Answer:	To expand on the last answer, you cannot copy your game to the drive. You install the game disc to the external hard drive just like you do on the internal drive if your PS4. You must insert your disc to play the game even when it’s installed on the external drive. Your game disc is not copied like a file that you can open and play without inserting the disc.

Answer:	Yes. The advertising title and the product description don't list the same info.

Answer:	I've repaired several of these. The PS3 slimline model has "Tamper Torx" screws underneath the Power button/Disc Eject button panel. It requires specialty Torx Tools (torx bits with a hole in the center) to remove them. Or for the PS3 I kept for myself, I drilled off the head of the screws to remove them. This is tricky and could damage the casing, button panel, etc. I'd recommend purchasing the tool along with the drive. Once you remove the screws on the bottom of the PS3 slim (hidden under the rubber feet and square flush pop out panels), then remove the screws under the panel and for the Blue Ray drive on the bottom before you remove the case cover. Once the top cover is off, there is one hidden screw underneath the power supply. You have to remove the power supply first before removing the Disc Drive. There are two silver screws on each side of the power supply. Plus two cables that have to be removed first. On the left side under the power supply is a hidden plug connection mounted on the board underneath and the power supply itself. Once you have the screws out and the two cables disconnected, then wiggle the power supply while pulling it upward to release the connectors. If it does not come loose by hand, then GENTLY pry it up with a flat screwdriver from the left side. I have a plastic blade flat screwdriver that doesn't damage things, but a regular screwdriver will work if you are CAREFUL. Don't force it or pry too hard. Just know the plug underneath is holding it down. Once the power supply is out of the way, there is another screw on the back of the DVD drive on a plastic tab that has to come out. Then two cables, one tiny power connector on the back the drive and the Circuit board in the PS3, and a ribbon cable for the data. The ribbon cable slides into the connector with a slide lock that has to be released first. Be gentle again with a small flat head screwdriver, pry the plastic slide lock upward or outward in the direction of the ribbon cable. Once it is released, then gently wiggle the ribbon cable out of the connector. Then remove the drive by pulling up the back of the Disc drive (tilting upward) where you took the back screw off, and pulling it back and upward from under the button panel (or remove the panel first). Reinstall in reverse order. Don't forget to push down the locking slide for the ribbon cable. You can test it before putting the cabinet/case back together. Make sure the DVD/Blue ray disc loads and unloads without jamming. It must be aligned back underneath the button panel. If it does not power up the drive or doesn't load/eject the discs, recheck the ribbon cable and the small cable connectors at both ends to make sure they seated and the locks snapped into place. If everything works, then put the case back together, reinstall the screws, and end caps to hide them. Only one corner of the rubber feet comes out for a hidden screw.There is another hidden screw under a panel on the bottom, shaped like a rectangle. It is for the hard drive underneath the front panel. Which has another panel that can come out, then a small wire handle is exposed on the front of the hard drive to pull it out from the front. If the hard drive ever fails, it can be replaced or upgraded to a larger/faster type if you need to. Be sure to download the latest operating software from playstation.com for the PS3 slim. Version 4.53 is the latest (and last) for this model. Back up your PS3 Game Date onto a USB Thumbdrive, and copy the Operating system (4.53 *.pup file) into the PS3\UPDATE Directory also on the USB Thumbdrive or a USB Hard drive you can connect to the front of the PS3 console. Be sure you Make the Directories exact with Uppercase letters only, otherwise when you go to restore either the games or the operating system later, they won't work. The same is true with any user ID you recreate on a new Hard Drive, it must be exact as the one on the old drive for your saved game data to work again. Otherwise you will have to replay your games from the start to re-earn trophies, gadgets, etc. again. Hopefully this helps. You can do a Google or Yahoo search on "How To" guides with pictures on changing out the Blue Ray Disc drive or Hard Drives also. Many of them are good, along with a few YouTube videos showing you step by step.

I am on a maxed out MBP 15" from 2018 (I am a video editor) and ran BlackMagic Speed Disk Test and couldn't get over 100 MB/S read or write, and have had HDD's that are faster than that! Really pretty shocked they are this slow (and I bought them specifically bc I need fast drives for event media editing). Needless to say, I won't be buying these again.

Then there's USB 3.1 Gen 2 and USB 3.2 Gen 2, they both refer to 10Gbps. And then these marketing geniuses came up with (new, improved!) USB 3.2 Gen 2 x 2, which is 20 Gbps. It's all backward and forward compatible, devices negotiate the best speed available.

Question:	Is anyone else having child lock/unlocking issues with this device? Please help
Answer:	I too experienced this problem (as well as other issues) and pressing the STOP, HOME, and TOP MENU buttons DID NOT unlock the unit!!! this should not be occurring on a newer model.
Question:	I have an older tv. can i connect using the old video inputs (yellow, red, white) with some sort of adapter? will this play dvds
Answer:	The previous answers are false. You can indeed with an hdmi to rca adapter ( sold on amazon for as little as $14.99 ) hook this up to an older tv with red white and yellow rca cables... and it deserves work very well in full 1080 support.
Question:	Not interested in blu-ray. does this play standard dvds

Question:	Has the "child lock" problem been fixed? I'd like to order, but not if it still has problems
Answer:	I'd like to hear from Sony on this. My (previous model) BDPS580 had the child lock issue and a buffering problem. After constant buffering problems with Netflix etc, we bought a roku which NEVER buffers. We use the Sony only for BluRay playback. Re the child lock issue, after many days and hours of we give up. It's horrible. We downloaded a firmware update. It hung up on install and now it will not reload because it thinks it's complete. So the machine constantly displays the flashing goodbye message "see you" and does not consistently open, close, turn on or off. We do the various reset procedures "home-return-top menu" or unplug and replug, or hold the power button for 10 seconds, and then it sometimes responds. Once, twice. Then dies again. We turned off the quick start feature, tried to update the firmware again, many times, and it won't update because it thinks it doesn't need it. To be clear, it NEEDS something. Horrible machine.
