Answer:	Hello, Thank you for your interest in our products, we appreciate it. It is important to note that the UMF Honey Association is a trade association made of voluntary paid membership, and is not a regulatory authority in New Zealand. As a trade association, they have their own honey grading system that their members must follow. Both the UMF rating system and our KFactor system have been deemed compliant for use by the NZ regulatory authority. Because the rating systems are internal standards, comparison of the two is not a transparent exercise. The regulatory authority in New Zealand, the Ministry of Primary Industries, has recently released the regulatory definition of Manuka honey, which will come into law from 5 February 2018. This is the result of many years of scientific research to find stable markers that can be easily and quickly replicated in the laboratory environment. Unfortunately, pollen analysis was not included because this requires specialist knowledge to differentiate the pollen. However, they have included a DNA test to prove floral origin as an easily replicated laboratory test. The markers used by the UMF association of Leptosperin, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), and Methylglyoxal (MGO) were not included into the regulatory definition due to stability and other issues undisclosed by the regulatory authority. The regulatory definition includes 4 chemical markers with varying threshold levels, and the DNA test. A sample must meet all 5 test standards to be considered (and labelled) as Manuka honey. Answer:	I am not certain on that as I do take CBD oil once a day in the late afternoon. But I do feel better then I have in the last month. I do know that my oral hygiene has improved and no sore or receeding gums since I am using Manuka honey. I swear by it and its tasty too! I high recommend it. It may be a little pricey but certainly worth it.

I started at a lower EMF number then, saw fantastic results, then worked up to a higher #. Each jar that I used I could tell that there is an improvement on my particular condition. I particularly like the EMF 20+ and the results that I am having with it. Answer:	Another consideration is HEAT. Even if it is UMF certified, heat will affect the quality and efficacy. Some manuka honeys are heated briefly to eliminate mold, etc. Also, shipping in hot weather can also adversely affect the honey. I have been using Kiva Manuka Honey lately and emailed the seller, Kiva Health, asking if their honey is completely unheated and where the honey is being shipped from. They chose not to answer. I have since switched to East Cape Te Araroa brand sold by Koru Naturals. They ship their honey through Priority Mail with cold packet enclosed to minimize exposure to heat. They are responsive to all questions and concerns. I have NO affiliation with any company. I have been using Manuka Honey for almost 20 years and have learned that there are vast differences in quality and care and that there are a lot of fraudulent "manuka honey" products on the market.

Question:	Do this have to be refrigerated after opening
Answer:	Absolutely not necessary to keep it in refrigerator. That is the major point of having MGO certified Manuka Honey - Methylglyoxal is a self preserving natural antibiotic that grows the potency unstoppable when stored above 50F ( 10C). Therefore, if you bought MGO400 in 2015 over 1 year your honey could show MGO550 at lab test. Since this year FDA allowed manufacturers do not print expiration day on Manuka Honey MGO, only the date of the production.
Question:	Is the jar made of plastic or glass? I have to check them in at the airport, need to make sure they are not easy to break
Answer:	You will definitely have a problem at the airport. I forgot mine in my carry on and had to quickly decant it into smaller bottles or lose the whole batch. Check the airport requirements or place in checked bag.
Question:	Where is the Proof that this is Pure Manuka Honey? Where is the UMF license
Answer:	If there is no visible proof then try using it. My wife was bedridden for 7 years. I bought Manuka honey (it was rated 16+ and I believe was when they just created the standard) anyway Nurses, doctors all were blown away because I showed them all that their methods are crap. In less than two weeks we were able to completely heal her bed sore. We never let it become a horror as I know happens in places but you get those expensive wound bandages and put the honey and then seal it in for a few days. Change it and clean the wound at least every two days if air gets to it or daily and just use gauze if it is in a place that gets wet etc. Even two or three times a day we had to change it when it was in a bad place. If you can seal it in with those bandages designed to keep the wound moist I had incredible results with a few healing in a week with only two or three changes. Of course everyone is different. I unluckily cannot vouch for this brand but I can Vouch for manuka honey working just amazing on bed sores. I had a doctor come to the house to see the results and from then on he made house calls to care for my wife. God bless him. She is gone now but Manuka honey made her life so much better. She had no more long lasting bed sores once we used Manukahoneyusa.com. I am in no way pushing that brand and do not know if it is superior than any others but I assure you that what I bought, BACK THEN (5 + years ago) worked. Life saver. I cannot say if this was the reason but something helped her keep her spirits up. She was an angel, never complained and never was nasty etc and she had serious issues. For my understanding it is much easier to comprehend about Manuka Honey grade scale when I do operate with milligrams per kilo and not by mythical and meaningless digits provided by Unique Manuka Factor Association - a commercial Association charging their members with annual fees. Not a single distributor is capable to explain you about what their digits mean while MGO standard is openly understandable. Lets think about Octane number in our gas and Cetane number in our diesel in comparison with UMF and MGO digits. What Octane numbers such as 87,91, 92 mean ? And what Cetane number 40 means in diesel fuel ? Well Octane numbers and Cetane number are scientifically and laboratory proven amount of energy your engine could "squeeze" from burning 1 cubic inch of such fuel. Cetane number is different. In fact, you can name Octane number gas 87 as REGULAR and 91 as Silver and 92 as Premium, but in fact, they still remain 87.91 and 92 Octane energy delivery scientific numbers. Answer:	I used both 250+ and 400+ to treat my daughter's colds (she is eleven) and it helped to calm her cough and she was able to sleep throughout the night. Answer:	Being an importer and US distributor of that honey for 4 years I can recommend MGO400+ for your skin application. But this company produces a special creme for acne, scarring, eczema. Such cremes are based on Manuka Honey MGO600+ and has a very limited supply. We have them both in stock. Check our inventory and you are going to find it.

THE MAGIC OF MANUKA

In her BBC News article, “Harnessing Honey’s Healing Power," Angie Knox quotes biochemist Professor Peter Molan about Manuka Honey: "It works on bacteria, fungi, & protozoa. We haven't found anything it doesn't work on among infectious organisms." True to Professor Molan’s words, Manuka Honey is widely believed to not only treat minor wounds and burns, but to:

• Help lower cholesterol
• Help reduce systemic inflammation
• Help treat diabetes
• Help reduce ear, eye and sinus infection symptoms
• Help reduce gastrointestinal problems

Hydrogen peroxide is a component of most raw honeys and is responsible for the antibiotic benefits most honeys provide. Most types of honey also have components with antibacterial qualities, but only Manuka Honey contains methylglyoxal (MG), one of the key UMF (Unique Manuka Factors) qualities. Indeed, the higher the concentration of MG, the more powerful the antibiotic effect, which is one reason honey producers have developed a scale for rating the UMF potency of Manuka Honey. Therapeutic abilities start with 5+ either UMF or Bio Active. The advantage of higher grades is that less honey can be used for the same results for everyday conditions. For extreme conditions, a 10+ UMF or higher is recommended.

MG OR MGO

MG, MGO or Methylglyoxal is a chemical compound found in Manuka honey which is thought to be responsible for the additional anti-bacterial properties. By itself an MG test isn’t robust enough as it can be fooled by flash heating the honey or by adding synthetic MG.

WHAT USED TO BE KNOWN AS BIO ACTIVE

The honey used to be tested in a petri dish against phenol. The numbers in the scale related to the equivalent % strength of phenol, when killing bacteria. This method of testing is no longer performed.

UMF

This represents the unique signature compounds characteristic of this honey which ensure purity and quality. These include: the key markers of Leptosperin, DHA and Methylglyoxal.

We have our own scale honey which uses the old numbers (e.g. 5+, 10+) from “Bio Active” tests but we now use MG and Leptospirin levels to calculate these numbers instead. We also carry a range of UMF rated Manuka Honey.

POLLEN COUNT

Pollen count has traditionally been used to determine if a honey is to be considered monofloral. Very often this is quoted as a percentage. This method falls short when it comes to grading Manuka as the cost of Manuka continues to rise.. For example, if you were to blend Manuka honey with a low pollen honey such as Honeydew (nectar comes from aphids) then you can still get a high percentage of Manuka Pollen even though the percentage of Manuka Honey is relatively low.

• Creamed honey is honey that has been processed to control crystallization. The process is often used in colder climates and involves heating the honey. We do not cream our honey as we do not use heat, which damages the enzymes.
