Giuseppe Giusti Gran Deposito Aceto Balsamico Di Modena Aged Artisan Italian Balsamic Wine Vinegar, 8.45 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)

Giuseppe Giusti

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price
  • ANCIENT PROCESSES - Made from the must of cooked sundried grapes and aged wine vinegar, this gourmet balsamic vinegar ages in barrels. Giuseppe Giusti vinegars are made with a strict process that’s been perfected over time. Much like wine, sweet balsamic vinegar is specific to one region in the world where the grapes are just right. Traditional Italian balsamic comes from either Modena or Reggio Emilia. Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is produced from grape varieties Lambrusco or Trebbiano.
  • AGED TO PERFECTION - Our balsamic wine vinegar is aged to perfection in special barrels handed down for generations of the Giusti family. The barrels are made of different types of wood for different steps of the process so the vinegar will take on the complex flavors of the casks. After a minimum of 12 years, the vinegar can be considered ready for consumption. Only if the vinegar reaches a certain standard of taste can it be bottled and sealed.
  • FLAVORFUL BALSAMIC VINEGAR - The flavor profile of this Gran Deposito Balsamic Vinegar brings notes of plum jam, red fruit, honey and vanilla. This gourmet balsamic brings a deep brown color and glossy velvety smooth texture. Complex, aromatic, and acidic undertones make this balsamic wine vinegar from Italy a great pairing with fresh pasta such as ravioli, beef, soft cheese, or fresh fruit.
  • TRULY CLASSIC TASTE - Giusti was founded in 1605 and is the longest running vinegar producer in the world. Giusti is dedicated to constantly improving its attention to the environment, adopting the most modern, best practices to reduce the environmental impact for greater sustainable agriculture.
  • CAREFULLY BOTTLED - Each custom Italian vinegar glass bottle is crafted from an old favorite recipe of Riccardo Giusti and stored in barrels to preserve a complexity of unique flavors. Our promise to you is that each bottle of Giusti, from our premium balsamic vinegars to our variety of flavorful glazes and condiments, contains only the finest quality of ingredients to perfectly complement all of your favorite recipes.

User questions & answers

Question: What are the ingredients
Answer: Cooked grape must and wine vinegar. It has a sweet taste but no sugar is added; the grapes themselves are the sweetness, I think. You will love this balsamic vinegar and will want to keep it on the table to use on many things. I have found that if I keep it in a dark place, away from the heat, I forget about it, so it stays on my marble pastry slab to keep it cool in our southern climate.
Question: does this need refrigeration
Answer: I do not refrigerate mine. I have had several bottles, and have never refrigerated them. It is the best Balsamic!
Question: can anybody compare this to other 18 year aged balsamics? A lot of the young stuff is barely dense
Answer: This is not aged18 years, but is good. You'll have to try a few pricer brands or go to a DOP to get much better, althugh tastes vary of course. Botte Piccola is similar but less tangy, Mussini Reserva di Famiglia is a step up to 14 years ages but is only 100 ml, not 250. Mia Bella is not in the same class, it's more food-grade. Hope this helps.
Question: Why do i not see the mandatory accredidation "aceto balsamico tradizionale di modena" printed on the label if it is the real thing
Answer: Perhaps you are referring to the DOP accreditation (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) rather than the words in your question. DOP certified balsamic vinegar production is subject to oversight be the DOP consortium. The balsamic can only contain grape must and nothing else - no wine vinegar, no sugar, no caramel coloring ... nothing. It has to be aged for a minimum of 12 years, and comes in a specifically shaped bottle which the produce has to buy from the consortium. It will also cost you 2-3x more than this depending on the source. I have a couple of bottles of the DOP and it is truly amazing balsamic, but at about $100 for a small 3.5 ounce bottle I use it sparingly and probably wouldn't put it on a salad. I've not tried this particular balsamic, but from the reviews, it looks like a good balsamic for salads and many other uses.

Crafted in Modena, Italy Since 1605

Giuseppe Giusti was founded in 1605 in Modena, Italy and is the longest running and most prestigious vinegar producer worldwide. Giusti is dedicated to constantly improving its attention to the environment and adopts the best practices in order to reduce the environmental impact for greater sustainable agriculture. Today, the 17th generation of the Giusti family continues the tradition of creating beautiful balsamic vinegar.

Time-Honored Process

Grapes for Giusti’s balsamic vinegars are carefully selected for their high quality and delicate concentration of sugars and acidity, usually Lambrusco and Trebbiano varieties from the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia in beautiful Northern Italy. The grapes are then pressed and the fresh juice is boiled down to a thick, sweet syrup. The syrup then ages in a wooden cask along with the “Mother” vinegar.

Aged in Centuries Old Casks

The heart of our production is a collection of 600 casks dating back to the 1600s, from where the purest extractions that create the unmistakable aroma of our balsamic vinegars are collected. Casks provide an intensity of wood essences and aromas to vinegars, and the older the cask, the more complex the vinegar. Each vinegar is aged to perfection and IGP certified to ensure authenticity.

Question: difference between villa manodori balsamic vinegar and villa manodori balsamic vinegar Artigianale
Answer: 8.5, but this balsamic is like syrup and a little goes a long way! Best product you can get!!!
Question: Is there a big difference between this and a $15-$20 bottle? I am thinking much better than $5 bottle but concerned about the "diminishing return
Answer: Don't have a clue. That being said, it is an excellent, high end balsamic. This is not a balsamic to be used to make a basic salad dressing. That would be a waste. Rather, this is used sparingly, e.g., with a good EVOO on a mozzarella and tomato salad or on sandwich made with an excellent loaf of bread.
Question: How many ounces is this bottle of Villa Manodori Balsamic Vinegar
Answer: There are 11g of sugars and 11g of carbs per Tbs.
Question: Ingredient? Grape with no sugar, Carmel, etc
Answer: The ingredients list says "cooked grape musts and wine vinegar". Having said that, grapes have "naturally" occuring sulfites (there is naturally occuring sulfur in many foods. Grapes are among them.) But there is no "added man made sulfites" here (which I think is your concern and what some people are allergic to). Grape musts are the parts of the grape that are used to make wine from grapes (musts means: skin, flesh, seeds of the grape). M G Pappas is a very good, aged balsamic vinegar without any additives (unless you count wine vinegar as such), and less acid than less quality ones. Modena, Italy is a place where some of the best balsamic vinegars come from.

Answer: From 2009, in Italy is changed system of rating for balsamic vinegar. There use to be different systems and most popular was stars and leaf. Now there is no more system and all is based on tasting, same like olive oil. Who is using these systems, are trying to hide something as per Italian law, they are applicable any more.
Question: Are all of these dark balsamic or white
Answer: Dark balsamic vinegar.
Question: Are there any added sulfites? or just naturally occuring ones
Answer: No, there are NOT added sulfites, they are natural sulfites from grapes.
Question: I do not see ingredients listed

User questions & answers

Question: How do you use the cork pour spout
Answer: Pull off the wood/cork stopper(like a wine bottle) then push in the cork stopper with the glass tube in side(it too has a cork stopper that covers the glass tube) the glass tube has a little pour spout moulded on one side. Simple but works great ! The balsamic vinegar is the tastiest for the price. I have seen it used as part of the condiments on the table in restaurants in Italy (Way back in the day when you could travel).
Question: Why's the listing say "smoother than other balsamic vinegars (especially ones with wine vinegar)" while product label shows this is part wine vinegar
Answer: This balsamic is thick and smooth. It doesn’t have a powerful vinegar punch that most balsamic vinegars sold in the US have. You can easily find vinegars like this one in Italy but it’s much harder to find in the US.
Question: is this kosher
Answer: No this product is not Kosher.
Question: If this is aged 15 to 18 years, why doesn’t the product description say so? I would like an answer from the producer
Answer: By law, iGP balsamic vinegar from Modena can’t be labeled with an age. DOP balsamic can only be labeled “affinato” (at least 12 years old) or ”extravecchio” (at least 25 years old). Some producers skirt the law by labeling their IGP products with how many times they’ve been transferred (“travasi”) to smaller barrels in the batteria. that typically happens once a year, so if a bottle says “10 travasi,” it’s likely 10 years old.

True balsamic vinegar made from a reduction of pressed Trebbiano and Lambrusco grapes from the province of Modena

Due Vittorie is situated in the heart of the province of Modena, works with Modena in its heart and is a fine example of the genuine quality of the agricultural industry of the Emilia area.

Traditional balsamic vinegar is produced from the juice of just-harvested white Trebbiano and Lambrusco grapes. Surrounded by its own vineyards – to produce the raw material – the company continues to work according to tradition.

User questions & answers

Question: what year aged
Answer: An earthquake hit modena in 2012, destroying many warehouses used to store and age food products like Parmagiano, which got all the media attention. I suspect the balsamic warehouses were desired as well, meaning they started aging balsamic again after that, so this would likely be less than 6-7 years, unless it was bottled before the quake and just old stock, but i think all that stuff has been sold by now.
Question: Are these glass bottles? If so can they withstand long distance shipping
Answer: They are sturdy glass bottles that should be fine as long as you wrap them in bubble wrap. The packaging that they come in is very sturdy also.
Question: how long is unopened old bottle usable
Answer: I have a bottle that has been opened for several months and it is still great!
Question: Do you need to refrigerate after opening
Answer: I have never refrigerated ANY vinegar. If someone else says so, c'est la vie.

User questions & answers

Question: How long has this product been aged before bottling
Answer: In Italy, the only balsamic that can state age is a DOP product. These run at a minimum of 12 years and require the approval of the Consortium there. In keeping with these rules, we are not able to state the specific number of years aged. I can, however, give you some extra info on the pre-bottling aging process. This balsamic is a Balsamic Vinegar of Modena - balsamic that is aged in wooden casks. This balsamic has been aged in Oak barrels with the minimum eighty percent concentrated grape must and aged red wine vinegar. With this high quantity of grape must, you'll find a balsamic that is wonderfully sweet (no added sugars) and with a great thickness. This 16 fl oz balsamic is a great mix of quantity and quality such that you have a deep viscosity that will work well for a salad and cling right on to meats, cheeses, bread and more. If you are in the hunt for a DOP certified balsamic, look for a 3.4 oz bottle with the specific certification from the Italian consortium. This is the one size they'll come in and typically range around $150-250 per 3.4 oz bottle. If you're thinking of a balsamic for every day and weekly use, we'd be happy if you gave our product a go. If you are not completely satisfied, we are happy to help you.
Question: is this contain alcohol
Answer: No. There is no alcohol in Blazing Bella Balsamic (Barrel aged traditional, 250mg). I have many of their balsamic vinegars and they are all delicious. I wouldn't even consider purchasing another brand of balsamic vinegar. Blazing Bella is the best!!! None of their balsamic vinegars have any alcohol.
Question: What are the ingredients
Answer: For the traditional: 100% Balsamic Vinegar. Scroll through product images to see Nutrition Facts - at the bottom of that image, the ingredients are listed.
Question: does the 8.5 oz sampler come with a pourer
Answer: Yes, each 8.5 fl oz bottle comes with a built-in plastic pourer.

Just a splash is all you need to create meals that amaze. Here, an oven broiled salmon with traditional balsamic vinegar and a side of roasted asparagus.

Product description

The Traditional Balsamic Vinegar di Modena is aged for at least 25 years and is unique from all other vinegar-based condiments. Unlike ordinary vinegar which has its origins in an alcoholic liquid, balsamic vinegar is produced directly from grape juice. This vinegar’s therapeutic properties have now been confirmed by its high content of mineral salts and sugars.

The grapes are harvested in the same region in which this balsamic vinegar is produced, crushed and its liquid must be boiled in an open vat over a fire. This liquid is then placed in high-quality wooden barrels in which through an oxidation process is transformed into vinegar. The barrels are kept in a vinegar loft “acataia” where inside is lovingly cared for through a special technique involving transfers and topping up. Over many years micro biotic and enzymatic modifications unite to achieve an exceptional balance in flagrance and flavor.
