can also make an isotonic solution, equivalent to our regular blue colored packet, if mixed with 16 oz. (480 ml.) of water. Our regular product, the blue colored packet, makes an isotonic solution in 8 oz. (240 ml.) of water (using our SINUS RINSE bottle or other measuring devices). It is strongly recommended to use this Green packet only under the advice of your physician or using your judgment. A few research reports, plus feedback from some physicians and customers have reported additional benefits from using a hypertonic solution. If you experience any intolerable burning or stinging, please discontinue the use of the hypertonic solution. In my opinion, apart from transient, mild burning, it will not cause any permanent damage with a few uses. With time, you will be able to judge as far as what concentration of saline works best for you. What is the difference between the Pediatric Kit and the regular kit? NeilMed s Pediatric Sinus Rinse bottle has a volume capacity of 4 oz. (120 ml.), and an aperture (opening) on top of the cap of 3/32 in. (2.5 mm). Our Regular Sinus Rinse bottle has a volume capacity of 8 oz. (240 ml.) and an aperture (opening) on top of the cap of 3/16 in. (4.5 mm). Both systems are designed to give the same concentration of solution. Children or adults who feel that the volume of the regular 8 oz. (240 ml.) bottle with the 3/16 in. (4.5 mm) cap is too large, should consider trying the pediatric kit. The therapeutic benefits will be identical. Please do not use our regular blue colored. Suggested age - 10 years and up.
- Nasal Allergies, Dryness & Hay Fever

User questions & answers
Question: | Are the packets square (like in the product photo) or are they tube shaped |
Answer: | Neti pots & other nasal irrigation devicesMany people use Alkalol in neti pots and other rinse devices. Some tips to remember:An Alkalol Nasal Wash Cup holds 1 fluid ounce. Many neti pots hold 8 fl oz. Simply follow the directions above, adjusting the amount accordingly. When using a neti pot, or other large-volume irrigation device, we recommend mixing Alkalol with a salt water solution instead of plain water to ensure the best experience. Too much plain water in the mix can cause a burning sensation.Wash and dry your hands before using your nasal rinse device and make sure you clean and dry your nasal rinse device before and after use. |
Question: | how much water is it mixed with |
Answer: | Amazon itself is not selling this item. It is offered only by third-party sellers like myself (who buy it at places like Walmart). :) My typical customer is someone who doesn't live close to a Walmart, or perhaps doesn't drive, or maybe leads an extremely busy lifestyle and needs to pay someone to shop for them. That is essentially what they are doing when they buy from me - pay me to shop for them. My price on this item is currently $24.98, so after Amazon takes out $6.70 in fees, I'm left with a couple dollars to compensate me for my time to buy it, list it and ship it to Amazon's warehouse. It may seem a little crazy, but this is how I feed my family. Thanks for asking! Hope I cleared things up for you. |
Question: | Does each premixed packet contain powder or liquid? I.e. do I need to mix the contents with water before use |
Answer: | These are more than just salt. The baking soda buffers the saline solution, making it less irritating. I see no reason you can't gargle with this, but cheap table salt is probably at least as good. You can make the same thing a lot cheaper with pure salt (not iodized or with preservatives) and baking soda, but these single-use packets are convenient and cost only ~10 cents/use. |
Question: | what is the net content weight for each packet they are not marked |
Answer: | These contain 2.3 g of sodium and 0.7 g of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) per packet. Neil med contains 2.0 g of sodium plus not-listed baking soda. To be isotonic with the blood's usual max. of 0.145M sodium concentration, there should be a max. of 2.01 g of sodium per 8 fluid oz. of water (yes, I am a certified master chemist with a graduate degree from IIT). Overdoing it by 15% -as is done here- should be negligible and possibly beneficial since it would tend to make blood vessels push out liquid and reduce pressure but it's probably dilute enough to not have any effect. Note that 0.7 g of baking soda increases the molar concentration of sodium by only 0.02, which is negligible. |

Like Brushing Your Teeth
Nasal washing should be considered similar to brushing your teeth! You brush your teeth, wash your armpits, wash your hair, and wash the rest of your body, why not wash your nose regularly? You also change the air filter in your car, change the air filter in your home, so why not regularly wash your personal air filter (the nose)? In today’s dirty world where allergies, illness, and pollution are quickly rising, washing the nose is simply common sense! We want you to be well and breathe well!
• The air pollution increases by 5.5% annually*
Allergies, Sinusitis & Rhinitis

Nasal washing can help manage and relieve nasal symptoms associated with allergies, sinusitis AND rhinitis. With allergy season seemingly getting worse every year, it’s important to wash your nose and maintain good nasal hygiene. Why not decrease that toxic load? Buffered hypertonic saline has been shown in studies to flush out up to 80% of the allergens. Try Nasopure nasal wash and experience the difference!
• 40% of adults have nasal allergies in the USA*
• 30% of children have nasal allergies in the USA*
Using Nasopure
• Wash hands before using Nasopure.
• Keep head straight and look forward. No need to bend the neck.
• Place bottle tip into one nostril and point tip toward the back of the throat, not the eyes. Do not point tip upwards. Hold the bottle, so the water line aligns with bottle Level Lines.
• Ensure tip rests against nostril, making a tight seal.
• Take a breath and hold it, in order to block the back of your throat. While holding that breath, gently squeeze the bottle until the solution exits the opposite nostril.
• Squeeze the bottle gently, flushing solution along the nasal floor, making a U-turn, and exiting the opposite nostril.
• Exhale through the nose with mouth closed. This allows the excess solution to drain without popping your ears.
• Switch to other nostril & repeat.
• Allow nose to drain naturally. Blow nose gently. To allow any trapped solution to drain, bend forward from the waist & rotate your head from side to side.
• Read detailed instructions in full before using.
Recommendations
• Replace the bottle every 3 months.
• If ear popping occurs, blow more gently.
• Do not use immediately before bed or activity, as water may drip from the nose for several minutes after washing.
• First use, begin with Isotonic, and advance as tolerated to hypertonic for best results.
• Do not share bottles.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms worsen or if you have a significant medical condition.
• Read detailed instructions in full before using.
Warnings
• Never wash for anyone else.
• Never force a child to wash and never wash for a child!
• Never microwave plastic bottles.
• Always use sterilized, distilled or previously boiled water.
• Never use hot water for washing.
• Wash on congested side first and do not force.
• Never block the opposite nostril during washing or blowing.
• Never wash when you are completely congested (completely blocked on both sides) or have an ear infection without first consulting your physician.

Here's how Naväge works!
Naväge uses powered suction to:
- Pull refreshing saline from the upper tank into one nostril,
- Around the back of the nose, and
- Out the other nostril and into the lower tank.
Naväge is the world's only nose cleaner with powered suction to flush out allergens, mucus, dust, and germs. It's like the difference between a vacuum and a broom!
Naväge SaltPods and water create a perfectly balanced nose rinse – every time!
For safety and convenience, reliability and effectiveness, the Naväge Nose Cleaner only works with genuine Naväge SaltPods.
It's so simple!
No more measuring. No more salt spills. No more mess. Just pop in a SaltPod and Naväge does the rest!
Filled with pharmaceutical-grade saline concentrate, the SaltPod mixes instantly. You'll never have to worry about spilling salt again!
Naväge SaltPods are Nature's Decongestant!
New User Tip: Position the nose pillows correctly and keep your head level.
First, press the pillows in firmly to create a good seal. Once the cycle is initiated, back off a little to increase the flow. It's all about position (keep the tips centered and unblocked), and pressure (just enough to make a seal).
If a pillow tip is blocked, suction will decrease or stop, and you may get water down your throat.
Relax, smile, and stand up straight with your head level. This keeps the Nose Cleaner in the right position and allows the saline to flow freely though your nose.
We want Naväge to work for you, and we are sincerely committed to your having the best possible Naväge experience!
Some new users experience new user challenges, but extensive experience has taught us that most problems can be solved by following the troubleshooting tips, reading the Owner’s Manual, and watching instructional videos.
But if you need additional assistance we’ll do whatever it takes to get you back on track.
We’re here to help!
Naväge SaltPods are manufactured in Brooklyn, Ohio, USA.
The Naväge System is cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and by Health Canada for use by children ages 12 and older.
Product description
NeilMed SinuFlo Ready Rinse is a premixed solution that lets you enjoy a natural, soothing saline nasal wash anywhere in the world, without having to measure ingredients or findpurified water. The easy-squeeze bottle system allows you to deliver saline solution with sufficient pressure to clean your nasal passages thoroughly, while maintaining your head in a comfortable position. By washing away excess mucus—as well as allergens, bacteria and environmental pollutants—nasal irrigation can reduce inflammation and relieve congestion, runny nose and post-nasal drip. It has also been found to reduce infection and decrease the need for sinus medications. SinuFlo Ready Rinse is excellent for all ages.Step 1: Please wash your hands. Remove cap and safety seal from bottle. You may warm the solution in a microwave. We recommend that you warm it in increments of five seconds. This is to avoid excessive heating of the water and damage to the device or scalding your nasal passage. Step 2: Assemble black dome cap and tube, then tighten the cap and tube on the bottle securely. Step 3: Standing in front of a sink, bend forward to your comfort level and tilt your head straight down. Keeping your mouth open without holding your breath, place cap snugly against your nasal passage and SQUEEZE BOTTLE GENTLY until the solution starts draining from the OPPOSITE nasal passage or from your mouth. Keep squeezing the bottle GENTLY until at least 1/4 to 1/2 (60 mL/2oz to 120 mL/4oz) of the bottle is used for a proper rinse. Do not swallow the solution. Step 4: Blow your nose gently, without pinching your nose completely because this will apply pressure on the eardrums. If tolerable, sniff in any residual solution remaining in the nasal passage once or twice prior to blowing the nose as this may clean out the posterior nasopharyngeal area (the area at the back of your nasal passage). Some solution will reach the back of the throat, so please spit it out. To help improve drainage of any residual solution, blow your nose gently while tilting your head to the opposite side of the nasal passage that you just rinsed. Now repeat steps 2 & 3 for your other nasal passage.

The SinuPulse Elite was developed and engineered in Switzerland to be the best and most advanced nasal sinus irrigation system in the world complete with state-of-the-art electronics and Intellipulse™ technology. The SinuPulse Elite® is an award-winning sinus irrigation system which features the patented SinuMist® function. It is the only sinus irrigator capable of delivering both a gentle pulsating mist spray for doctor recommended rinses, solutions, or simple moisturizing and a more thorough cleansing pulsating rinse to clear the sinuses and massage the nasal cilia to their normal, healthy state. It really is like having two units in one! The oscillating stream of saline gently breaks down bio-film and frees your cilia to help you clear your sinuses of infections and foreign substances that can lead to chronic infections and allergy symptoms.
The SinuPulse Elite is a soothing drug free device to relieve symptoms caused by sinus infections, sinusitis, allergies and the common cold including: post nasal drip, cough, congestion, sinus headaches, and irritated nasal passages. Recommended by leading health care professionals pulsating irrigation is supported by published medical reports.
Nasal Irrigation is believed to have originated over 5,000 years ago in ancient India. The practice of irrigation in ancient times consisted of manually sniffing a saltwater solution into the nostrils to help relieve nasal congestion by rinsing the sinus passages of pollens originating from grasses, weeds, flowers and trees. Modern day neti pots and nasal wash bottles continue this tradition and have changed little over the last 5,000 years. However, advancements have been made in both the design of sinus irrigation delivery systems and the solutions used to clean the nose of inflammatory irritants responsible for allergy and sinus symptoms.
Imagine rain drops falling from the sky landing on the soil with a gentle force that breaks apart soil particles. As this process continues, runoff water travels over the ground, collecting more soil particles dislodged by the rain and transports them to a new location. Pulsatile irrigation mimics a cleansing process present in nature. The SinuPulse Elite® pulsating treatment is gentle, pleasant, & soothing leaving you feeling clear and fresh. The sinus system uses ordinary saline, or for best results, our enhanced SinuAir® nasal irrigation solution.
The SinuPulse Elite advanced features include: state-of-the-art Micro Touch power button, electronic LED display, encapsulated motor and pump assembly to resist wear from saline, improve durability and performance. fully adjustable pressure and pause control on handle for finger tip control, hypo allergenic design, calibrated pulse rate, measurement scale, hi-capacity water tank with hygienic cover, soft color coded nasal tips for family members, and sinus treatment information.
