13 best fungus control for lawns
Fungus control for lawns typically falls under the category of lawn care and pest management rather than insect pest repellents or health care products. Here's what you can know about fungus control for lawns:
Lawn Fungal Diseases: Lawns can be susceptible to various fungal diseases, including but not limited to, brown patch, dollar spot, and snow mold. These diseases can manifest as discolored patches, moldy growth, or thinning of the grass.
Causes: Fungal diseases in lawns are often caused by factors such as excessive moisture, poor air circulation, compacted soil, and environmental conditions. Overwatering, inadequate drainage, and high humidity can contribute to fungal growth.
Fungicides: To control lawn fungus, fungicides can be used. These are chemical or biological treatments designed to inhibit the growth and spread of fungal pathogens. They come in various forms, including liquid sprays, granules, and powders.
Application: Fungicides should be applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, they are applied to the affected areas of the lawn and sometimes as a preventative measure to avoid fungal infections.
Lawn Maintenance: Proper lawn care practices can help prevent fungal diseases. This includes mowing at the correct height, ensuring good soil drainage, and avoiding overwatering. Adequate aeration of the soil can also help prevent fungal issues.
Fungus Identification: It's essential to correctly identify the type of fungus affecting your lawn to choose the appropriate fungicide or treatment. Different fungal diseases may require different approaches.
Seasonal Considerations: Some fungal diseases are more common during specific seasons, so the timing of treatment can be important.
Environmental Impact: When using fungicides, it's essential to consider their potential environmental impact. Some products may have specific guidelines for safe use around pets and wildlife.
Preventative Measures: In addition to fungicides, cultural practices such as overseeding, dethatching, and improving soil health can be used as preventative measures to reduce the risk of fungal diseases.
Remember that effective fungus control for lawns may require a combination of strategies, including proper lawn maintenance practices and the targeted use of fungicides when necessary. If you suspect a fungal issue in your lawn, it's a good idea to consult with a lawn care professional or garden center for guidance on the appropriate treatment and prevention methods for your specific situation.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is disease X organic |
Answer: | No. It is from the strobulin class of fungicides. There are organic ways of preventing lawn disease, but most are not effective as a curative. |
Question: | Should this product be put down on dry or wet grass |
Answer: | With most granular applications, it should be applied to dry grass. It will need to be watered in, but only a light watering is needed. It will not need the typical .5 inches to get it watered in. The reason for this is that wet grass is the last thing you need when dealing with a disease. |
Question: | What group fungicide is this |
Answer: | The active ingredient is in 11. If you mix it with a fungicide from 3, like propiconizole, you have a decently resistant mixture that works well. Or rotate every 2-3 weeks. |
Question: | Do you neee to water the lawn after disease ex is applied |
Answer: | Yes I watered after the application. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this kill leaf miners |
Answer: | This particular product would not provide insect control but only control of label listed plant fungus. To control leaf miners you may apply our 3 in 1 Insect, Disease, & Mite Control spray to all of your ornamental plants, flowers, trees, & shrubs. |
Question: | can this be used as a drench for roses? would it last longer |
Answer: | Don't know for certain, but I'd doubt it would perform as well as the spray. I do know the spray works infinitely better than the 3-1 formulation made by Bayer which is to be applied to the roots. It contains the same tebuconazole antifungal, but in a lower concentration than in the spray, and I found it did not help against powdery mildew like the spray does. |
Question: | is this product harmful to bees |
Answer: | To the best of my knowledge, it does not harm bees. It does seem to help control leaf fungus, but does not i eliminate it. It needs to be applied about every three weeks depending upon the weather conditions. |
Question: | Can this product safely treat powdery mildew on garden melon and cucumber leaves |
Answer: | This product is for flowers and shrubs. It is not a product for edible plants. It works well on roses but I never use it on vegetables and fruits. Then I use Daconil. The instructions on the label of Bayer Advanced say not to use the product for plants that you are going to eat. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The description says it's fungicide, but the photo of the bottle doesn't say fungicide... is it fungicide |
Answer: | It is a systemic fungicide. |
Question: | Is this granules that we put into a hose attachment? Also, how many square feet does it cover for lawns |
Answer: | Infuse is a liquid that is mixed with water and applied with a hose-end sprayer. I use it to control 'scab' on crabapple trees. Scab re-propagates by infecting the soil, tfusehen getting taken back up into the plant through the root system. Infuse kills the fungus in the infected leaf fall and soil preventing the tree from re-infecting itself. Scab is difficult to control and this is one of the o ly products I've had success with. It is best to use this in places where you have had problems BEFORE they re-emerge. For example, my crabapple has just budded, so this is a good time to treat the soil before the effects of scab are even notices. Re-apply every four to six weeks throughout the season. For lawns, the principle will be the same: apply to known problem areas before you see the emergence of lawn diseases. It is a concentrate, so it will cover a large area repeatedly. I have found that extra fertilization helps to kill fungus as the grass grows faster, spreads and is generally more healthy. |
Question: | I want to apply this as a soil drench around my cherry tree which is too large to spray. Can it be used for that |
Answer: | Yes I did dilute it as directions on label. I found a powder formula too that is actually easier to use. Same company and some product just in powder. |
Question: | Is it safe for the beneficial insects, esp the bees |
Answer: | It has no effect on insects. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the name of the fungicide in this product |
Answer: | Propiconazole - 0.51% as the active ingredient, other ingredients - 99.49%. This is (exactly, by words) all about ingredients I found on the bag. |
Question: | how come this is $12 more expensive than the exact thing at home centers |
Answer: | Shipping price is built in to Amazon's listed price. Since Amazon controls the markup via algorithm, sellers often pre-factor shipping into the listed price to ensure Amazon doesn't mark them lower than they choose sell it themselves. |
Question: | Will this kill mushrooms |
Answer: | I had reached out to Bayer/BioAdvanced and their response was "BioAdvanced Fungus Control For Lawns is not formulated to kill mushrooms. The product is only formulated to control listed fungal lawn diseases, such as Brown Patch and Dollar Spot." I tried using this for mushrooms and it does not work. |
Question: | What is the dilution rate? 1 oz. per gallon? 2? 3? 4? I want to use the Ortho Dial 'N Spray sprayer for better control |
Answer: | I wish it did have a dilution rate. Put this stuff in a sprayer that does because out of this bottle it goes FAST. I hooked/sprayed and the bottle was gone in under 2 minutes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How often are you suppose to apply on lawn that has brown patch |
Answer: | We have very severe brown patch and suffer very humid weather here. We put it on in May trying to beat it, but then again in July when the humid weather really kicks in. We have even discussed putting it on right now, but it has been raining......so I would say every 6 weeks to 2 months depending on how bad your fungus is. |
Question: | Has anyone used this on roses for black spot, rust, etc |
Answer: | I did -- It did not help me. |
Question: | I have the Infuse systemic fungicide..how much do I use for each plant |
Answer: | The picture attached to this question shows the hose end sprayer. It automatically mixes the solution with the water. This version is designed for large areas such as lawns - not individual plants. There is another version that is a concentrate. That comes with an attached instruction manual that lists dilutions for different plants. Use it in a pump up sprayer. Infuse is systemic fungicide. You only need to spray the top surface of the leaf. Just get it wet - but not so wet to have a lot of runoff. It is not good for a soil drench as it can kill beneficial microbes in the soil. Go to Bonide's web site for more info. |
Question: | Has anyone successfully used the Infuse fungi spray on azaleas |
Answer: | I'm researching all the fungicide products from Bonide to see if any of them can be used in Japanese Maples. I'm in Houston Texas and my 15 JM trees were great and all of a sudden their leaves start to curl and scorch and stop new leaves to came out. I was looking for a drench fungicide for the tall trees because it is difficult to get to the top with a spray. Please Help if any on this chat have knowledge about Japanese Maples |

User questions & answers
Question: | can I use this spray for the fruit trees |
Answer: | I would not its for lawns and might not be good for fruit trees or vegetables. for fungus try, Daconil Fungicide Concentrate 16 oz. . Insects try, Ortho Flower, Fruit and Vegetable Insect Killer Concentrate, 32-Ounce or insecticidal soaps . if you will eat anything you spray. |
Question: | How long after applying can you use a fertilizer like weed and feed |
Answer: | Hello, because this product is intended to be used around cracks and crevices and deals with fungus and insect control, it shouldn't have any affect on your application of weed and feed. Please keep in mind this product should be used in very limited ways, ie., avoid runoffs, and try to apply it so it does not affect bee activity. Immunox can be re-applied every couple of weeks when needed. |
Question: | Does it work for grubs |
Answer: | Short answer: No, it is not effective for grubs. I used to use Spectracide's Immunox for treatment and prevention of lawn fungus, until they put a broad spectrum insecticide in there. The Immunox currently sold will not only treat Fungus and insect pests, but will kill beneficial and vital insects like bees, ladybugs, butterflies, preying mantids, etc. So there is no longer any good reason to use Immunox. For Fungus, consider one of the generic offerings of Propaconizole offered here at Amazon and elsewhere. Very effective and gentle on the lawn. For grubs, consider Bayer "24 Hour Grub Killer Plus" with Dylox. Apply it when grubs are active, and water it in heavily right away. It is extremely and quickly effective, and then degrades in 48 hours to a week so that you do not have long lasting effects on beneficial insects. Only if you can keep it out of your gardens and flowering trees, you can use Merit or Adonis for season long control of grubs in your lawn. |
Question: | will this be safe for Zoysia grass |
Answer: | Zoysia is a turf grass as is St Augustinegrass so it should work. Do a little more research. |
