Answer:	It is a bit painful. I didn't find it useful. It made my skin swell and left indent marks as if I had picked at my face. I read reviews that putting hot towels or steaming your face to soften skin prior to using helped. It didn't. Would not recommend this product.

Answer:	The hoops are round and oval in shape. the wire for these is round to prevent skin tearing. I believe that the "square" and "round" description has to do with the barrel of the instrument. pictures as of 4 FEB 2014 are accurate.
