Answer: | According to America's Test Kitchen or Cooks Country, yes. One of those shows actually featured Mrs Abraham "Mary Todd" Lincolns' Pecan Pie Recipie. Of course in that time, there was no Karo or HFCS. Maple syrup, honey and molasses were the only "liquid" sugars available so... I'd recommend researching that recipie. She was a "Southern Belle" from Virginia and quite fond of Pecan Pie. |

How Pure Maple Syrup is Made
A small hole about 3/16" to 5/16" in diameter is drilled into the tree, and a spout is gently tapped into the hole. Sap collection is done through systems of tubing and pipeline. Throughout the season, the tubing systems are inspected for leaks and damage. One tree will produce about one quart of syrup per season.
Boiling
The sap from a maple tree has between 1.5 to 3% sugar content. The process of boiling the maple sap evaporates the water, caramelizing the sugars and concentrates the maple flavor.

Our process begins in the rich soils of the Upper Midwest where we select the finest Sugar Maple trees to cultivate.
SAP
As Winter ends and Spring awakens, sap begins to flow through the trees. During this special time, each tree is tapped to collect the sweetest Maple Sap.
SYRUP
Sap flows down to the sugar shack where 40 gallons of tree sap are boiled down to 1 gallon of Maple Syrup.
NOT TO GET ALL SAPPY
You want your maple syrup to be rich, thick, and flavorful. In order to achieve this, you must have healthy trees in healthy soil. Wisconsin has some of the richest soil and healthiest Sugar Maple trees in the World. Every season we tap these big healthy trees for their sweet sap. After a good boil, we end up with the most flavorful, rich and thick maple syrup out there. Add to pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, or anything you can imagine.

A good Sugar Maple tree is able to produce 1 to 2 quarts of pure maple syrup each season. Maple syrup produced with the help of reverse osmosis is environmentally friendly by reducing the duration needed to boil and assists in producing a clean high-quality syrup. Reverse osmosis does not negatively impact the quality of pure maple syrup and no chemicals of any kind are added by using an RO machine. Many people use reverse osmosis filters at home to produce incredibly clean water because it's a safe and easy process. Most Pure Maple Syrup produced in the past 20 years was produced through a combination of reverse osmosis and boiling. Thanks and Enjoy! - Brian |

Perfect Taste
It's all Grade A. The classses of pure maple syrup are based on color and flavor. They do not relate to quality. The grades are meant to help identify the right flavor profile for the palate or recipe. As a rule, the darker the maple syrup color, the more robust the flavor.
Maple Makes it Memorable
Forget pancakes, there are a lot of great ways to get maple into your daily diet. We eat maple every day, often as an ingredient in entrees you might not expect. Maple syrup & maple sugar bake up very similarly to cane sugar. Substitute about ¾ the volume of cane sugar with maple syrup, and reduce the other liquids to accommodate for any extra liquid. In the case of maple sugar, a one-to-one substitution generally works just fine.

Seven Generations of Stewardship
Since the mid-1800’s, the Coombs family has been acting as responsible stewards of the forest, following a ‘sustainable’ approach to agriculture long before anyone had a specific name for it – or could conceive of any other way to farm. As part of a fabric of nearly 8000 maple farmers who are all preserving maple forests, Coombs Family Farms is doing more than making maple. We are helping to preserve crucial habitat for thousands of distinct plants and animals that need large intact tracts of forest to survive.
Get Real - Taste the Truth
In 1887, the first breakfast syrup that wasn’t pure maple was introduced. It was made of 45% maple syrup and 55% corn syrup. Because it was less expensive than real maple syrup, it became an instant hit. By the 1990s, most imitation syrup brands had eliminated maple syrup from their products entirely, opting to use high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), artificial flavorings and artificial colors instead. As a result, labeling laws in the United States were enacted to prohibit artificial syrups from using the word maple in their names.

With a color and maple flavor more intense than Amber/Rich, this versatile grade is great as a topping and for cooking. Its strong maple flavor also lends itself to meat glazes, cooking recipes, and on top of waffles, pancakes, or oatmeal.

Known for its smooth maple flavor and slightly darker than the Golden/Delicate grade. This distinctive taste is produced mid-season when the temperatures start to warm. Its unique and subtle flavor is most often used for table syrup.
