User questions & answers

Question: Polyphenol count
Answer: The polyphenol count is not noted anywhere. This is a good olive oil for everyday cooking. It is not bitter so my gut feel is it may not have high polyphenol count.
Question: how much is in each bottle
Answer: 16.9 (Fl Oz) per Bottle it also comes is other sizes for (Everyday EVOO) - 25 (Fl Oz) - 33 (Fl Oz) - and Chef Size 47 (Fl Oz)
Question: is this organic olive oil
Answer: not knowing your definition of "organic" I can only tell you is is NON-GMO Verified, KETO Certified, PALEO Certified, WHOLE 30 Certified. And per the website, has State of California Certification that no other substances are used to cut the EVOO, so I consider it pure.
Question: Is this from 100% california grown olives? i know what the post says, but comments on another california olive ranch product makes me wary
Answer: The bottles labled Destination Series, and harvested in the 2017-2018 harvest season are not from 100% California grown olives. The label on the basic bottle you can find in stores now says Destination Series and says the olives are sourced from growers in California, Argentina, Chile, and Portugal, then refined and bottled in California. It does NOT have the California Olive Oil Council seal. It does have a seal in place of that saying it is certified Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I have an older bottle on hand from the 2015 harvest. The label says it uses 100% California grown olives and it has the California Olive Oil Council seal. This is the one Cooks Illustrated recommended where they explained olive sourcing and why it is better to buy from companies that bottle close to and soon after harvest. Many loyal customers, as you can see in the reviews, are upset about this, thinking California Olive Ranch betrayed them. They have been buying for a while and probably didn't look closely at the label. I can't blame them for feeling baited and switched. If this disappoints you, as it did me, wait for the next harvest before dismissing California Olive Ranch entirely. I have no affiliation or insider knowledge but I believe this is only a temporary change due to a bad harvest. In fact, the company's CEO is on record in the NY Times as saying the 2018 California olive harvest was a disaster for growers due to the unseasonably cold winter (elsewhere, it was reported it sent CA olive oil manufactures scrambling to find olives to stay afloat and meet demand) and that they had established partnerships with other countries a few years ago in case of this very situation. He also said at least 26% of the oil in each Destination Series bottle is from California. It was also in the news late last year that California Olive Ranch is expanding their plantings by 2000 acres, which should help mitigate less productive years.

User questions & answers

Question: Are the pictures and description accurate? I thought they were only selling the Destination series, which is a mix of California and foreign oils
Answer: It’s a old listing, apparently. A couple of years ago or so, California Olive Ranch started importing olive oil and blending it to meet growing demand (olive trees take 5 to 10 years from planting to become commercially productive, so planting new trees couldn’t have given them the increased product they needed fast enough). To distinguish this, they branded the new blended oil “Destination Series,” but the packaging and labeling is deceptively similar. Today, consumers wanting the critically-acclaimed 100% California oil have to be careful to examine the package closely.
Question: does the oil solidify when put in the refrigerator
Answer: Destination series contain certified extra virgin olive oil from California,Argentina, Chile and Portugal.
Question: california olive ranch cold presses their award-winning 100% california grown olives" why does the product arrive andis from 3 foreign countries+ca
Answer: Our 100% California is made from 100% Californian grown olives and is certified by Applied Sensory, an independent, third-party sensory panel and certifying body. Applied Sensory certifies extra virgin olive oils from all over the world to the OOCC standard. Our 100% California additionally displays the OOCC seal from the Olive Oil Commission of California.
Question: Is this the “Destination Series” mixing imported oils
Answer: The smoke point for our oil is over 425ºF.

User questions & answers

Question: What year was this oil harvested(if you know). What is the by before date? Thanks
Answer: No definitely not. That's an error. They are developing an organic one but have not sold any yet.I have spoken to this company many times. Great olive oil. They use IPM right now. I am hoping they have a successful harvest and sell organic soon.
Question: How many bottles are in the package for this price
Answer: From the North American Olive Oil Association article - "Keto diet and olive oil" - January 30, 2018. Olive oil is allowed within a keto diet. It has no carbs and is 100% fat. One of the most concerning things about the keto diet is amount of saturated and animal fats. Adherents to the keto diet often choose coconut oil, butter and lard as their primary fats. This is unnecessary. All fats contain the same number of calories and grams of fat. You can follow a keto diet just as well by avoiding faddish fats such as coconut oil and relying on healthy fats such as olive oil. This is directly from an article published by the North American Olive Oil Association: Keto Diet and Olive Oil January 30, 2018. "If you are going keto, take care of your health and use olive oil instead of saturated fats. The antioxidants in olive oil will help you absorb the nutrients in the small amount of vegetables that you are allowed to consume. As a liquid fat, olive oil is easy to drizzle onto keto meals. Olive oil can improve the flavor of just about any meal and can be consumed by the spoonful by itself between meals.
Question: It says "100% organic" in description - is it truly organic
Answer: YES. This is delicious olive oil. It is lite. I make salad dressing and we put different types of vinegar with it for dipping bread. It is the best we had enjoyed. I have use it in making waffles it was great but I just tried it in my banana bread and it was too heavy for that. I think if I cut the amount in half it would have worked.
Question: Is this keto (like the other version they offer that's twice as expensive
Answer: Please note that while the levels of polyphenols stay relatively consistent, the exact numbers can fluctuate from year to year and over time. The polyphenol levels for our 100% California Reserve Millers Blend is 300 mg/kg.

Question: Is it cooc certification

We are USDA certified organic and this is totally prohibited. Thank you for your interest.
Question: What is the polyphenol content of this oil

User questions & answers

Question: Is it cooc certified
Answer: I have had for a couple of months and it is almost gone. The bottle shows harvest date in Oct-Nov 2019 and best used date of Feb 12 2021. I do store in dark place and lower cabinet for as cool as possible location.
Question: Tiene la certificación cooc? gracias
Answer: Not sure what a cooc seal is but the bottles are sealed so that breaks away when you Twist the cap to open.
Question: How long, after opening, is it good
Answer: Typically we have the most recent fall harvest available in January the following year. So for example, the 2020 harvest would become available in January 2021.
Question: Where is the cooc seal located on the bottle? can't see it on picture provided
Answer: Short Answer: Lucius is not certified by the COOC. Long Answer: Lucius is certified organic by the USDA and this also guarantees the Californian origin of our oil. When applying for certification, the USDA checks all the label claims and validates that they are truthful and accurate. We feel that adding the COOC seal on top of our USDA organic certification adds extra cost, with no real extra value to our customers.
