Question:	Is the signal range of the sensor unit attenuated through house walls or concrete walls
Answer:	My display froze on the startup screen and would not advance after two years. Tried rebooting and same problem. I chatted with support and learned there is no way to reset the display screen. Cheap electronics for a unit at this price. AcuRite knows this is a problem with several others complaining of the issue. Their only solution was for me to spend another $100 and buy a replacement unit. This is a known issue with the display freezing and not advancing beyond the splash screen.

Question:	Replacing batteries on a roof-mounted unit is a pain. I have power there, so can it be modified easily
Answer:	You can convert "anything" battery powered to a AC converted application. Just match your voltage and amperage and seal the hole wire comes through. Easy. Just find a wall wart to match, solder additional lead wires, as required for length. Heat shrink the soldered connection. Given the 4 AA required, and I don't have this unit, my guess is something 5-6 volts with about 800 -1000 mA would work, just check the stats on it.
Question:	I know the manual says batteries in the display are for backup only, but does anyone know about how long it can survive on batteries
Answer:	I bought mine in 2016 & just had to change the batteries today 2/28/2020
Question:	What is the maximum distance between the outside unit and the display? Does the sensor need to be in the shade
Answer:	The distance is 330 ft. However be careful where you place the display from the station. Walls and other things can weaken the signal. It depends on what your house is made of. My house is primarily wood. The signal has no problem reaching the other end of my house (about 150 ft I believe). Also don't place the display near computers or radios or other electronic devices. It can cause interference with your station. Now the outside station it self is does not need shading. I actually recommend you place the station as high as possible (like on a pole on your roof, if you can't, place it no lower than 5ft-6ft from the ground) This ensures that your wind readings are accurate. The thermometer and hydrometer sensors are in the sensor and a internal fan circulates air past the sensors from outside, allowing the temperature readings to stay normal in the sun. Also make sure that station is in a wide open area with nothing around the sensor that could block the wind reaching the station. Typically I would say 50 ft from obstacles but I'm not sure how close. A lot of writing a know but hope this helps you!

Answer:	The display looks as it is shown in the picture. It is a color transparent overlay that the data is displayed on. It is bright and easy to read.

Question:	Is there a way to get a replacement screen for this unit? The one I got, the screen just stopped working one day
Answer:	As already stated, the "auto-dim" is time based not sensor. The other issue I have with it is even on the dimmest setting the thing is still very bright. For the unit in my kitchen this is not an issue, but I had to move the one that I had in my bedroom because it was putting out too much light to sleep.

Question:	when will the lightning sensor be fixed? It shows 100's of lightning strikes when it sunny and clear, and I am using Alkaline batteries
Answer:	There is a wire routing issue in some early units that causes the asperating fan to activate the lightning sensor. I had to send mine in for it. It sucks to send it in, but they paid shipping and the fix is covered under warranty.

Answer:	I found that putting it on the back of my iMac made the mouse skip a lot. I guess the metal frame of the computer -- or maybe the USB ports -- were interfering. I put it onto a spare USB port on my keyboard and now it works perfectly.

Answer:	I just got this mouse. I work in university and public libraries on a daily basis. You ask a great question, F. Campillo. I can aswer with certainty that this mouse does click, and if you work in those environments, you will not want this mouse. I'm leaving mine at home and going back to the expensive but effective Apple Bluetooth white, buttonless mouse. The Amazon mouse is just loud enough to be a problem to others in a quiet room (especially those sitting next to you or across from you).

Answer:	Info for the mouse is not confusing or conflicting. It is not Bluetooth, but requires the USB receiver. It works with any device with Windows or Mac OS 10; and which have a USB port. So the specs on the MacBook Air need to be checked carefully before buying - some have USB port, some don't. It's that simple.The model No. on the receiver is MGR0975, which is paired with the mouse Model No. B0005EJh6Z4. They are a pair, and yes they work with Apple with OS 10, but you need a USB port for the receiver. I don't use apple, but googling finds: Macbook air 11.6” display, 4th gen intel, Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, 1 USB Type C & 2 USB 3.0 (backward compatible w 2.0) Model MD712LL/A on Best Buy In fact, I wonder about that OS 10.9 Maverickssince the specs for the mouse say OS 10 only. Answer:	The "item model number" in the description for this item is 01019M. On Acurite's website, this item comes up showing 2 model numbers - "Model #: 995WES, 01019M". It is the complete system with the newer PRO+ sensor and smartHUB. I just got it from their site today (Cyber Monday) for $129.00, plus $20 for a lightning dector. Looks like their regular price is $270.00, so I wouldn't pay the $460 that the 3rd party Amazon seller is charging!

Question:	I currently have 2-smart hubs and 7 sensors a $360 investment that no longer works. now i have to spend another $240 to purchase the new hubs. why
Answer:	My AcuRite for some reasons, announced last year that they would no longer support the current smart hubs and as of 2/28/19 the old smart hub would no longer work. Their reasoning was customers wanted additional features that the current hub couldn't support, thus the hub has reached its end of useful life. They have not put out much info as to why the change other then what I stated, so I view their announcement with some skepticism.
Question:	Is the acurite access going to be on the market for a couple of years and then made obsolete like the smarthub
Answer:	Maybe true that the product had a 7 year span but Acurite sold these things up to the cut off date and did not bother to mention that they would be useless. I had mine about 8 months before it was 'bricked' . And contrary to their claims, I never received any notice of the shutdown. I recommend voiding this company at all cost.
Question:	How long will this one work before they discontinue support and force you to buy the "new and improved" version like they did with the smart hub
Answer:	Yeah pretty upset here. I just spent $80 for the smart hub about 3 months ago and now I’m forced to replace it because it’s not supported anymore. They offered me a lousy 20% if I buy it by 3/14/19 off the new one at $129.00, so about $26 off which still puts it at over $100. This is complete bull crap as someone else stated. I never had any issues with the old smart hub. Exactly as questioned, how long before the stop supporting this new one and force us to buy another new one? Not happy about this current situation AcuRite, you have many upset customers here.

Answer:	I put mine on a pole in the middle of my back yard. It comes with a bracket that could be used to mount on a wood fence post.

Answer:	am in upstate New York as well. Actually almost closer to Canada and it has worked awesome! So awessome I got one for my parents as well. It gives information the local news doesn't have a clue, they're always off my at least 6 degrees and winds speed is an important factor with wind chill...i.e. it was -42* a few weeks ago for wind chill and with horses it's important to know these things...just be sure to spray the wind cups underneath with wd40 so they don't freeze after rain.
