Answer:	If the door unit is connected to continuous power through old bell transformer or new wired transformer, the camera can then be turned on and off from inside. If the door unit is powered by battery, it will shut itself off to preserve battery life(the door speakers transceiver does not have a stand by when it is off, to listen for commands from master units), it can only be turned on by pressing the bell button outside(power save feature is not a selectable option).
