Tips for using bedwetting alarms

1) Parents play an important role in particular at the initial stage of alarm treatment in waking your child as soon as the alarm goes off and are therefore recommended to sleep in the same room with your child for the first 2 weeks of using the alarm. Gradually, the child will be able to respond to the alarm on his/her own.

2) The position of the sensor is important. For boy, it could be better to clip the sensor to the inside flap of their underwear as the sensor can detect the urine quicker. For girls, the sensor should be attached on the crotch area since it is most likely to get wet first.

3) The underwear should be close fitting which is closer to the body and therefore urine will be detected by the sensor more quickly. DO NOT use loose boxer shorts.

Question:	How long is the cord from the alarm to the sensor
Answer:	The cord is 28 inches long.
Question:	My child got up to use the bathroom and took the sensor jack(the wire) out of the unit to remove her underwear, the alarm went off is that normal
Answer:	Yes. The only slight draw backs are that some times pressure on the pad can set it off as well. Once you set the unit...if you unplug it, apply too much pressure to the pad, it will sound the alarm. (False alarm) Just reset the Chummie (Top button) when this happens and you are ready to go.
Question:	The alarm is being triggered even if my kid is dry.... I am positioning it as directed. Anyone has the same issue
Answer:	I thought the same thing but what noticed is that that dry underwear has a small drop on it right where the chummie was. The alarm went off and stopped what would have been a fully wet bed. Sure I had to get up and change his underwear but when I sent him to potty he really had to go. This is exactly what I wanted the chummie for. It trains them by alarming at the first drop. My son had been dry for almost 2 weeks now. Before that it was just a few nights a week. When we first got it chummie it alarmed every night but I never had a mess to clean up at most it was a damp spot in the underwear. Question:	Alarm did not go off, he wore under wear under pullups with sensor attached. Underwear was soaked and no alarm. We tested the alarm and it works. Help
Answer:	The alarm went off immediately each time, even when he started to just dribble a little toward the end of the training. I don't know how old your child is, but nothing about this should be convenient. Our son was 9. Tips: NO MORE PULL UPS, that defeats the purpose. Make sure the alarm is across room. The first 3 nights, my husband slept in the living room. When the alarm went off, MY SON, had to go to the bathroom, change his underwear, put the clip back on, take the water proof pad off his bed and put it in a pile then put another one on (we had three folded up by his bed, I took an old sheet, cut it in half and sewed a vinyl table cloth to it so it was wide enough to tuck in across the bed). My husband helped him with this process the first 3 nights then we left him on his own. We talked about it each morning in just a matter of fact way. Sometimes he wet 2-3 times. He was completely cured of bed wetting within a month. It has been about 7 months so far and we are all still amazed!!! Answer:	It seems helpful. My son is doing better, but it has not stopped the bed wetting completely. It seems to be training his body to stop urinating, but is a slow process.

Answer:	It's about 2 1/4" square and about 1/2" deep. Comfort depends on how your kid sleeps. You should be able to find a spot that isn't too intrusive for them though.

Question:	Just pre-test the blue one and it has flashing red lights, but when I put a wet cloth in to test, it doesn't have sound or vibrate. Anybody knows why
Answer:	Please make sure you are using only Energizer or Duracell non-rechargeable batteries with your unit. Generic or off brand batteries will not work in the unit. Also, some tap water will not activate the alarm as it is looking for salty liquids. Once you have the correct batteries in the unit, wet your finger and touch either side of the sensor and the alarm should go off right away.
Question:	THe clip has been coming off my child's underwear, anyway to tighten it
Answer:	The clip should not be coming off. I suggest you return the device as soon as possible. But first ensure that child is not pulling clip off and also that you have clipped it properly.
Question:	We have tried the alarm for two weeks and still wetting the bed even with the alarm ringing. Is this part of the process
Answer:	This happened to me too but I realized that it was because the sensor was not placed right. I had mine placed so that as soon as there's any wetness, it goes off. I have a boy so it's very tricky. Hang in there, it gets better 🙂🙂

Question:	How do I turn this unit to the vibrate only mode? The alarm scared my kid to death
Answer:	If you open your unit to the battery compartment, you will find a three way switch. This switch allows you to change the mode from alarm and vibrate to alarm only or vibrate only.
Question:	The description says there is a "Two step" shut off process... how do you get the alarm to stop once its gone off? Is there a button or switch
Answer:	You press and hold the button to shut off the sound. It shuts off fast. You also have to make sure the sensor is dry. I guess that is the second step.
Question:	What is the size of the sensor? It is hard to tell from the picture and not in the product descriptions. Also, do the edges sharp to hurt baby
Answer:	The alarm is about the size of say a small beeper. The sensor no bigger than a quarter. I would be hesitant to use it on anyone less than say 3 who would be able to untangle the cord in case it got stuck. My son has not complained about sharp edges. He is 7.
Question:	Can this alarm be used with pull ups instead of underwear
Answer:	I put on my child's underwear under the pull-up, & attach the sensor to the underwear. She then can feel the wetness, & the alarm isn't touching her skin. I got tired of changing sheets, so pull ups were a God sent.

2. Be sure to use two fresh AAA batteries (not rechargeable type).
3. Make sure the sensor cord is securely inserted into the side port; when necessary to remove it, release by depressing the clip and extract it gently, do not pull on the cord.

Question:	Is it easy to turn the alarm off at night? The Malem alarm is too hard to figure out in the middle of the night so I stopped using it
Answer:	Yes it is very easy to turn off the alarm. There are two ways. The first way is to press a button on the battery back. The second option is to unplug the cord that is attached to the battery pack and sensor. Both are easily accessible. Make sure the sensor is completely dry.
Question:	I see one reviewer working on their 4th week. Has anybody had complete success and is not using this anymore? How long did it take
Answer:	It took us about 3 weeks for the alarm to start working. My son has been dry and not using the alarm for about 10 days now. We're crossing our fingers that he won't have a relapse. Hope that helps!

Answer:	The alarm part is REALLY loud but doesn’t wake either of my kids up, just me so that I can go help. The vibration part is what wakes my kids up. I use these on 2 kids right now and my eldest (6) doesn’t need my help so I have his set to vibrate only. Hope that helps.

Answer:	It has to be attached to underwear but you could put a pull up over the underwear. My 9 year old finally stopped wetting the bed using this. It took less than. 2 weeks

Answer:	It needs to be underwear because it clips on the outside. It works by sensing moisture and it wouldn't be able to do that through a pull-up. BUT you can wear a pull up over the underwater to protect the bed.

Answer:	The mat needs to be dried and preferably washed before use. Most children wet the bed once a night. If they wet more than once, continued use if the system will decrease that to once a night in a few weeks. Once wet, the mat is easy to way and dry. It can be ready in an hour or so. So if you have it wet in the evening, it will be ready by night.

Answer:	You use the same sensor. We use medical tape a little goes a long way! instead of the Chummie tape - that doesn't work the greatest with little panties. I tape the cord to the top of the panty line but we also put a pull-up on over the panties (to protect bedding) and it also holds the sensor in place.
