Answer:	There is no locking mechanism. You slide it under the door when it's shut. If someone opens the door its pushes down on the flap and the alarm sounds.

Answer:	It only works when you are home. you put it under the door and if someone comes in it will go off. you cant arm it from outside the door

Answer:	I don't think it matters whether the door is metal or wood. If you look at the end that goes under the door, there needs to be enough clearance for the alarm to fit under the door. It's not absolutely flat. Seems to me that's the only issue.

Answer:	Anything that presses the metal lever down will set off the alarm; however, if you place this with low end under the door there would not be much for the cat to step on. If that is a concern, and you want to use the alarm, you could simply place something box-like over the exposed end.

Answer:	There is an option to define scheduled recording per day. I am not sure if it is related to motion detection (might be, I never tested it). Check with customer support, they are responsive.

Answer:	Hello, yes, if you use the camera alone, you could turn it off via Setting>Infrared Light.
Question:	If your camera is recording 24/7 to the nvr, what is the microsd card recording--just the motion events
Answer:	While the NVR is recording, the microSD will not be needed, however, during playback of events only the cameras with microSD (or battery powered) will be able to fast forward through video (2x-16x). This may not seem like a big deal, but when you need to find an event, it's a HUGE timesaver.
Question:	how do you install it
Answer:	Physically speaking, the camera should be mounted to a solid surface. That surface can be vertical or horizontal. Technically speaking, you will need to have CAT5E or CAT6 ethernet installed for all wired versions of IP cameras. This isn't necessarily an easy task if you want it done properly. This version has an RJ45 connection, A/C power adapter connection, and a reset button. As for my installation, I ran wires from a 16-port Power over Ethernet switch located next to my Internet router in the basement inside the channel of the main steel support beam, then to each of the four corners of my home. I then carefully pulled a portion of the siding away from the exterior wall to drill a hole then fished each wire through that hole and then behind the outside channel/corner of the siding up to the 2nd floor. I then mounted each camera on the soffit using 8-star wood screws. This approach helped me to eliminate the need to hire someone to fish wires through my walls, which isn't cheap! You also need the know-how and tools to terminate the ends of each network cable run. As for me, I am a huge fan of EZ-RJ45 connectors. Platinum Connect CAT5e connectors (100 pack) have a wiring diagram printed on the side of the plastic container, but essentially I use the 568B wire organizaton pattern (with the release tab of the clear plastic connector facing downward, then Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown). I should mention that if you are able to get your wiring through the walls from wherever your central networking termination point might be (mine being the basement) and can pull them through the attic, you could drill a 1/4 hole to pull the networking cable through vs. the approach I took. I am also exploring the use of powerline network adapters, which depending on the configuration of your home, could be a better option. I have yet to try the wireless version of IP cameras simply because I am skeptical they will likely experience jitter, frame-freezes, or poor-quality in general. I currently have 6 of these cameras and love them! The perform excellent both during the day and evening - with or without lighting/illumination from other sources (porch lights, the moon). As for my recording setup, I do have Blueiris, but have recently abandoned it due to very high CPU resource utilization and the persistent solution pitched to those who have cameras to reduce the FPS for their cameras to 15 or less. This, in my book, is not an acceptable solution given that 5MP cameras - this one in particular - delivers exceptional performance and quality. For example, I have the settings of all of my cameras as high as they can go and using Reolink's windows software client my 4th generation Intel i3 barely reaches 25% utilization. In stark contrast, Blueiris (a CPU hog) was persistently brought to its knees! Last but not least, unlike Blueiris which records in a proprietary BVR file format, the Reolink client software records in the MP4, a universally standardized file format. A for saving recordings, I have a 4TB WD Purple 3.5" HDD, which works like a charm! Nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck with your project.

If I am in the house and attached to my router via 802.11 A/B/G/N/AC I am being routed through my local ISP to their server that starts a session over broadband to my system. No Telecom Data usage. If I am downtown in Austin and access the cameras via my phone that is connected via WI-FI, same scenario. If I switch my phone to ATT data mode meaning shut down the WI-FI and connect via the phone network you can watch your data usage with the ATT app explode. The phone to server hop is eating data but the system to their server connection remains on my home wired connection. It is scary how much data is transmitted so better be sure you understand this or have an unlimited data plan if you fire this up non WI-FI. Hope this helps. The system is great when accessed remotely, images just as clear and that explains the bite it is taking. Does not look like there is any compression being used just one big fat stream of data.

Answer:	The answer from ReolinkDirect is clear: NO built-in microphone in the RLC-423 (PTZ cam). Just to reinforce that answer, here's a quote from Reolink Tech Support, because I had a similar question: "We are quite sorry to tell you that there is no built-in mic for RLC-423 series cameras so if you'd like to get audio, you need to connect an external mic to the "Audio-in" port of RLC-423 series cameras." Reolink Tech Support was great. They even sent me suggestions for a third-party mic, that you can connect to the RLC-423's RCA (audio IN) cable. Again, RLC-423's RCA cable is for Audio "IN." The sound signal must travel from a third-party external microphone, INTO the RLC-423's RCA cable, and then from the camera to your router (through the ethernet cable.) I have no experience with NVR or PoE (I use the AC adapter). After some searching, here are the two external microphones I've been using: Amcrest (pro: adjustable volume; con: indoor use only) and Sunba (pro: indoor and outdoor use; con: I don't think volume is adjustable). I prefer the Sunba, as it sounds better.

Answer:	It is ONVIF compliant, so it should work with other NVRs. I have two, and I use actually use their native NVR, i.e. "Reolink PoE NVR 8 Channel 2TB Hard Drive 4MP HD IP Home Security Camera System Outdoor Night Vision Motion RLN8-410". Besides some minor interface bugs, it works very reliably. Do understand, though, that to capture audio with this camera and any NVR, you will need to independently purchase and install a microphone, including running the wiring for it alongside the main Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable. This annoyed me at first, but the quality and performance of the camera more than compensated.

Answer:	I would suggest standard cable. Flat should work for short runs but not over 20 feet. Flat Ethernet is typically 34 gauge wire instead of 24 for standard cable. pushing POE power over the thinner gauge will have power loss and wire heating issues.

Answer:	Thank you for inquiry! I believe you mean fast forward. Yes on the NVR you can replay the video in 2x, 4x and 8x speed. I believe you ask about this because you don't want to spend too much time to find out what happened. We have a feature we call "dual record ongoing" in this system. So the system records 24*7 like all surveillance systems. In the meanwhile, when you playback, it actually highlights the motion-triggered videos for you. In our option, you only need to check the motion-triggered videos to find out what happened. This feature is available in both the NVR and the App. Corresponding with the dual-record feature, you have a message list in the App. The messages were triggered by motion detection. Each message lets you tap to view a short video. That way, you only need to check the daily messages to skip the rest of videos. Thank you!
Question:	Email Test is failing to log in, gmail notified me a device tried to access (which I approved) but still failing. Setting on port 25 then
Answer:	This is far more difficult than it needs to be, but I'll walk you through it. First go to your G-mail settings, all settings, forwarding and POP/IMAP. Scroll to bottom of page and click "configuration instructions". (Be sure IMAP is enabled) You want to look at the setting for "outgoing mail (SMTP) server." Write down the number next to "Port for TLS/STARTTLS". Now go to the NVR and go to the email settings page. Make sure email is enabled. In the window for "smtp provider" enter "gmail", in the window for "sender SMTP server" enter "smtp.gmail.com". In the window for "port" enter in the number you wrote down. In the encryption type window enter "TLS". In the recipient 1 and 2 windows enter your gmail address or the address you want it sent to. It can be the same for sender and recipients. Click on "test" after a few seconds it should show "Test Successful".
Question:	Regarding the siren, when enabled will it go off everytime someone is detected. So food delivery, mail man, dogs. Can it be programmed to come on at
Answer:	Thank you for inquiry! When the siren is enabled, it will sound when a people or an animal is detected. The sensing distance is about 30ft so it will not get too sensitive. The siren itself can be customized to a voice message in the App. So it’s not necessarily to be an alarm siren.
