If I switch my phone to ATT data mode meaning shut down the WI-FI and connect via the phone network you can watch your data usage with the ATT app explode. The phone to server hop is eating data but the system to their server connection remains on my home wired connection. It is scary how much data is transmitted so better be sure you understand this or have an unlimited data plan if you fire this up non WI-FI. Hope this helps. The system is great when accessed remotely, images just as clear and that explains the bite it is taking. Does not look like there is any compression being used just one big fat stream of data.

If you have to connect in this way because of the inconvenience to hook multiple wires in the scenes like between two buildings, please make sure do not add more than three cameras into the POE switch and then attach the switch into the PoE port on the NVR. Answer:	You'd have to take the output coax from the camera and put it into your recording device, then add a coax from your recording device to the main controller. As long as your recording device allows a pass-thru signal, you should be fine.
