12 best coffee grains

Coffee grains, often referred to as coffee grounds, are an essential component of the coffee-making process. They play a crucial role in brewing that perfect cup of coffee. Here's what you need to know about coffee grounds:

  1. Coffee Grounds Origins: Coffee grounds are the result of grinding coffee beans. These beans are typically the seeds of the Coffea plant, with various species grown around the world in coffee-producing regions, such as South America, Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

  2. Grind Size: Coffee grounds come in different grind sizes, which are crucial for determining the brewing method. Common grind sizes include coarse, medium, and fine. Coarser grounds are typically used for methods like French press, while finer grounds are suitable for espresso.

  3. Coffee Brewing Methods: Coffee grounds are used in various brewing methods, including:

    • Drip Coffee: Medium-coarse grounds are suitable for drip coffee makers.
    • French Press: Coarser grounds are used in a French press to create a strong and bold brew.
    • Espresso: Fine grounds are essential for making espresso, which is a concentrated and rich coffee.
    • Aeropress: Aeropress coffee requires a medium to fine grind for a quick brewing process.
    • Cold Brew: Coarse coffee grounds are steeped in cold water for an extended period to create a smooth and low-acid coffee concentrate.
  4. Flavor Extraction: The grind size of coffee grounds impacts the rate at which flavors are extracted during brewing. Finer grounds have a larger surface area, which leads to faster extraction, while coarser grounds extract more slowly. This extraction process influences the flavor, aroma, and strength of the coffee.

  5. Used Coffee Grounds: After brewing, the used coffee grounds can be repurposed for various purposes, including:

    • Fertilizer: Coffee grounds are rich in nutrients like nitrogen and can be used as a natural fertilizer in gardens.
    • Odor Neutralizer: They can help absorb and neutralize odors, making them useful in refrigerators or as a hand scrub.
    • Cleaning Scrub: The gritty texture of coffee grounds makes them effective for scrubbing surfaces.
    • Skin Exfoliation: Some people use coffee grounds in homemade exfoliating scrubs for the skin.
  6. Sustainability: Coffee grounds can be considered a sustainable resource because they are a byproduct of coffee consumption and can be repurposed, reducing waste.

  7. Storage: Coffee grounds should be stored in an airtight container to preserve their freshness. Exposure to air, moisture, and light can cause them to lose flavor and aroma over time.

  8. Varieties: The type of coffee bean used to create the grounds can also influence the flavor. Common coffee bean varieties include Arabica and Robusta, each with its own flavor profile and characteristics.

In summary, coffee grounds are a fundamental element in the world of coffee. The grind size, brewing method, and type of beans all contribute to the unique taste and experience of a cup of coffee. Additionally, used coffee grounds have various practical uses beyond the initial brewing process.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this coffee tested for mold
Answer: It is a freshly roasted coffee , why should it be tested for mold? This test has a meaning if you buy imported Italian or other origin coffee which is roasted months before appearing on the selves
Question: Where Is This Grown
Answer: Roasted and packed in the USA, says Columbia Medium roast Arabica coffee. It does not specifically say where its grown. I would think if you’re really a coffee aficionado you would be questioning where and when it was roasted.
Question: Why did the price of Colombia coffee beans jump from $2.29 to $17.69 in 2 weeks
Answer: Market volatility. All commodities rise and fall based on quantity available, political concerns, etc.. it will go down again.
Question: Does each bag come labeled with a roast date
Answer: I have a bag of the "Go For The Bold Dark Roast". On the back of the bag, it has "Best By 06 Oct 2018". Below that are a series of meaningless numbers. That gives us no clue as to the roast date.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the amount of caffeine in this decaf coffee
Answer: Thanks for your question. This is actually not a decaf coffee. We offer a Colombian decaf under our Don Pablo brand, and also one under our Subtle Earth Organic brand. Both are Swiss water process and 99.9% caffeine free. Hope this helps, thanks for your interest in our coffees!
Question: How do I contact the seller
Answer: go to your orders and click on order details
Question: What is the phenols of this coffee
Answer: No idea. It's not on the bag, and no lab has done testing on this coffee as far as I can find. These beans are grown at higher altitudes, and normally phenol levels will be higher in those trees than they would in ones growing at a lower altitude. What I do know is that it's organic, fair trade coffee, and it's quite good. If price is an issue, check between Sam's Club and Amazon. I got a better deal this month on 2 bags from Sam's.
Question: Is it best to keep this at room temperature, or in the freezer? Thank you
Answer: We keep it at room temp we never freeze beans.

User questions & answers

Question: Can someone explain the difference between the can direct from canada ( melange) and the cheaper, same size , arabica blend? is it just packaging cana
Answer: The only place/product I have purchased for Tim Horton is the can from Amazon. I don't know what if any difference there is between packaging
Question: How many 6 to 8 oz cups can this make when using Keurig K-cup resuable cups
Answer: It is the same size as the Dunkin Doughnuts bag of coffee and they advertise up to 130 cups. I just know that getting this is a much better deal than anywhere else.
Question: I bought the 32oz Tim Horton's coffee for 14.99 towards the end of November and now it is twice the price. Has anyone found it at the 14.99 price
Answer: $25.37 seems to be the new price unfortunately and is actually sold by Amazon.com not by a 3rd party. If you go to Tim Hortons USA website, then their store section, the links are directly to Amazon as a seller and that's the price. My old bookmark that was linking to the Tim Hortons USA seller on Amazon comes back as invalid now, so looks like we won't be purchasing Tim Hortons coffee in the USA any more which is a real shame :(
Question: With shipping this can of coffee is $28.98. I used to buy it with my PRIME for around $14.99/ can Do you think ONE can is worth almost $30. shipped
Answer: I also bought it for $14.99 with prime. As much as I love timmies coffee, I think $30 is expensive and I would not have bought it at that price.

Kick Your Coffee Habit with Our Ayurvedic Roast

If you’re looking to kick the coffee or caffeine habit, or you’ve tried other coffee substitutes and coffee replacement drinks without success, it’s time to start your day with Ayurvedic Roast!

Our gourmet USDA certified organic product is made of roasted barley, chicory, and rye mixed with three antioxidant and adaptogenic herbs: ashwagandha, shatavari, and brahmi. The unique synergy of these three treasured organic herbs creates a soothing, uplifting, and strengthening effect on the mind, body, and spirit.

The result is a healthy, delicious drink with a rich flavor that naturally emulates coffee and contains hints of chocolate! Better than a low acid coffee, this is a NO acid coffee substitute!

Perks to Going Herbal

Let’s take a look at the three organic herbs we use in our blend:

Ashwagandha, sometimes referred to as the ginseng of India, has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda. Over 200 studies have documented the herb’s ability to help reduce stress, anxiety and depression, increase stamina and endurance, and boost immunity.

Shatavari, also known as Indian asparagus, has been shown to be useful as an antioxidant that supports a strong immune system, combats indigestion, and can help you feel more energy.

Brahmi, also known as bacopa, has been shown in some studies to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It may also improve memory, focus, attention, and other cognitive functions. In part due to its ability to help regulate dopamine and serotonin, preliminary studies have indicated that it might also help contribute to a sense of well being when taken.

Why No Caffeine?

It's not uncommon for caffiene to have unwanted effects on some people. Even a small amount can result in insomnia, nervousness, and an upset stomach if they are vulnerable to caffiene.

Have you noticed any of these side effects recently?

  • Migraine headaches
  • Sleeplessness
  • Irritability
  • Fast heartbeat

Our Ayurvedic Roast is a 100% Certified Organic herbal coffee substitute that tastes like real coffee with no caffeine. It brews like coffee, drinks like coffee, just without the edge and side effects of caffeine!

What is Ayurveda?

"Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which continues to be one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential.

The two main guiding principles of Ayurveda are 1) the mind and the body are inextricably connected, and 2) nothing has more power to heal and transform the body than the mind. Freedom from illness depends upon expanding our own awareness, bringing it into balance, and then extending that balance to the body.

Ayurveda is a personalized approach to health, and knowing your mind-body type allows you to make optimal choices about diet, exercise, supplements, and all other aspects of your lifestyle."

- Deepak Chopra, M.D. from 'What Is Ayurveda?" on the Chopra website

How To Brew It

Steep like tea or brew like coffee. Any way you do it, you'll be getting a tasty and healthy caffeine-free beverage!

1. Boil It in Pure Water - Add 1 tablespoon for every 1 cup of pure water, and boil about 5-10 minutes. Strain and drink. Straining is optional, as the grounds will be soft and are edible. The longer it boils, the stronger it gets. Serve with milk or cream, or soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, or coconut milk.

2. Coffee Drip Machine - This also works well, and produces a deep flavored cup. Use from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of Roast per cup (8 ounces) of water.

3. Coffee/Tea Press - Pour boiling water into a coffee/tea press, and add the Roast. Then let sit for 5-10 minutes, depending on the strength desired.

4. Percolator - This is an old-fashioned brewing method, but still one of the best for extracting maximum flavor.

5. Just Pour Hot Water On It! - Pour hot water into a cup containing 1-3 teaspoons (based on desired strength), and let sit for 3-5 minutes. The grounds will get soft, and can be eaten, as they are the barley, rye, and chicory root. Healthy!

How to Make "Cold Brew"

Some like it... cold! Check out this recipe on how to make a cold brew concentrate!

Step 1 - Pour 2½ cups of water into a mason jar and add 1/3 cup of grounds on top. Close the jar tightly with a lid and let it steep overnight.

Step 2 - Filter the content of the mason jar so the grounds and liquid are separated.

Step 3 - Dilute with water or milk and add sweetner to taste.

Step 4 - Save the rest and enjoy it over the next few days!

  • Non GMO
  • Blended and roasted in Italy
  • Best used for espresso but also suitable in any coffee maker

User questions & answers

Question: best before date
Answer: If you buy pre-ground, the best buy is before you ever bought it. With whole beans, don't grind until immediately before you use it. Don't buy more than you can use within a couple of months. First order arrived 3 weeks from roasting date and tasted great . Second order arrived 6 months from roasting date, much longer than I would have liked, however, still tastes great!
Question: Is this dark roast oily? Can it be used in an fully-automatic machine
Answer: They ARE oily now. I have used these beans in my super automatic machine for 3 years, UNTIL the last few batches (I have on subscription with Amazon and use only these in 1kg bag per month for 3 years). Now they are so oily they clogged my grinder in 2 bags. I can see it staining my hopper. Now looking for dryer beans.
Question: How old were the beans you were delivered? Was it roasted more than a month ago
Answer: 4 months past the best by date. Same issued occurred when ordering Lavazza Super Crema beans from Amazon. Orginal product was outdated by 11months, its Amazon replacement was also outdated by 5 months. When ordering this Lavazza coffee beans from Amazon, expect the product to be past its best by date.
Question: how is this compared to the Lavazza Super Crema Espresso? which is better
Answer: It's a different blend, therefore a different taste. They are both whole beans to be grinded. Super Crema is intended for commercial use and the origin of the beans and amounts used are different from Gran Crema which is made for home use. Super Crema is 80% arabicas (a mix from Brazil, washed Indian Arabica and high quality Columbian) and 20% robustas (a mix from Indonesia and Vietnam). Gran Crema is 40% South America arabica and 60% Southeast Asia robusta. Most people find them comparable and similar, but taste is a personal thing, otherwise we'd all eat and drink the same things. One last thing, both Super Crema and Gran Crema are intended for mixing and not straight espresso. This does not mean that they are bad for espresso and are most certainly superior to the vast majority of coffee brands available for espresso, but there is certainly better choices for espresso within Lavazza.

It is imported to the United States as Naturalis Inka in packaging reminiscent of that used in Poland in the 1980s.

  • No artificial ingredients or other additives.
  • Caffeine-free.

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone tried kaffree roma? if so, please comment how you think it compares to inka. thank you
Answer: Kaffree is my my favorite followed by Pero then Inka.
Question: is Postum still good after it expires and not been opened
Answer: I believe it would depend on how long after the expiration date. Possum comes in a glass jar and that may give it a little more time. Open it and make a cup . If it tastes good and is only a year after the date , I would think it may be okay to drink.
Question: Inka has the same ingredients as Cafix. Had anyone tried both and can compare them? Thanks
Answer: I prefer Inka, much better flavor to me personally. Cafix taste more bitter like real coffee though.
Question: Can the label be translated? I'm trying to find out carbs and sugar per serving, thank you
Answer: You could look on similar products such as Nutralis Inka or Pero as they are the same ingredients with few variations: barley, malted barley, chicory, rye & nothing else. All in all a very tasty & healthy drink. No need to sweat the sugar, there is none. As for carbs at 1g. Hope this is helpful.
