Answer:	It does not. Ideally these are geared towards contractors who already have other Makita products ( drill, etc ) that came with a battery and charger. You might be lucky enough to find a used one somewhere ( make sure do your homework on batteries that will work on the radio. There are several old ones that will not ) I didn’t have any luck going that route so waited until I found a good deal on a Makita drill set and purchased that before I bought my radio. Both good products. Good luck !

Answer:	While rugged and weather resistant, it isn't waterproof and were it to be immersed in water, it might not function. Note this is a battery radio but it also operates on AC, so it isn't designed to be seriously wet.

Answer:	I have one in my large barn w/ florescent lighting, and it works better than the radio that was in there. I don't see where insulation would interfere with reception.

Answer:	Yes it is stated as JIS4 on the Sangean site. The JIS4 Standard is not really a Water-Proof standard, but rather water-resistant. JIS4 in a nutshell means the product must be able to work without damage after submersion in water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. In other words, it is for products where expected use around water is not under high-pressure, but it could get wet and still be ok. Typical for products with intended use around pools, marine craft, or weather/rain use. Not intended for taking diving for example.

Answer:	What do you mean by shaking the crank for 8 hours to get it to fully charge? Push the crank for 120 cycles or minutes? Does anyone else know how to clearly explain this process, please? I was going to get it for my relative who likes to go hunting but not if there is no clear instructions or no known idea of how long it stays charged when manually cranked and or the sun has charged it and or both.

Answer:	Range is a tricky subject. There is stated range by the manufacturer, and then there is the realistic range of the radio which we call consistent range. The RMM2050 is a 2 Watt MURS radio, and operates on VHF frequencies. It does not do well indoors like a UHF radio would, but outdoors will travel 1 mile pretty consistently. Answer:	The RMM2050 is designed specifically for MURS and is limited to only 2 Watts and to the (5) MURS frequencies. Also, the antenna is fixed.These are all limitations that are part of MURS. We use the radios for a comm system in our race car and it works fine on the straight(near the pits), but gets scratchy on the far side of the tracks we run at. I wish we could go with an antenna on a mast, but can'tbecause the antenna is fixed (which is why I mentioned it.) We like the radios.
